That was such a cute scene I thought she was going to go in for a kiss. That would have been awsome. She was straight up falling for him and her mom knew it. Now it's all gone

I think she is going to remember him now. Based of her actions and how she looked. To me it felt like she was thinking to herself to make sure she remembered him. I think he will be connected to that memory and not forgotten now. That help ease some of the pain going on now.

Yes, except she may have forgotten about her condition, too. Or her condition might have been over-written with something new. This is not a weekly reset. This is a shock to the system. All bets are off.

You know, I always instinctly thought someone hurt her, and she's trying to protect herself from a repeat performance. I never considered guilt. The things you take for granted, huh?

Even so this event had me wondering even more what happened way back when. Perhaps Hajime was getting ready to move to Hokkaido and Kaori was running to see him off or something similar? Phrases like "traitor" kinda make me think romantic things were not the main issue.

That'd be my guess.

Well, whatever happened it was in elementary school, and to hold a grudge for so long seems kinda... I dunno... petty? So perhaps there was something else entirely going on in addition to everything else for Hajime we don't know about and he might be uncomfortable speaking about - death in the family, breakup of parents, etc., that hit him hard and which made Kaori not showing up all the more painful. Something like that I could understand a little more....

He never learned about the accident. I'm suspecting they were best friends, they make some arrangement, she doesn't show up, and he has to leave without seeing her again. Fair enough. I'd suspect he'd have tried to contact her? Prime method I suspect would have been a letter. But in the chaos after the accident nobody would have answered. Basically, there's no closure for Hajime. Eventually, he'll move on, but without that closure, and that uncertainty nagging at him like background radiation. And then he sees her and she doesn't even know who he is. What's he supposed to think?

It's probably not so much a grudge as it's sudden, unexpected closure to open question from the past - apparently confirming his worst case scenario. (And, yes, added emotional baggage isn't unlikely - I'd really like to see his kiddy version - style change?)

Of course I may be wrong, but that's what I'm imagining right now.

I agree Dawn after the Mom's story I figured some friend or friends caused the issue. I also think its possible that everything we have seen has been erased. I think our boy's only chance will be that diary. I hope she dont throw it out and will read it. Her Mom likes him so she may help out also.

Yeah, I bet he'll be redeemed in later episodes, but he seemed like a massive douche here. What could she have done to have deserved such hostility from an action she did as a child? Get over it, buddy.

lol, I don't think Hajime is THAT bad.
I mean I dislike him because he triggered Karou to relapse, when everything was peachy.

But all he did was go "oh so you did forget me, whatever back @ you"
and then she went all "arghahga" and fainted.

I'm pretty sure Hajime isn't aware of her condition, I'm betting he also freaked out, probably not as much as the others, but a bit for sure.

That seems to be the case, and proceeding from this speculation it may be that the amnesia is caused by Kaori's attempt to cope with the guilt for failing to meet Hajime (even though it's clearly not her fault).

However if they simply needed to meet and say goodbye or whatever their reactions are way too exaggerated.
Kaori wouldn't need to be so sorry that she'd want to erase her memories and Hajime wouldn't call her "traitor" and still hold a grudge.
I wonder what kind of situation involving kids could be so dramatic to cause all of that.

I’m slightly worried about this attempt to add some drama when things were progressing so well,we have only 3 episodes remaining and there haven’t been any hints of a storm coming(Kujou’s very brief appearance last week might’ve signified this but until then there was nothing). It’s just that things were progressing so naturally that it feels like this wasn’t needed.

But eh,maybe I’m just paranoid.
