Are you sure that Nagi is Hiro's mother? A gamer told me that Nagi is Hiro's sister...

Besides, their difference in age is only 15 or so right?

Hmm... But Kuze and Yuu is of the same age, yes? And I thought Kuze is pretty young (28 years old) and Nagi is, like you said, around Yuu's age (hell, maybe even on the same age ). So if we were to say, Hiro, who is pretty much in the same age as Reiji, only have around 12-15 years difference with Nagi since Reiji is a bit older than Mizuki by 1-3 years.

Ef timeline is confusing....

During a rewatch of ep 12 today I did notice this. Not sure what a JR logo is, but i'm assuming it's Japan Rail or something similar. Pretty sure that sign says Otowa.

Nagi is indeed Hiro's sister.
I'm quite sure Yuu isn't that old... probably around Kuze's age, which would be a little under ten years older than Hiro and co. It's hard to imagine a mother that young.

@Jaruromania: You were watching an upscale or a lower quality raw; the animation quality is higher, if anything.
For some reason, they decided not to air either season of ef in HD.

Yeah, I don't think that she could have a highschool aged kid in 10 year's time. Also I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that she was Hiro's sis. I wonder when the anime is going to reveal that in detail. Probably when Hiro makes a cameo.

New ED was nice. If it's like Kei's from season 1, I assume there will be a scene involving the ED later...? Seems Mizuki knew Yuuko and Yuu.

Well, it's slow, but it's steadily moving on, the story is. Nagi even got an appearance, doing that thing as always. *"Hello, police. Yes, the art room. There's a........"*

Mah... To me, Kuze-->Mizuki=Crime, so he's always Kuzu to me. Just waiting for him to try and lay his hands on her (sooner or later... Considering the first season)
Hah... Mizuki seems to be the only light around here (excluding Renji, who doesn't really matter around this season)... Both Kuze and Yuu are gloomy in some way, and the two other girls (Yuuko and Nagi) have a loose screw or two.

So Yuu and Yuuko were orphans... And his real(?) sister died from a fire(?), which caused him to snap at Yuuko who looked like her... (Naani kore, Shigofumi?)
And then she was adopted... by the Seaweed professor, I guess?

The last part with the metronome and two masked Kuzes was cool... Makes me want to see that scene again.

Seeing Yu and Yuuko's flashback scene this early was a nice treat, though i guess it's good to get it over and done with so we can move forward with their story. Little Yuuko is adorable though.

So they were originally orphans (and they're in the ruined city).

Nagi does her thing again and get's naked in classroom. Also everyone look out for Mizuki's 'i'll strip you now' attack.

The metronome and two masked Kuze's scene was so damn good. I need to watch that again right now.

Now i just need a sub.

Well....that was sudden indeed, Mizuki. A confession already? What a way to end an episode....for a romance-buff like me anyway. Now I'm really dying to see the next episode to see how this affects their interaction.

There's Yuuko's confession too, but that didn't come as surprising to me because a) it was obvious she was already in love with Yuu, and b) she struck me as the type of character to make these things clear anyway. Not like Mizuki, who has always talked about her devotion to Kei, then comes out with "It looks like I've fallen in love with you" to Kuze.

And the melody goes on. I agree with other comments: I enjoyed this episode a lot. But I'm realizing that it is the visuals and music that carry it for me, making somewhat outlandish events seem normal, part of the symphony.

Spoiler for ep2:

In a way we have two Miyako's here, two women who are playful and forward: one taking her clothes off, the other resting this older man's head on her lap and then confessing to him.

It's low humor, I guess, but I found the bumped head hilarious. Probably it was the shock of it.

I just adore the night scenes out on the terrace, with Kuze and Yuu.

My sense was that Yuu felt guilty for not rescuing his sister Ayako (?), and that poisoned his relationship with Yuuko.

Um, okay, that statement of mine was in jest, lol. (although you gotta admit that her mental images of her and Kei were rather "intimate")

Oh, and to those still stuck on the "Australia or not" thing, Mizuki and Kuze speak specifically of being overseas here on her trip. Kuze asks her if she's okay with spending time with him on her vacation instead of doing something special, and she says even though it's overseas, it's a lot like Japan. So they're not in Japan here. Mizuki also says something that sounded like "Japan's Otowa" in that line, possibly indicating that the town they're in in Australia is also called Otowa. (maybe?) It was kinda hard to tell for sure, there were a lot of "n" and "o" sounds mixed in that specific part of the line like a tongue-twister. >.>

Just watched EP1.

Felt disturbed and creep' out on the MizukixKuze? paring. lol. Went WTF at first; but thank god it got more clearer in the end on the triangle paring. Oh well. I'm watching this show mostly for the drama anyways. So I'll be keeping an eye on this.

I read somewhere that the Yu/Yuuko arc takes place seven years before Kuze and Mizuki's story does. Considering that Yu, Nagi and Kuze were perhaps in their second/third years (16-17 age respectively) if Mizuki is sixteen/seventeen at this time, then Kuze would be 23-24 years old right now?

Spoiler for EP 2 : Mizuki's Confession:

Rather than Mizuki outright confessing her love to Kuze, I'm pretty sure when she said "I'm falling in love with you" she meant she fell in love with Kuze the violinist, rather than Kuze the man. It makes sense, considering that she was talking about how his music touched her so much, and how she's pretty direct and relaxed about this line when she was fumbling and blushing around Kuze earlier. That's cute.
