And it looks like Mancini tried to apply for the position but he got rejected, mwahahaha. And it also seems like Mourinho is going to coach Inter next year. That's good, I can't wait for my Juve to steamroll him and Inter next season just like we did against Mancini&Friends during Serie A this year.

being a Chelsea fan i would have hated it if we did sign Mancini. i don't much care for Rijkaard either. although i would have thought that the 'special one' would have gone to Barca than Inter seeing as he started there and probly would have helped them ten-folds.
seeing as Grant did what the 'special one' could't, give him props for that. it looks like Sven and Hiddink are the front runners. i think that all chelsea fans will probly have to wait till the Euro is over until we get a manager.

Though kickoff times over here for me are at 12 midnight and 2AM, so I'll have to be very selective of what to watch. I'll try and drag some of the "thread regulars" over to enliven this thread during this tournament. |

Euro 08
Anybody watching the games? Swiss vs Czech just finished, was a great game. Swiss didn't deserve to lose, but they couldn't finish any chances. Vonthalen missed an empty net. Also had some penalty issues, but the second one was clearly not a penalty. More of the Swiss trying to get anything.
Next up is Portugal vs Turkey. Come on soccer fans, show yourselves . |

Sorry, but there is already an official Football thread, non-coincidentally called The Official Football Thread . Honestly, the few times I have been in the thread, they have simply been talking about Man Utd and The Arsenal, but I assume with a name like "The Official..." they would also be covering the various Series.
So, I would not be suprised if this thread is relocated or deleted soon. Last edited by james0246; 2008-06-07 at 13:21. |

And Portugal v Turkey was way better. Match lost its steam after the goal (which was long overdue). The referee was poor, gave some decisions to easily for Portugal (IMO) but in the hard tackles he did nothing (e.g. the tackle against Simao and that straight-red kung-fu kick against Nani).

Lucky Europeans with their European Cup! Not a big fan of football but I still like to follow few of the national game and I am glad that swiss lost (apologize if I angered anybody) as I still hold grudge over what happened in 2006.

In the Portugal/Turkey game there were a few things that should've been called but weren't...but i guess ever since the Portugal/Netherlands match the refs have been trying to hold back on making so many "rash" calls.
Anyway, the 2nd goal in the final seconds was great! I couldn't think of a better way for that match to end. I just hope that Portugal plays at it's best and wins this years Euro. w00t!1!1 Go Portugal!! |

No disrespect to the Czechs, but this has to be the dullest performance I've seen of the Czechs ever since I start following them in Euro 96. Whatever happened to their attacking flair in Euro 2004? If it wasn't for Petr Cech's heroics, the Swiss might stand a chance.

The Czechs no longer have Nedved due to retirement and Rosicky is out injured. Those two were a big part of their attack.
Up next is Austria vs Croatia. Austria don't stand a chance at all, I expect a 3 - 0 scoreline in favour of Croatia. Game of the day will again be the second game. Poland vs Germany is going to be an incredible match. These teams have history between each other. I say 1 - 1 scoreline. |

Wow, did Austria ever play a great game. Losing was a real shame, not deserved at all. I'm disappointed with Croatia, it seemed like they were content with 1 goal. They're missing Eduardo, but they still could of tried to attack more. If they play like this they wont make it through Poland and Germany.
