Whoever licenses this prospective new series for the US will either cast as many of the originals as are available, or go with an entirely new cast, or end up somewhere in between. That's how it always works. The original cast aren't always available. Even the other "fullmetal" series couldn't keep all of its American voice cast for its second iteration, and that was only after five or six years. The Japanese version didn't even try to for several of the major characters.

Either way, I can guarantee that nothing involving the US voice cast is even being thought about at this point.

Chris did say that he'll come back for Sousuke if his agent told him about it. Whether he needs to do with Funi themselves is another matter.

Mike passed away sadly years ago, that's man deep voice was absolutely perfect for Kalinin.

So all the hype in this thread actually made me go out and watch this franchise and I'm glad I did because it was great. Now I'm eagerly anticipating this new installment and hope it's just as good as Second Raid.

In case you're interested, my impressions were:

Spoiler for FMP:

• The first season was solid but not great (held back by the stale comedy and one arc story that felt like it was meandering the whole story - Behemoth arc).
• Fumoffu was a really good comedy although I was initially taken back by the more exaggerated actions of the main duo, especially Sagara (and very shocked by the blatantly racist joke in the rugby episode).
• The Second Raid was phenomenal. I disliked the outlandish joker-esque behaviour of the new villian but thankfully he was only there in small doses and I was absolutely amazed by the mecha action (and its animation) and the character drama for Sousuke. And somehow, the comedy just worked a lot better too.

I'm worried, this new Animation for this series looks awful in my opinion. Maybe I'm just so used to the way the old series looks.

Doesn’t matter. Thanks to FMP-TSR experience, the guy(s) in Kyoani who worked on TSR doesn’t want to make mecha anime ever again IIRC (probably due to the difficulties in making the hand-drawn mech battles). And that’s just one mecha series they handled. On the other hand, Sunrise & Bones have been doing hand-drawn mechs for a long time for many series, so mad props to them. How’s that for comparison?

They're better and more experienced than KyoAni at mecha which is all that matters for FMP.

I'll have faith that Bones can handle this thing. In the end I'm just glad this is happening. One of those sequels I thought would just never end up happening.

The latest Magazine scan concerning FMP new season does NOT tell us anything about the anime studio assigned to the rule. So right now Bones is de-confirmed until further notice.

It could still be them; but as of now there is no official proof.

Bones has like the best action fluidity and choreography out of any studio out there. Only Madhouse can match it at times and that's only for specific shows in specific scenes (See certain eps and scenes in Hunter x Hunter and One Punch Man) and occasionally Production IG (RIP wasted Guilty Crown animation and visuals).

May I remind you of Kyoukai no Kanata where sure it was fluid like your typical Kyoani show but the chereography was horrid. And that's leaving aside tonal whiplash issues. And before you say Full Metal Panic TSR ... that had a buttload of CGI despite the series being quite good.

And as other people said Bones has done a fair number of mecha shows in the past, with Eureka Seven being its crowning jewel. And despite what your opinions on Eureka Seven AO is, that had some kickass animation in it.

So no, I strongly disagree with Bones being inferior to Kyoani.

You know it's not going to be KyoAni anyway, it's a Tokyo studio. So why do you dislike Bones so much?

I don't want to be rude, but you know you're pretty crazy if you think BONES is a crappy studio. It's not kyoto animation, so you should've been over the moon if it were BONES. Cause they've proven themself with Mecha anime before (at least animation wise).
Good luck landing a studio anywhere near as good as them.

In my opinion, it will be good if Bones do this. They created a lot of good series and I never see bad levels of animations.
Considering that it's the studio that created that gem called Eureka Seven, I always trust them.

And Raxephon and Escaflowne. But people seem to associate bones mecha with Captain Planet and E7 AO, though I'm watching through AO atm and it's no where near as horrible as people claim it to be (and I love the original).
