The romance with Juubei could've been done better, but that applies true to pretty much most adaption that's constrained by no.of episode limitations. I actually think it's not bad, and was actually pretty decent.
Sagara had sufficient moments where he was able to look pretty impressive in front of Juubei, and has actually done more than most harem leads in terms of drawing the pull. Besides, all things considered, I actually thought the cuts made perfect sense, given that they ended the season at that note. A strong, climatic ending that reinforces the romance enough, is well done enough to be an ending on its own note, yet leave enough teaser for a 2nd season. While I often advocate for adaptions to be accurate to their source material, I'd say the way Nobuna closed its season to be a great alternate as well... and at times, a better option.

I agree. Soemtimes, y'just don't want to overdo these things -- especially when it comes to transitioning from one medium to another. While the print version has plenty of room to embellish and give more detail -- the animation does not (due to time and resource limitations). So, it becomes a matter of picking and choosing, what gets animated or not.
This thing with Juubei. Well... she was impressed by the Monkey at some point (can't remember right now); and it grew to her wanting his "shaft". That's all there is to it. No need to get into the detail of that anyways.

I had a lot more fun with this series than its premise would have led me to believe. Loli, romance, action, lovely female lead, loli, a steady pacing, Sengoku Jidai, loli, loli, loli...
Though it might have been a different kind of fun with another, militaristic "Sagara" was the one who got lost in time instead. Quote:

Am I the only one who liked the anime ending more than how the summaries depicted it? After all the anime needed a closure, while the novels just went on with comedy at that point, after all.
Spoiler for about ending:
Well, there was a ton of stuff left out, but nothing they couldn't show next season or in possible ovas, right? |
