Well the best way to understand Rance is to play the game.

His a B*STARD with capital letters. No question ask. The worst of the worst but his also a softie or has his own rule that he follows.

That's my point. The guy was a douche-bag
But a spectacular one, and for the better or worse, he certainly did influence history in a huge way

If you're going to play a Rance game, just accept that his moral compass, or lack of it will not match yours.

Oh, I found this nice image

It'd be difficult to watch a Rance series/adaptation without either Suzume or Kenshin.

Rance reminds me a lot of Giacomo Girolamo Casanova or Opera's Don Giovanni. Yet very little of the posters here seem to realize this type of character has been with us in life and literature since at least the eighteenth century.

I understand that Sengoku Rance is quite popular because until recently it was the only game with a translation, but why does it even come up in this thread? Sengoku Rance is the seventh game in the series, taking place ~4 years after the events of Rance 01...

My jaw dropped when I saw this thread.
So I don't see anyone really clearing it up, is it a TV anime or an ero-anime?

Didn't say they should be in, just that it'd be difficult to watch without them. Popular characters and all, you know?

Also, just noticed you said "until recently"... has another Rance game gotten a translation?

1,2 , 3, 4, 4.1 and 4.2 are trans.

kikuchi Rance is 92% done.

the rest partially trans.

edit: looking at the Alice game translation status page, didn't realize so games has been 100% translated.

Put it this way. Rance is the best bro you can ever ask for. Just don't introduce him to your mother, your sisters, and especially your girlfriend/wife.

He's the ideal mate to go crazy with.

I was really surprised that Rance actually is going to be made into anime. From the original developer perspective, Alicesoft been struggling as a whole as the whole eroge industry isn't doing particularly well. I guess it is an effort for Alicesoft to try to reboot itself with its IP.

Anyway, I have played Rance. The games were fun. Rance isn't just your usual eroge; it has many strategy and RPG elements, and the characters are famously known to be hilarious and ridiculous. If you want a real life person that somewhat like Rance, try Silvio Berlusconi and Rob Ford - a total buffoon and talk/act ridiculously all the time, and yes, don't forget his "hyper-weapon" (if you know what I mean, lol). I think Rance can be made into anime; there were series out that were border-line H with a protagonist that is totally crazy and give no regard to other.

Thinking about it, if this doesn't retcon stuff to bring in later stuff early... the biggest change for me will be the lack of Chaos.

Anyone know whether Rance Sengoku in Japan also much more popular than other installment?

Because based on figure released, it seems Sengoku is much more popular as well . So wondering why didn't they just go with airing the popular Sengoku first

because it will be like airing airing Cell Saga before Saiyan saga

If I'm not mistaken, he doesn't get it until Rance 3, and then by the end disappears again until Rance 6.
