Kija could pull off crossdressing too, if he stuffed the bra with something other than apples (though the dragon arm would be too suspicious for infiltration purposes). XD |

Ao remains best boy....
Can't wait until next week....though I guess at this point, we're going for an anime original ending. Poor Yellow Dragon will barely be introduced at this point unless the animation team decides to make a third season. Gigan's gonna die isn't she? I get death flags. The Handsome Bishonen also makes a cute girl. KiJa almost got it right except for Dat Hand. Being Hak is suffering.

You know me too well... (Wish gifs would come with sounds because Ao's little "oh-choo" is so adorable!)
That was a great episode! So many scenes of Ao cuteness that I nearly died! Yona should never have let Ao sit on her shoulders because now I don't see her anymore...my eyes always get distracted to Ao. Poor Hak...being all hot and angsty. I was about to switch him in as my avy but Flower will kill me if I betray Ao... Captain Gigan is one awesome and dignified woman! Wish the mangaka did an extra chapter about her when she was younger. If Yona will mature to be half like Gigan then she'll do well. (Heck, if Gigan was the heroine instead of Yona then I bet this series will be on a whole other level!) I think I know where the anime will end but it will most likely leave an opening for a third season if they decide to make one...which I hope they will because I need my Ao fix each week!!!! Also, given how things go, the anime most likely won't reach that event where Yona faces the Fire Tribe army shown in the first or second episode flashforward. So I'm thinking maybe they are setting it up so that a third season is possible if things go well. Looks like Ao will do some espionage next episode...oh wait, were there other characters besides Ao in this series? This is the first time a furry sidekick character has detracted me this much in a series... Edit: And where in the world did Yun pull that perfect female voice from?!!!

I actually thought PreSage and everyone else was either crazy squirrel lovers, or were just seriously joking before about Ao being best chara. But after this episode, I'm fully convinced and supporting the fact now. shameful of me for being hesitant to state it last week I look forward to Ao's moment of badassery in the upcoming battle!
Cap'n Gigan is of course just as praise worthy too like Ao. Am definitely curious to how she has risen up to be the capable pirate captain she is, and do wonder what sort of adventures / experiences she has had in the past... Yun makes for quite the dashing beauty too.

Was it just me, or was Ao especially cute this episode? I didn't remember that mustache scene from the manga, so it caught me quite off guard.
I really enjoyed the scene between the Gigan and Yona. It was heartfelt, and for someone who had been stripped of everything and been on the run for so long now, it must have been quite a bit of healing for Yona to have a mother-figure to lean on, as brief as it was. By the way, what's with this talk about a third season? Aren't we jumping the gun a bit? We should be crossing our fingers for a second season first! The fact that Pierrot's doing it raises our chances a bit... I think I know where they will end this season, so I'm hoping we get a second. The stuff that comes after was delightful to read. Quote:

I really like the scene between Gigan and Yona this episode. It was so emotional and had so much impact. I know Yona and Yun will be ok, so the suspense is not really there for me. I'm just wondering how they get there. It looks like Yona will struggle a lot next episode to get the fireworks set off. My only complaint was why they didn't just use Shin-ha to see which boat had the women in them? I thought his "sight" allowed him to distinguish different people at a far distance. I think this is the only flaw to the plot, but it is used to help Yona grow as a character.

In any case I was glad she had the spotlight, because I liked her the moment I saw (and heard) her. She should stay as a supporting character at least. Sadly I have bad feeling about her.

It's an Ao revolution to conquer the world...one series at a time. And no one can escape from his cute paws. Quote:

All hail the power of P'kyuu.
This arc hasn't grabbed my attention as much as the other arcs- partly because Jae-ha is probably my least favourite dragon (never really liked the womanisers, heh) of the lot, and partly because I think the plot-driven nature of this particular arc makes the show lose a certain something it had before- which is odd, considering that there are a few plot-driven shows that I hold in high esteem. I'm still kind of enjoying it (Yona and Yoon have a few excellent scenes), but now I'm also impatiently awaiting the Yellow Dragon's arrival- at the the pace the show's going, he probably only be around for two or three episodes, tops. Pity too, since he's my favourite character in the whole series. |

They've definitely played up the rodent's antics in the anime version, and much for the better. Ao had another stellar week, but my favorite moment was with the moustache when he put his paws behind his back and got that, "Yeah - I'm a badass" thing going on.
For a series with as great a pair of leads as this show has, it's amazing how much Ao and Yoon steal every episode lately. That scene between Hak and Yona was great, but the one with Hak and Yoon was its equal. I love the way Yoon summed up her character perfectly - yeah, he's physically week, he's not immune to fear, and he's lived a sketchy life to survive. But he's proud that he has, and of how tough he's become in subtler ways that Hak and the Dragons. And Hak has come to trust him because he knows that, and knows how much he cares for Yona. I do wonder, what with the jokes Yoon makes at his own expense ("I'd never marry a bum like you", "Yeah - I'll beat out his actual wife"), his admission that he's posed as a girl before, and the ease with which he slipped into the seductress role if Yoon's struggle to survive before Ik-soo found him might have been even more "wretchedly" than the series has spelled out.

@mweloo: *high fives for same favorite character* I am sad that the Yellow Dragon won't get near as much screen time (unless we get a 2nd season *crosses fingers*), but at the same time I'm so excited about seeing him animated.
I do really like this arc though. I like Jae-ha well enough, but the highlight is really Yona's development and how she comes to the decision that she's willing to put herself at risk to help others. |

Edit: Further still, he could have spied early on to see which boats they were loading people on, especially when they were loading Yona, which meant they could have rescued them before heading out to sea.

You're right! However, it still makes moot the fireworks part, since it becomes unnecessary if Shin-ha can spot Yona going to which boat. All of that is still moot when Shin-ha can just come to a point close enough to identify a ship full of women and children even before they leave shore.
