Well, finale in that we are ending this story arc.
We open with Raito and Kyouichi arguing with Ryuuzan and Doushin outside the ruined Oribe Shrine. Its daylight, so this is after the battle.
The sky is blue.
Raito is pissed and starts to summon his electricity, but Kyouichi stops him.
No opening animation this week, by the by. The credits pop up like they've done in the past in Episode 1 and such.
Trucks of rescue workers are coming into Tokyo, and people are searching the rubble. An elderly woman and a child pray for a loved one.
Big Mama makes the Magami Thugs help her put her sign back up on the drag queen house. We see why Big Mama keeps so many muscular draq queens around: They're helpful for lifting rubble.
Magami is acting as a shelter, a bunch of kids run around in the school yard, and so forth. Anko is preparing for Graduation, making others do the work. Komaki is on the roof, hanging up laundry to dry. Anko goes up to the roof to speak with her. Komaki is surprisingly upbeat, considering how sad and angsty she's been all series.
Credits are over.
Daigo is in the home ec room, helping everyone cook for the refugees.
The title appears on the screen as Aoi stands outside, looking at a cherry tree. She's wearing an eye patch. Huh.
FLASHBACK TIME BABY. I know, I was getting scared we weren't gonna see any action either.
Back in the battle with Yagyuu, presumably after Aoi's Miracle, Hiyuu flies up and punches Yagyuu in the stomach, blasting a shot of yellow energy through him. Yagyuu screams out in pain, then explodes into purple energy, leaving Ryuuji's body. Hiyuu throws Ryuuji down to Kyouichi and the Magami 4.
The purple energy surrounds Hiyuu...
Because, remember...Yagyuu only needs a vessel of the Yellow Dragon... either would do... SAY GUYS, have you noticed in the current time, we haven't seen Hiyuu. At all? ...
Back to the future, Aoi is looking sad. Komaki goes out to cheer her up, saying that their families are ok. Komaki's thankful for that, but then she's like "...but...." and we FLASHBACK.
Hiyuu is surrounded by purple energy, but he looks back at his allies and smiles a sad smile.
BACK to the future, Komaki is looking up at the tree and wangsting. Daigo's father was killed.
We see some various shots around Magami, and we get a shot of Daigo at his father's grave.
Maiko is, of course, helping the wounded. So is Iwayama. Sayo's Sweet Pea doll is still sitting on the desk. Sagaya is out looking for the wounded. Guess who he comes across? Right, his bullies. One of them is in pain, but Sagaya rises to the occasion and helps him. The bully thanks him, and it is deep and meaningful.
Doushin and Ryuuzan wander around the ruins of Tokyo, wondering about Kisaragi.
Alan's ok, he's got a little shanty town on a non-ruined part of Tokyo. He's made a special miso soup for everyone to eat. Ha. He offers some to Sera's grave... and then he coughs? Because he's sick?
Kisaragi bids farewell to his burned store, and to his grandfather, and thinks that he wants to protect people and then he... oh my sweet jesus.
Then the world implodes on itself, as the cosmic balance has been completely destroyed. (OH GOD HIS SPEECH HERE IS SO LAME)
Alan is crouched over in his makeshift graveyard, clearly in pain. The ramen guy is feeding people. He looks around, wondering where Marie went.
Marie is wondering around a flooded area of Tokyo, clutching her face. She's crying of Hiyuu... and she's blind now? Is that it? MOE~
Just so we're clear:
As a result of this battle, Alan has contracted some sort of life threatening sickness, Marie is blind, Daigo's parent is dead, and Kisaragi learns that its ok to smile. ONE OF THESE THINGS IS NOT LIKE THE OTHER and it gives me yet another reason to hate Kisaragi and the animators for being such whores for him. I swear to god.
Anyway, Marie sees Hiyuu in her inner-eye, as it were, so she's happy. Of course, she's walking down a collapsed bridge in a flooded section of Tokyo, towards the water, then she passes out. Her hand enters the water. So I guess she died? I swear to god, if Kisaragi doesn't fall over dead by the end of this episode, I am going to be so pissed.
Daigo is hiding out in a cave, clutching his hand. Komaki comes looking for him. He hides his hand from her. She apologizes for his parent. They look over a flooded section of Tokyo. A man and his son are out fishing on an inflatable raft. Hee. Komaki and Daigo have a little discussion, it is deep and meaningful. You can tell because the sad violin theme song is playing. They walk back, hand-in-hand.
Detective and Medical Examiner, all ok. I'm not sure how they got to where they are, in that the Detective is in a wheelchair and the terrain is not wheelchair friendly, but whatever.
Anko is looking at her picture of her and Kyouichi, wondering if she should delete it. She's a bit indecisive.
Inugami made some graves for his rabbits, using carrots as markers. Maria is ok... SHE IS THE BIONIC WOMAN. They talk for a moment about humans and such. I think this is the most lines either of them have had all season. Some of the students call out to Maria. She puts on her "I'M SO WACKY!" facade, which makes Inugami smirk.
Maiko looks at a picture... its Young Iwayama clinging to Inugami. Yep, Iwayama used to be in love with Inugami, and used to be quite the looker (This is from the game). She and Sagaya talk for a while. They make puppy dog eyes at one another, but Iwayama interrupts them and berates them for being in her office. Sagaya apologizes profusely. Narutaki speaks with the Kenbu-kuns out in the ruins. Mibu wonders where the fangirl is, and Ukon's like "UM DUH."
Mibu asks Narutaki where Hiyuu is. Narutaki looks sadly at the sky. Mibu takes this as an admittance that he's dead. At this point, I'm pretty sure Kyouichi is nursing Hiyuu back to health or something, just because we haven't seen him for about 15 minutes now.
Raito and Fangirl are in his old hangout, the CROW thing is even still up.
Doushin and Ryuuzan show up... somewhere, with the Oribe twins. It appears to be ancient shrine underground of mysterious plot related things. Or maybe just the basement of the Magami Gym. Whichever. Shots of various rescue and relief efforts going on around Tokyo.
Aoi looks forlornly at a mass graveyard, you've seen the opening animation. The wind blowing causes her to FLASHBACK.
YagHiyuu is surrounded by the wind, his hair has turned white. But Hiyuu is still in there, and he goes Super Saiyan, turning into the Yellow Dragon. He and Shadow Yellow Dragon tango into the sky!
BACK to the present, Kyouichi stares at the Cherry Tree. Then he realizes that Aoi is looking at him. Kyouichi says he's going to go look for Hiyuu, and Aoi's all like "HEY WE'LL ALL GO TOO!" Kyouichi's like "No. No you aren't. I don't need a beard coming along."
She uses St. Aoi's bitchslap of holy justice on him.
She breaks into YET another self righteous speech, possibly her longest and most emotional to date. Then she collapses into Kyouichi's arms (you've seen the opening).
Kyouichi takes off, leaving his sword sleave thingie in the hands of Aoi. Oh Kyouichi, no. He bumps into Kisaragi on his way out. They leave together?! I did not see that coming...
Down in Doushin, Ryuuzan and the Twin's House of Mysterious Underground, Ryuuji is being kept. He's missing an arm and a leg and possibly an eye. Which would make sense, what with Kyouichi STABBING IT OUT last episode. He seems really sad, because he's learned what it means to be human!
FLASHBACK.
SSJHiyuu flies into the sky against SSSJYagyuu (Shadow SSJ).
BACK.
The credits begin rolling...
Its Magami Gakuen's Graduation ceremony, being presided over by Maria. In attendance are the Drag Queens, among others.
Maria: "Sakurai Komaki"
Komaki: "Hai."
Komaki stands firm for a moment before breaking down in tears.
Maria: "Daigo Yuya"
Daigo: "Hai."
Daigo does not cry.
(she calls other names out, but they aren't important.
Cut to Kisaragi, in a small village speaking with a child.
Maria: "Tohno Kyouko"
Anko: "Hai"
Anko tries to fight back the tears.
Cut to a shot of the faculty of Magami. Cut to a shot of some of the empty desks. They all have pictures of those who didn't make it, along with a little offering.
Maria: "Misato Aoi."
Aoi: "Hai."
Aoi does not cry.
Cut to Kyouichi, sitting up in a tree out in the middle of nowhere (countryside), thinking to himself.
Maria: "Hiyuu Tatsuma."
Aoi: "Hai."
Aoi starts to cry.
Maria: "Houraiji Kyouichi."
Anko starts to cry.
Anko: "Hai."
Kyouichi looks up into the sky, and finds himself in Hiyuu's Magical Sparkly Love Tree, with Hiyuu standing on the ground. Hiyuu says his name, which surprises Kyouichi. Then Kyouichi realizes it was dream.
This episode is... wow.
I kinda expected a bit more action, and at least an explanation on a few things. For example, me? I'd personally like to know why, when the last time we saw Marie Crea and Alan, they were healed by the magical light of magical hope, and then the next time we see them, one's blind and DIES and the other is diseased. Seriously, what the fuck? I can understand why the fight scene was sorta cut down, because there was very little anyone else could do besides Hiyuu and the 4 Gods, but still...
