She could, but it won't happen because Yuki will know and stop it, Mikuru would be sent back in time to inform Kyon, Itsuki will call a taxi to send you off.
And then you can relate it back to Haruhi's omnipotence, her power gathered these people around her.

Not to mention, you'd have to use a silenced gun and figure out a way to pull it on her without her knowing it. Also, it'd have to be in a way that kills her instantly, otherwise she'll just will herself better... and probably realize that she shouldn't be alive, thus potentially making her aware of her powers.

If you're nuclear reactors safety system is acting up, do you try to solve the problem with high explosives?
Nobody really has any understanding of the relation between Haruhi and the power. Acting impulsively is a bad idea. Quote:
A high powered scoped rifle at 300 yards. At this distance she won't notice the sniper. With the round going super sonic, by the time she hears the rifle crack she'll be hit. When she's hit the round will pulverize her brain before she can have any cognition of death. Of course you have no idea what'll happen after that. Of course she may not instantly resort to super natural means to defend herself. After your would be assassin starts shooting her, a cop who also happens to be a champion pistol shooter will walk onto the scene unexpectedly and perform the absolute fucking best quick draw head shot that he ever possibly could perform in his life.

1: Nothing happens (but then something has happened, but what?) 2: Mutual destruction (both dissapear in a burst of energy) 3: (Possible the result of "nothing happens") they phase through each other completing both of their objectives (the rock didn't move and the hammer continued on its way)

To be absolutely fair, an immovable object is only immovable if an unstoppable force is making said object unmovable.
So technically, it's a case of unstoppable force against unstoppable force. Now, mathematically, two separate infinities do no equal each other... and practically nothing is really truly infinite... Just pointing out that this argument is really, really bad on multiple levels. |

Y'know, I don't participate in many series specific forums, such as this one, but it occurs to me that there has to be only a few discussing the nature of omnipotence in connection with a series that easily fits into the comedy or slice of life genres. - Just an observation.
Would I be correct then in thinking that just because Haruhi doesn't know she's omnipotent doesn't mean she's not omnipotent but she is, on the other hand, stoppable - usually through some sort of subterfuge. |

This reminds me of a theory I dreamed up... That fictitious characters on paper, like in comics, are actually 2d lifeforms. They live, they breath, they eat, they die. And in some ways, some of the most powerful and influential 2D lifeforms can influence us 3d lifeforms.
Superman, for example, was killed off by DC once upon a time. But then he was brought back, because DC can't let him die. One could argue that Superman is a 2D lifeform who managed to be so important financially, "gods" of the 3rd dimension who created him and give him life would not kill him EVER, blessing him with immortality. But they are not "really" alive, you say? One could argue that the Data Overmind might view normal humans trapped in a linear timeline as mere pictures on pieces of paper. Normal humans can't jump around space time, the same way a comic character can't leave the page that he is printed on. It's all a matter of perspective.

If the translations are correct and Kyon said "Don't tell me" when he asked about the symbols being an alien language then he asked it wrong. Since he said don't tell me Nagato followed his instructions and didn't tell him. Just like when Haruhi told her to lock the door and not let anyone in the room.
