Help Running KGNE Game

Windows XP
I've done the following...

I got daemon tools 3.41
I mount the image(works)
On English mode installed the game...
age folder is on my harddrive. when I run i get that rUGP error.

Now, i set all settings into japanese, with the controlpanel>Language settings>advance>Japanese, and the first tab and the 2nd tap thingy too

System Reboots

I try running the game again
Now i get some error, this time in japanese
Game still doesn't run
Now i try mounting the the image again, doesn't work
I turn on all options, still doesn't mount, image is unaccessible or something
Changed DVD region to region 2
Still does not work

tried alcohol 120%, still does not work. Doesn't even recognize the image file.

Now i switch back to english... System reboots again. Now i can mount the image once again, but when i install i get the same error. Something weird comes up during the installation. looks like an error but not sure. But when i try to run again, rUGP error pops up again.

Switches to japanese mode again, system reboot
Image can no longer be mounted, when i start the game i get an error in japanese.

How do I get this to work? Help please?

You dont have to switch back and forth from Japanese to english, that's not the point.
Make sure all these are done:
1st, uninstall your game
2nd, in Regional and Lanuage settings, at the 2nd tab, click on install files for east asian lanuages, install those files (probably off your cd or from hd)
3rd, mount again and reinstall and see if it works

I didn't do a thing and it worked perfectly on two systems...
just install, and run... (two different systems, one XP home on XP pro)...

Maybe I'm just lucky =/
but I don't think anything needs be done =(
what's the error message in Japanese say?

Since I have never used an English-language only OS, I couldn't be of much help...but, whatever the case, KgNE (CD-ROM and DVD versions) and MuvLuv all worked perfectly under Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows 2000 and Windows XP Pro (all Japanese versions though)

All I can suggest is:

A. uninstall the game
B. Make sure your OS can handle Japanese fonts (not sure how to do it since mine is in Japanese anyway)
C. reinstall the game

As for the rUGP error message, I've no idea what that is. Personally, age's rUGP system is one of the most stable ones in the erogame industry (in comparison to that buggy system in Leaf's "Comic Party" and most Alicesoft games)

btw, do English-language only OS have UTF-8 installed? It could be that?

I don't know it this will help, but I'll make a few suggestions that allowed me to get the DVD to work:



#1. Rename the image file to an english filename (e.g. kiminozo.cdi)

#2. Change the Unicode to Japanese (or S.A.R Chinese... cuz I think that works as well... but the directory names will be messed.)

#3. Mount the image file

#4. Delete the game, and REINSTALL

#5. Keep the system's unicode in Japanese
(Switching unicode back to english will mess up the registry, and the game won't run.)


I did that, and I was able to play the game without errors.
Of course, I haven't been able to switch my unicode back yet.

BTW, for people that insist to change unicode setting to Japanese, you can d/l a program called microsoft appLocale, this will allow you to change unicode setting without reboot your machine (it specify the lanuage to a whatever executable you want to run)

yeah actually i had the same problem and i gave up hehe

the error you problem got was something like:

deta ga mituskarimasen.
(couldnt find the data)

the major problem right now is, Both Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120% are not letting me mount the cdi image when I'm on during Japanese uni-code, when on English uni-code they mount fine, but then installation is messed. =/

If the installation completed successfully but the game cannot run, most probably you can solve it by a small registry hack.

(Make sure you know what you are doing before apply the changes)
Start/Run/regedit
browse to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\relic UGP Applications\age"
If you install the game under AppLocale or Japanese codepage you should find a subkey called "君が望む永遠DVDspec." under the above location.
Then if you try and failed to run the game, you should also notice a strange key beside the above. On my system it looks like "ｧg?ｱ・･ﾃｻｷDVDspec." It doesn't matter what it really is, just copy this name, remove this whole subkey and rename the "君が望む永遠DVDspec." subkey to this name.

My experiment shows that Applocale helps in installation and playing but cannot affect the registery, so all the mess happen.

Installing the game in an english UI / using english unicode?
- The game will probably not install (due to the japanese directory having incompatible charactgers.)


You could, however, switch to Jap, install, rename the dir to english, then switch back to english, and change the registry...

that might work... (and yes it is a lot of work, so I didn't bother)
