Miharu is getting really annoying. Otherwise, it was an enjoyable episode.
By the way, I can't help but feel bad for Hideyoshi, since he basically had to end up by himself for the bathhouse scene, and Yuuji, although if they included more of how he treated Akihisa in the manga/light novels, I'd probably care less. |

I'm not at all surprised by the divergent reactions to this week's episode, because I think this is the one that's really going to start shaking the tree, as it were. This was Baka-Test to the extreme - it's absolutely true that the jokes were repetitive and pretty broad. But I think the point is, if you really surrender your brain to this material that makes it even funnier - it just goes past where you think it has to stop and it keeps going. That's the joke. If that doesn't work for you (and I can see where it wouldn't) this might not be a bad time to abandon ship. If you're a true Baka at heart, I think this ep was absolutely hilarious.
Hideyoshi continues to be a win for me. Sure, he's just another trap - but the interesting twist here is that he's a trap by nature, not by choice - all he wants is to be taken seriously as a guy, and he can't do it. The Hideyoshi changing room was a good gag, but to recycle it at the sento - that was pure baka genius. Those scenes of Hideyoshi bathing with the accompanying soundtrack had me almost in tears from laughing so hard - without a word of dialogue. Why? I can't even tell you - that's Baka-Test. It's either funny or it isn't.

My god, that green-haired girl (I think her name is Aiko or something), even though she didn't really make an impression in her earlier appearances, really stole parts of the episode with her mad trolling. Especially in the bath scene where she's like "hey hey, did you know all the baths are connected?" getting Voyeur and Yoshi burned.

I feel the same thing as well. But it seems that the anime chose the path of focusing on the comical parts of everyone (even if they follow their own storyline). Anyway, if things goes on like this I'm pretty much afraid we'll be seeing a lot of us hunting for Akihisa+Hideyoshi BL doujins. D:

Sprechen ze deutsch? Geez it's bad enough we have Engrish, now we get to hear some Deutschongo.
Well yeah this episode had some sexy results, but they were very mixed on the humour front just the same. It's like some of the episode was generic pool side gag fare while the rest had that Baka Test charm I've come to love. The bizarre Deutschongo scene and the Hideyoshi change/bath room were among them. I especially liked the later because I tend to appreciate "semi-surrealist referential humour" (if the term doesn't exist I'm coining it right now by the way) and in fact use it all the time to confuse and bemuse the folks at work. Definitely better than the average pool episode though. Even if the show is starting to reuse it's jokes and the animation got a little "QUALITY" at parts. Also G Gundam parody FTW! Anyone who can point it out gets a free rep cookie! |

Okay, that's it. This show just can't be pretended to be any kind of a social satire like Zetsubou Sensi or even something more of a psychological-banter-worthy show like Katanagatari/Bakemonogatari or even have the silly novel-conversion feel of the Durarara show. This show is just Hideyoshi Fanservice Special™.
