Okay so obviously it was gg fansubs and not 4chan that brought on the vote rush judging by how the votes all fit in with their style of memery right down to the whole Schneizel thing, but this gives me an idea, or rather makes me support another one that has already been proposed.

I had thought it was a bad idea earlier, but I think I'm now going to 2nd Sorrow-Kun's petition for allowance of vote campaigning next year since if block voting is going to be practiced by certain concerns at other places not supervised by the animesuki community then it might as well be allowed for all places including these forums and be made a legitimate part of these awards. Just something to consider. What do other people think?

Look, I only brought up the "campaigning" idea (in hindsight I chose a bad word) as a way to bring awareness to titles that people might think are deserving, but might not be getting enough votes to be nominated. This might be because they're not as popular as other series or they aired earlier in the year and people have forgotten about it. Also movies. Movies get overlooked in the voting, I think, because its easy to forget about them sometimes. You only intensely think about a movie once, but with a series, you think about it every time you watch an episode.

I think once someone tries to maliciously badger someone into voting a certain way that "campaigning" goes over the line. Mods might be able to stop that here, but I can see how that's a problem if it's happening in other places. If people want to donkey vote, that's their prerogative. Like all voting systems, this one only works if the majority of people do the right thing. All we can really do is hope that most people do the right thing. If they don't, the Awards lose their credibility (hmm...) and at that point it's up to the people in charge (specifically Kyomi) to figure out ways to make the system work again. I hope it doesn't come to that, though. Any attempts to disenfranchise voters based on something arbitrary like post count would just lead to more trouble than it's worth, I predict.

At the moment I think all we can do is shrug our shoulders at the donkey voters and hope it doesn't spoil it for the rest of us.
