I finally got around to watching the long awaited ep 9, and all I have to say is....

*ahem* seriously though, whether or not it was to conveniently promote the new single or not, I couldn't get enough of that episode. Well, to be more specific I couldn't get enough of Dan x Rouge. The interactions between the two was fun to watch, not to mention Dan's shown in a new light around her (though if I understand correctly, this is also possibly reflective of Kannagi? That show was awesome too, btw).

Though that alone made the episode for me I very much enjoyed every other bit too...well, minus the manager. Other highlights were...

- The fans and their dedication were amusing to watch
- The hot tub part, freaking hilarious on the women's side (though Spanky should be traumatized after that)
- Dan x Rouge
- Citron's admiration of Iceman throughout the game
- The game itself (I'm really starting to become a fan of that colorful "body switch" stuff they do during the game)
- Dan x Rouge
- The music throughout the ep

and...Dan x Rouge. Although I think those highlights kind of included the whole episode. Either way, this show is still awesome and though I'm more than satisfied with it right now I really hope that there'll be some remnant of Dan x Rouge at the end of it all.

This show just got even more enjoyable because I now have a clear favorite for Dan to pair up with. =)

Though if he doesn't want Rouge, I'll take her for myself...

So anyone feel like next episode begins the real plot and intricacies of the show? As far as I've noticed, it seems like all the characters have been introduced, plus Violette (was it her?) said something about the unit being assembled together for a specific reason. With the manager's shady past with Miyuki's grandpa, it seems like there's definitely a hidden motive behind the formation of the idol team.

And now back to staring at Rogue again...especially Dan's dream sequence of her...

I think we are still in the set up stage before we can move to a real romantic set up for Dan.
Remember that Dan does everything through dreams. It was pretty much how Miyuki left an impression on him , he also dreamt about her and that made him remember her. I think so far only three women have been in Dan's dreams, Miyuki, Coco, and Rouge. Coco is automaticaly discarded, Sela already is out of the running as it seems she is not interested in Dan or Iceman anymore. so it seems it is Miyuki and Rouge in the running.

I think there have been a bit of mistranslating there. As far as I know, the english term unit (ユニット) is used by the japanese to identify pop bands such as idol groups. So maybe she was just commenting on the fact that idol groups are used to create scandals to stir up interest in the media. Aohige do you confirm?

But this is also a sports title. So the romantic stuff is usually on the back burner.

It's also the most realistic in happening given Miyuki is around him and knows him the best.

I'm rooting for the highly improb combination of Flora and Iceman. Sure, he has to wait a few years. But hey, she's a princess after all.

Great episode with a lot of character development. A lot of Dan X Rouge moments in this episode and Dan backstory. That is all I can give for now but there will be a lot of WTF moments that will make the story more interesting. Last but not least, there will be fanservice.

Now how the heck did a bulky-James looking guy like seinen Slash turn out to be slim-small build and borderline feminine...there still hasn't been a confirmation of Slash's gender yet so I can't say that he is 100% the guy we see in the flashback...what are the chances that the name Slash is inherited down the family and the present Slash is actually the one in the flashback's son/daughter.

Brilliant episode no?

I was beginning to wonder when they will come back and talk about Dan's unstable past but I wasn't expecting it to be this indepth and deep. Dan is totally having one of those "repressed memories" being dug right out of him for the sake of being forced to move forward...which makes sense since by now he should have hit a ceiling in which he can't pass until he gets some part of his life sorted.

And boy does Dan have a lot of problems he needs to sort out. We knew that the incident with Coco has affected his life but to think it also did the same for his abilities to play Basketball...

But this just highlights the deepness of the scar that has affected his heart and quite interesting for me to watch. The way he was running around like a headless chicken, I really thought that he had lost it completely not to mention the delusions of being chased by wild animals. Dan himself is scared to remember what happened in the past and has been running away from the "monsters" that plague his dreams. The sad thing is that there is nothing he can do to change the situation other than to face it but for that to happen he would have to be exposed to more fear...that is where the supporting team comes in.

It was great to finally see Dan being able to shoot a ball into the net so this is an indication that he is finally beginning to let go.

It was no surprise that Coco was the one writing those articles but it was surprising to see Slash in kahoots with her. I really wonder what their relationship is and whether it has something to do with the past when they were met by Slash. I also wouldn't be surprised if Slash has been taking Coco to spy on Dan for her articles...

Meanwhile on the otherhand we have many amusing scenes of Rouge and Dan being tsundere towards each other. Ah the youth

I think there is little doubt left at whether romance between the two will happen and unlike Sela's passing fancy, Dan might actually like Rouge.

Rouge helped a big deal in helping Dan get himself together even if it mean taking a few hits to the ground...poor girl

Anyone else think they are going with Dan x Rouge too soon, too fast for it too actually happen, wouldn't be surprised if there was something going on with Rogue that gets revealed later on.

If you've seen all of Kannagi you should realize there is two Nagi's, human and divine. The one who met Jin for one minute is not the one we see 98% of the time during the course of the show. The human Nagi does share some memories with her divine side but Jin is not one of them. Anyway if you consider Jin and Nagi childhood friends you really cheapen the meaning of friend. Btw how does the source material consider them as childhood friends when one has no recollection of the meeting since she's a separate personality

Btw I never saw the Tenchi spinoffs (only watched the OVAS) but Akane/Keita is so not what you said, Akane has been looking after him for awhile... or is this another one of those stupid changes Sunrise made to the show?

If anything, Nagi having long hair and having a hair accessory gives her the edge on my moe metre over Tsugumi. Doesn't change the fact that I think even Zenge has a better chance than Nagi from what is shown in the anime, but that's neither here nor there.

Jin's interest in Zange shows he's heterosexual, that's it. And couldn't you tell that Zange has no personal interest in Jin? It's not her who likes Jin.. it's Hakua... I'm sure you'll love the back story for that once it gets animated in season 2.

As for Tsugumi her type absolutely gets slaughtered in these types of shows (boy meets magical girl, god, alien etc) and nothing in the first season convinces me this will be an exception to the rule. I won't even bother to bring up the manga.

Really, if I have my shipper glasses on when talking about canon pairings, then you'd see me adamantly insisting that AobaxKoh would be canon in the Cross Game threads, when I think her chances are AT BEST 50/50 (even lower than the usual 70/30 I give for the archetype).

Good god please don't tell me you think the girl from vol 11 is a viable threat. Her lateness in being introduced is already a massive disadvantage but what she looks like screams plot device/catalyst instead of being viable LI alternative. And while I like the AobaxKoh pairing I'm far from coming anywhere near shipping them, so no I'm not wearing goggles Azuma is the bigger threat in all seriousness...
