Spoiler for manga spoiler:
But then that'd leave almost nothing, and we'd have to wait 2 years for another season ;_; The crystallization part does seem like a 2nd best choice though.

Just saw 17....why doesn't the anime just put up a written explanation of the plot and the answer to every question after the episode? Because they are already pretty much giving away everything to the anime viewers...
Seriously, back when this chapter came out in the manga you barely read any theories on who the female titan was yet in page two of the episode thread they already have a theory that Reiner is the Armored titan xD It's like the anime is spoon feeding the viewers. |

^ Yes they are, but it might just be the difference in medium. The manga is black and white so we had no indication of hair/eye color; the fighting style isn't evident with static panels; the steam effects are very vague and there definitely is no sound as an extra hint.
Or you know... maybe everyone's just been that badly spoiled. xD

And yea...wouldn't surprise me if some of the "anime only" guys are just manga or spoiled guys claiming they have super accurate predictions. |

The anime made it quite obvious considering how they [Annie and Reiner] were depicted. The second ED, starting in episode 14, gave away a lot as well.
With that said, I already have a strong suspicion as to the identity of the Ape Titan based on the manga drawings alone - though other references, as well as the trend of Titans resembling an already-known character, support my conclusion.

You have a guess on who the Ape Titan is? Do share, because I always thought he was a new character since he didn't seem to know beforehand that people started using 3D maneuver gear.
Yes, she probably is the eldest (unless some shifter spent MORE than 60 years outside). Did you notice something interesting from Norse mythology yet?

You know, it doesn't really matter if the anime's more transparent than the manga in terms of foreshadowing. I'm pretty sure that the Female Titan's identity wasn't the biggest surprise for the readers. If it was, then why did Isayama have to draw it so similarly (especially when it was adapted in the anime) to a certain character when he just could've gone for a more outlandish look?
I think that the biggest surprise was set for Armin, who had already deduced that it was a Titan Shifter from the get-go and already made a process of elimination of who the Titan could be. He only confirmed it by making the Titan react to his extremely personal and contextual lines of Eren being killed, deducting that the Titan definitely knows that Armin is talking about Eren, in which only a few people he knows could possibly figure out. I would normally assume that the Female Titan was drawn so similarly to Annie so that Armin would have a reasonable basis of who he has suspicions on without making him look like he's reading in much more deeply than a character usually can. If it looked like a bald, no-skin 15m Titan with boobs, then I would have a hard time believing that he'd be able to put the pieces together and know what words to say to rile the Titan up and distract it during the latest episode. So all in all, the reveal was pretty much more important for Armin as a character than it is to us as an audience. They probably wouldn't be surprised that all of these theories are already being formed here. |

The Gods created Midgard by defeating Ymir, the first Juton, and used his body to give it's initial shape. To protect Midgard and humankind from the Jutons, they constructed fences around Midgard using his eyebrows. The area within the fence was considered Innangard (which was orderly and civilized) whereas the outer area was Utangard (a place of chaos). Jutenheim, the land of the Giants, is in Utangard. Within Utangard, stood Castle Utgard, a stronghold of the Jutons. The name Juton had an original meaning of "man-eater." The Juton had a semi-hostile relationship with the Gods thus engaged in battle, friendly contests and even marriage with them. As to my speculation of the Ape Titan... Spoiler:

Hell, when I first read SnK, I didn't even remember there was an armored titan. They also messed up the scene with Reiner getting crushed, by showing him actually getting crushed. Also, the OP and ED placed too much emphasis on the top 10 and Ymir. I barely remembered any of them aside from the MCs since they were shown as background characters and I thought they were unimportant. I'm very glad I found the manga way before the anime, the latter's making it too obvious. |

I'm also unsure of how people couldn't have guessed Eren was the Titan in his first appearance, either. I mean, he's the main character, it's not like they're going to just murder him not even a fourth into the season, and suddenly after his "death" this strange new Titan shows up. All I'm left to really guess at now is the Behemoth's true identity, which I get the feeling is the leader of the Corps. |

Well, while I have to agree with Randrak42 about Reiner, I can't say the same for female titan.
When I was reading the manga back then the first thing that popped to my mind was Annie because of hair and because she spared Armin's life. That Eren was the titan back then was pretty obvious, at least I think so. I didn't spoil myself while reading the manga, so I never would've thought those two guys were Armored+Behemoth, that was quite a surprise. Though I guess thinking back there were lots of hints xD |

Anyways you think Monkey Troubles is the leader of Corps? He didn't know what 3DMG was though.

I posted my thoughts above regarding the Ape Titan. Realize, though, that amnesia seems to be common with the artificial Titans such as Eren, Reiner, Bertholdt and Ymir. So it's possible the Ape Titan is someone from inside the Walls but the 3D gear isn't something he remembered due to partial memory loss.
