Episode 23 is here and there's only one more left.
Really glad to see Titania and Oberon this episode. It's been awhile. I don't admire Cartaphilus much in this show but it's nice to get an insight on his character even if it's this late in the season. The fact that Chise saw his past is definitely bothering him considering what he's been through. A very intense and emotional episode.

Joseph and Cartaphilus were originally two different persons, huh. Cartaphilus didn't seem to be evil, since it was only after Joseph merged with him (or more like, took over) that they started killing people for body parts. He was probably the one trying to reach out to Chise in her dreams.
Loli Titania was nice, but damn if Oberon and her didn't look creepy as hell when they tried to bring Elias over to their side. They're not bad though, since they still helped him even after he rejected them. Can't believe there's only one episode left. I'll miss this show.

I'm very curious how the anime is gonna wrap up the story. As of this weekend's episode the anime and manga are on the same spot. It feels like the plot is demanding that Chise be the one to end Joseph/Cartophilus, but for someone whom no one could kill for over 2,000 years, I wonder how she's going to accomplish this without the story resorting to deus ex machina. There's also the thorny issue (no pun intended) of how she's going to reconcile with Elias, or if they'll even reconcile at this point. Personally, I don't want her to forgive him so easily and that they remain apart for a while longer, but I kinda doubt that's actually going to happen.

What was up with Titania being so far off model from her first appearance? All the other characters looked fine but her. Also, giving Chise a ride to help her catch up will never be enough for an apology. Yep, it appears she intends to kill Joseph.

Review and recap is done. This episode officially caught up to the manga and it's coming to an end soon.
I loved this episode. Not only does things with Chise feel so great from how we've watched her grow, but each and everyone of these characters feel like they have a fully-realized backstory to them that you just don’t know. Mariel’s past with Phyllis is one that I’d like to explore someday, along with what happened to Chise’s brother and father. And Alice's reaction when Renfred didn't have one, along with Blue Flame's talk, makes me believe she's got a lot of inherent talent. We're about to make a pact, aren't we? It makes sense given was introduced the same time that Ruth and the contract was introduced, so there's some good symmetry there. There wasn't as much differences between the manga and anime this time though: Spoiler for Manga differences:

I thought the episode explained it well. Loli Titania is just a "branch", basically a fragment of the real Titania, hence her looking like a little girl. We even see several other branches too. Your first explanation is correct, I don't see any reason to dig further than that.

Ooh, I thought the finale had some intense feelings. We got Chise trying to stop Cartaphilus and make things right. I felt the psychology of this finale was pretty well done. That insert song is also quite beautiful imo during that embrace scene.
After battling her own personal demons, she's also able to make up with Elias. and putting on a beautiful dress. Overall, I thought this was an incredible journey for Chise since being introduced in the beginning. It also adapted some of my favorite chapters from the manga and I'm quite satisfied with that. Going to miss this anime for sure.

Caught up with the anime just in time for the last episode to pop up. Wow, this anime was amazing! The visual and the music were big parts that made it one of the best. Will miss this show. Was surprised they ended it with Elias and Chise exchanging rings! lol, wonder if we'll get that in the manga end?

As far as a series ending this was about as good as I could hope for. The entire adaptation was really well done and I am happy with it. As far as the last episode goes...
The ending was satisfying but the conclusion of the Joseph story was a bit out of left field for me. Felt the reveal was especially unearned and just pulled out of thin air to explain Joseph. That was a bit of a let down. Their rings both being on blackened hands was an excellent visual though. Could I possibly ask for one more episode? Silky's story please! |

So Chise's solution to Joseph's problem was to use her specialty on him: putting people to sleep. This is merely a temporary solution though.
The ending provided a bit of closure, but there are still loose ends to tie up (Chise's dad and Ashen eyes mainly). I thought Chise forgave Elias and Ruth way too easily, but I understand they didn't really have time to properly show them making up. The end scene kind of made up for it anyway, assuming Elias makes good on his promise. 8/10. Really good show I enjoyed from start to finish.

It was a beautiful show, and it was satisfying to watch.
If I understand things correctly, did Cartaphilus separate from Joseph, making Joseph normal now? And not only that, Cartaphilus is now in Chise with the dragon curse to balance things out? Also, does this also mean that Ashen Eyes was the one who possessed Chise's mom to suicide? Other than that, there are 2 loose ends for me. The first is that at the end of the first cours, they showed Chise in some white magician outfit as a preview for the season, yet we didn't see any of that here. It had a hood, and she had a staff with green leafy things on top. It was definitely an awesome outfit, and I'm disappointed it wasn't shown in the actual series. The other loose end is what happened to her brother and father, assuming that Ashen Eyes was the one that brought her mom to death? Other than that, it was a very wonderful end to a wonderful series.
