I have never read Yakitate,but this is a school training chefs for upper class restaurants.The chefs are not supposed to make popularized food.If you come up with a new recipe,you are supposed to keep it to yourself and make it your trademark.They are supposed to be making food for the super rich who wants something new,tasty and unique.No one even tries to make common food except for the MC.

Dafuq is this author doing, dropping a bomb all of sudden. Then for what was all this effort? Why making so much fuss around Soma's dish, what did he struggle for?! We've seen how Soma's dish has developed over the past 10-15 chapters instead of Hayama's dish, and for what? What did the author wanted to prove?! Or maybe he thought it'd be more funny this way, since everyone could've anticipated how it would turn out?

Point is that this isn't supposed to be some sort of design competition to get a recipe mass produced in retail shops.The theme 'for the masses' could be interpreted as simply as don't use over exotic,expensive ingredients that the masses can't afford.In this match,Curry Boy didn't use any exotic spices or ingredients.He used normal ramen soup base and sugar.What he relied on was technique.

It was something that caters to the masses but Hayama made a more unique dish then the others which gave him the slight edge. Soma's biggest problem now is originality and uniqueness which every time he loses he always takes it to heart and learns why and how he lost then improves his skills to fix those areas.

Because of the theme Akira should have lost since there wont be anyone else who can make the same food as him and that cant be called common food but he goes against the theme and still win why ?

Soma should have won since even peole who doesnt have special powers can make his dish and its common but he lost because of that why ?

To me it seems jury didnt care shit about the theme and just gone with the food which is more unique seems relly unfair , then why did they even bother about the theme ?

Somas good point is him being a commoner where you can find everywhere so why did jury punished hm for that ?

Isnt it impossible to win against those who have talent if system covers for them whats fair about this , i feel like author really messed up here . In the first place if you cant win without being unique then why did we read last chapter where commoners got their hopes up , isnt that too cruel for them .

I thought that originality and uniqueness should've already been clear from the beginning of this title. Does it mean that Soma right from the beginning didn't cook with this 2 attributes, then how has he been winning so far, or was he lucky to meet all of his opponent who lacked this 2? Isn't originality and uniqueness about inventing one's own dish with one's own ideas? Then Hayama who resorted to using standard/plain methods was more unique and original just by copying a run-of-the-mill dish with nothing outstanding?

As I've explained many times before,Curry Boy didn't go out of theme.The theme requires the participants to use simple,affordable ingredients,not delicacies.Curry Boy used cheap ingredients that's commonly used in ramen soup.The common masses cares about originality as well.

Bread is a commoner's food that is eaten by everyone so it's not allowed to be unique. This series is about high-class cuisine and real chefs are expected to have a trademark dish. You don't go to Jiro's sushi shop and expect noodles.

Moe answered your question already but I'll illiterate. Alice lost because she made something that could have easily fit into another theme and not because she went out of it. Hayama didn't go out of theme, the theme was commonality of the ingredients and not the dish itself. The same would have been if it was a hamburger that only Hayama could have made.

Hayama did not seem to break the theme. He seemed to have followed the theme.
One way to look is that Hayama is probably the only one (probably exaggeration) who could make his mass food for all due to his speciality in spices and "god-nose" while dishes of Soma and Ryou could be replicated by (many) other (talented) cooks.

They all cooked dishes for mass in the same quality, it's that judges decided to go with a tiebreaker that favored Hayama. They maybe could have instead used a criteria that could favor either Ryo or Soma but it just so happen that settled on criteria that is "originality" (or more accurate term, exclusiveness) that ended up favoring Hayama. We could chalk it up as a tendency (or even bias) of the school and cooking establishment that seems to be more catered to high class food.

The fact that tiebreaker is the result of advantages that Hayama apparently enjoyed (like his tutoring under Jun and his "god nose") is what is not going well with some folks here because it is not something that Soma or Ryo could anything about.

I think that win will bite Akira later and he will loose one of the elite 10 with disgrace . Shounen characters can loose in events like these where nothing to gain but when it matter they will win , the matches Soma won before had always something at stake but this macth didnt have that . Soma will take Akiras revenge and save him so we will loose about his looses also he will get a power up because of his loose . I am waiting for Akiras smug face painted with despair lol anyway Soma will save the day dont worry .

I disagree. Its not as if Souma/Ryou can't overcome that hurdle, they could just improve on other critical factors like taste/presentation/flavor, as well. But it seems that they haven't reached that level, yet.

Souma's words are telling at the end, when he has this realization of him 'needing' to have his own cooking. You can tell its his shortfall atm, should he be in a similar match in the near future.
