I would surmise the author probably used elements of famous dragon myths like St. George and and the dragon, where St. George slew a dragon and saving the kingdoms princess from being eaten. In one version, St. George defeated the dragon but spared it's life, tied a leash around it's neck and it become the princess' pet.(I wonder what connections to Rika's sister being called Georgie?)
There's also a similar Japanese legend of the God Susanoo, that while on his journeys he met a crying man and his wife whose daughter is being served as sacrifice to the eight headed dragon Yamata no Orochi. Susanoo tricked the dragon into drinking lots of Sake, then while the dragon is drunk, chopped him up into little pieces. (He also found the sacred sword Kusanagi in it's tail). I guess in miss Kobayashi's case instead of slaying the dragon they just drink Sake to have good time. |

Watched episode 12:
Tohru is really a good maid now. Very skilled at cooking. The omurice made me feel hungry for scrambled eggs. >__< Tohru did some serious "shopping" in the other world. Went to Valhalla for delicious eggs. Stole water from elves. And killed a bull demon from????? Kobayashi is so lucky to hav e tasted an omurice like that. XD Shouta showing that he cares about Lucoa. And a surprise that Lucoa wears a lot of clothes in this ep. Fafnir once again showing that he is a nice guest. Although I'm still wondering who is now guarding the treasures at his home in the other world. His house might have been sacked by thieves already. Quote:

Fafner, I think just changes his priorities, from a hoard of gold hikikomori to a Otaku anime and games hikikomori. |

Well a part of the treasure might still be cursed and kill whoever possess it. There is also the fact that some of that treasure was stolen to begin with, and mythologically ended up back in the possession of the original owner at some point. Finally there is the poisonous miasma that still covers the area, which makes it pretty safe.

Spoiler for not going into details, but still playing it safe for those who haven't read the manga:

Someone just posted in the Anime BD/DVD discussion thread that 2016 had the least amount of series that sold an average of 10K copies since 2007. So, yeah just a bad year all around. But, for shows like this what really matters is rather or not the source material got an uptick, and by how much.

And there was the final episode.
It was a nice way to end the series, showing more about Toru and Kobayashi's relationship. Overall the series was good enough to keep me watching each episode, sometimes it was pretty average but other episodes were really good. It wasn't a big hit tho, poor rankings and predictions doesn't show any kind of increase. Still, a decent series, for me it was a 5/10, Lucoa the best girl without a doubt. |

Final episode was pretty entertaining.
I must say, this was a very fun ride and they actually made this episode feel more thrilling with the conflict of supernatural forces and dragons. Kobayashi takes steps up her game big time to make her point. The dragon fight was dope. I love how Tooru defends Kobayashi in the end. A happy ending too! Kobayashi and Tooru had one of the most charming character chemistry from this Winter season imo. Everything about them makes me want to see them more and more. Unfortunately, this is the finale. 8/10, very fun show. I'm going to miss this for sure.

Very well done episode that neatly wrapped the central themes of this series. This has to be one of the best adaptations in recent memory for me. The tweaks made to the story line rendered a smooth flow that was both entertaining and at time surprisingly poignant. I will miss this.
