I mean, her character design was awesome. Her (FIRST, FIRST, NOT THE NEW CRAPPY ONE) outfit flows beautifully when she moves or jumps or falls. She has a transforming gun-sword weapon. SHE HAS THAT GRAVITY THING. And really? They gave us a total menu-driven turn based game? They could have done so much with that.

Yeah, except back in the 8- and 16-bit eras, that was a viable excuse. You didn't have the resources to drive a fully-fleshed real-time game.
There's no fucking excuse for that menu-driven crap now. None whatsoever--look at Dark Souls, look at Deus Ex Human Revolution, look at Skyrim.

Also, never bring Skyrim into the picture to convince me, I find the combat horribly boring there. Just as there are good and bad turn-based, there are also good and bad arpgs. Anyway, back on topic. I'm really interested in how the combat in ff15 would work, because I honestly can't tell how much of it was actually being controlled. If anything, the whole trailer, as good as it looks, felt very scripted to me. |

Wow... that trailer was just plain out sexy. Of course, I wonder if they're going to have to change the reason why it was originally called Versus XIII (other than the fact that XIII was the next in line): it was set in the same world as XIII, just a different part. But I suppose that's a minor issue
As for being an action RPG... granted, there's a bunch out there that I haven't played (Skyrim, Dragon Age, etc...), but maybe it'll sort of play like the Darksiders series did? Namely, you have your action elements, but you also have your shortcuts, weapons and armor upgrades, leveling up, etc... (or did I just describe the entire basis of all current Action RPGS?)

The game was initially claimed to be part of the same universe as FFXIII (and Type-0) under a common (Fabula Nova Crystallis) mythology. However the exact worlds these games take place in was confirmed to be different. So it should be interesting to see how the roles of the crystals and gods in this particular plot differ from FFXIII's mythology.

Hmm... so you have a party of 3 it seems like, but we mostly only ever see Noctis. Wonder how you control/set the ai for those people, and what they bring to the party, as this doesn't seem like your typical FF game.
Although it's interesting that the boy running with the girl in the beginning had shorts, while Noctis has pants that go past his knees. Mayhaps Notcis and Stella are childhood friends? I sure hope so, since SE refuses to release Type 0.

Honestly, I'm worried that the only playable characters are those 4 guys according to the trailer.

If that's true I'll probably give it a miss. I'm reaching the point of frustration with the industry where I'm going to start voting with my wallet and only buying games with female protagonists, and (where applicable) games that don't force me into straight romances.
