Voice Acting (VA) in Shuffle!
I've seen that there wasn't such a thread opened yet, so I decided to start this.
What do you think about the Voice Actors in Shuffle ? By this basically I mean: a)How good they was in their work, each by each. Personally on Shuffle I've found good dubs and and not so good ones. b)How did their voices were; or how the way they act have fit their character. c)Aside your faction, which one was your preferred. d-e-f...)Add whatever you want, but please stay in topic and be polite To start, here's a list of main characters/voice actors (credits to ANN) Rin Tsuchimi ---> Tomokazu Sugita Asa Shigure ---> Miki ITOU Kaede Fuyou ---> Yuko GOTO Nerine ---> Haruka Nagami Lisianthus ---> Sayaka AOKI Primula ---> Hitomi Mayumi Thyme ---> Miki INOUE Ama Shigure ---> YURIA Nadeshiko Benibara ---> Chinomi Takema Kareha ---> Yura Hinata Eustomas ---> Juurouta KOSUGI Forbesii ---> Toshiyuki MORIKAWA Itsuki Midoriba ---> Hideki OGIHARA Out of these, the only one I actually recognized was Rin's seiyuu, which I remembered as Hideki in "Chobits" . (Chii... Hideki! Chii... Hideki!) The other ones are mostly new entries for my ears, although Eustomas and Forbesii's dubber seem to be quite famous in Japan since they both have a very long list of roles, in past years.

As for the roles in Shuffle!, I think the best dubbers are the ones of Asa, Primula (is it hard to dub emotionless?) and Ama (gotta love YURIA's performance <3 ). The others either speak too little or just don't get to the level of those three. For example, I found Tomokazu Sugita's Performance (as Rin) rather bad in the beginning, while it gained quality (in my opinion) during the series' development. On a sidenote, I liked Itsuki's voice (or performance thereof). I don't know how hard it is to dub such a character, but it suited Itsuki's behaviour or type very well! As for Miki Itou, I also liked her as Miki in Zettai Shonen. Less outgoing there, but still fitting to the character. Must be due to her being a veteran

Focusing on a few at a time....
Yuko GOTO (Kaede) had some of the most effective delivery of some juicy dialog .... quite a dynamic range. VERY impressive when you compare it to her Lamune's Nanami character voice.... she's got quite a range. I love Haruka Nagami's voice (Nerine) but have found almost nothing else. If anyone has pictures of her, I'd love to see them --- serious google scrounging has turned up nothing. For a while I thought Asa was voiced by the same person who voiced Lady Miao in Tsukikage Ran (wow they sound alike) but the credits list different names. And of course, Yuria has *that voice* .... she also sings the ED on Canvas 2 using both her "wee" voice and her more throated voice. Be interesting to see if she does any more voice work. Someone said that doing anime tended to put a shadow on musical careers... but it looks like with KOTOKO, Asakawa Yuu, Team Hinoi, and the like .. that prejudice is cracking a bit.

This is funny. I just started Fate-stay Night, and noticed the voice actress for Fuji-nee was Miki Itou. I immediately logged on to Animesuki with the intention of mentioning it in the AAA thread, but this thread very conveniently popped up.

I recognized Hideki Ogihara (Itsuki's VA) from his role as Makimura Koutarou, the male lead in Natsuiro no Sunadokei. This was a two-episode anime from 2004 based on a PS2 game by the same name. It's not going to win any awards, but I certainly enjoyed it very much. Definitely different from most romance-game adaptations: the male lead is decisive and prompt to act, his best friend gives good advice and is actually useful, the love interest is identified immediately and doesn't change, and there is very little in the way of fan service. The cast of characters is small, but check out the other voice talent!

It was only Rin's VA that I knew before I started the show, since someone mentioned to me Mayama in Honey and Clover was doing the lead for another show. Only later did I notice he did Hideki as well, but I still think his best work was in H&C, one of the best anime I have seen in years in terms of scripting and acting, shoujo anime or not.
The rest of the cast, I've seen a lot of the shows they were in, but none of them IMO stood out. Even Forbessi's VA who has a very large list of roles, but it's only because I've never seen any if his shows since he usually appears in action shounen anime, which I'm not a very big fan of. One exception is Inuyasha, but all I ever watch of that is the dubbed version aired in TV, so I don't hear him there either. Interesting note though is Hitomi. Primula and Tohno from Tsukihime (the fighting game version) are as different as night and day. XD |

I remember a thread like this before the forum went down. Forbesii's VA has done Ryu's (from Street Fighter) voice! Therefore Forbesii must be able to shoot Hadokens!
I hope YURIA will do more voices in the future! But then again, I'll always associate that voice with Ama. |

Yuria is by far my fav' seiyuu in the whole of Shuffle.
But then again - Miki Itou has done some very good work - when i think of Her playing Android 18 i just laugh, but Her playing the role of Fuyumi in Saikano has to be my fav' role for Her.. very good seiyuu work there. ^^
