An interesting question, but in order to do Metis have to at least leaving Phyllis for Hybride and meet Hiroto and becoming one of her allies. Keep in mind that the official ladies for Hiroto are Valkyria (Vampire), Mimia (Mummy), Sorceire (Human) and Excelis (Elf), and the few who comes close are Gezerkia, Raquel, Metis, Disgurd and sometimes even Freyas considering the latter vows retribution for her first defeat by Hiroto. Even if Vol.16 volume may reveals some of Metis's own life prior her service to Phyllis, her fate after her (would-be) retirement becoming even more ambiguous . Here is my speculations,

1. Metis will going to stay at Jugurtha for the rest of her life while someone else took her place as the next general alongside Gardel, for better or worse. Considering Phyllis's past mistakes in Book 6 (Invasion attempt onto Salabria),7 (Assassination attempt onto Hiroto),8 (Babylos's murder of Salabria Elves part), 13 (Alliance with Magia in a would be pincer attack onto Hybride), as well as 14 (Schemes with Magia-Regulus in rigging the Four Kingdoms Summit) & 15 (Freyas's attempt to crush Hybride and regain Phyllis's prominence, along Zieglete's assassination attempt onto Curele), mostly due to some of the kingdom's vengeful jerks who refused to letting og of their grudge against Hiroto and the vampires since Vol.6, it might not going to take long for one fool to even attempt to revive the Phyllis-Hybride rivalry again and Metis herself might to be needed for Phyllis to become a general again to correct Phyllis's wrongdoing, like Lagos to Magia.*
2. Her escape from Phyllis to Hybride and seek refuge at Salabria Hiroto again. Not sure if this is a plausible but if you read the raw version of Vol.6-even Vol.15 (not Vol.9 and Vol.12), it might be possible that the same aforementioned vengeful fools will tried to kill the one thing that kept the diplomacy between Hybride and Phyllis together. Keep in mind that according to the preview chapters, Metis's service to Phyllis was courtesy to Ismir (Queen of Gassel and also Eesh's younger sister), so she has to be a very important figure to Eesh and Phyllis in general. The problem though was that even her subordinates thought her meeting with Hiroto has changed Metis and some of them didn't quite fond of it. Remember the Vol.11 where Metis was feuding with Zieglete due to the latter's refusal to accept the peace between Hybride and Phyllis? It seems the same scenario will likely going to happen again...

(*) In Lagos's case, the Prime Minister was once exiled by Urseus simply because he urged the king to stop his antagonism against Hybride (especially Hiroto and the vampires). Not only Urseus refused to listen to the veteran since his plan was already underway, he also had Lagos's position stripped and had Zalia replaced him as the new Prime Minister instead, all the while staging his "murder" in order to keep his plan in motion. It took Urseus's 3 defeats (2 of which his failed to overcome Hiroto's debate skill during the in the Four Kingdom Summit, despite Abrahim betrayal against Eesh in the third and last scheme.) and his confusion about Hiroto's words made Lagos relevant again, & his plea to the Three-Vampires Alliances-specifically Disgurd, who was extremely furious to learn Luluk's beatdown by one gang of vengeful soldiers who still bitter about Magia Army's defeat by Curele-managed to save Urseus and Magia from the vampires' wrath.

Thanks for the info and I haven't read the novels since I cannot read japanese. I would like hiroto's friend to be more proactive in his actions. Grow as a character and accomplish more achievements. Maybe he would end up in a romantic relationship with Valkyria sister in the far away future but if he end up with a harem it would be better. Perhaps he would be more happy with a harem.

^You can save the thanks because of this series' translation is really scarce, so there's a limit I can actually provide through the raw editions I've read. Also, don't worry, Soichiro's development will coming very soon, if the plot permits it.

Anyway, with the series has gone this far, I think it's time to inform some load of stuff about this series according to my personal experience/perspective in reading all 15 LN series, it is more than Hiroto's quest of getting a harem: According to that experience, most antagonists in each book/arc at least had a "reason" to be jerkish towards Hiroto and Other Species, depending who you read, but regardless of these reasons, most of their plans are just one-track trick without a proper alternative and nobody even have a hindsight of darker scenarios in the future had their plan actually succeed; not helping matters are the fact that despite of the aftermath, some of them refuse to learn and willing to go depth in order to continue to smear Hiroto and others, only to suffer the consequences afterwards that usually don't end well. Instead of going kingdom and figures in the series, I will going to cover the what life in the continent has Hiroto changed the Isekai during his 5 year journey before he can return home and because the content will be extremely bulky to talk about, this topic will need to be talked about in separated post, if available. This will be a No-Hold-Barred version of it, so pay attention.

LIFE BEFORE HIROTO

• Originally, the series' theme is about the coexistence between Humans and the Other Species. As everyone have known about its origins from the manga series and some of the (now defunct) LN translations, it is established that Ibrid System-the one thing that keeping all 5 main races together (Humans, Vampires, Mummies, Elves and Skeletons) together-was introduced by the First unnamed Diferente after he saved Hybride from its worst crisis and brought peace back to the kingdom. Supposedly, the Ibrid-System was designed and used during the Emergency Era, as the Hybride people called it during one of Hybride's worst years, but his disappearance has caused the non-believers, especially the antagonistic humans, attempt to abolish the Ibrid System since they assume that Other Species are no longer "needed" since the Emergency Era has "gone", and then began developing cities without precautions about the Other Species's would-be attack should things gone awry, if the Gaiden stories of the series are to be believe. To make matters worse, another Diferente was summoned but unlike the first one, he was so inept that he fled away instead and for this reason , the Diferente's reputation was tainted so much that it lowered than the elves even the latter themselves weren't even better (more down below). Anyways, consequences of such are visible as only humans (noble classes especially) and elves enjoy the luxurious life while others (such as Vampires, Mummies, Skeleton and sometimes ordinary humans) continue to live a life & cycle of misery and hatred when humans blamed the Other Species for their suffering in spite of their (ironically) superstitions about Spiritual Lights and its curses-making the Other Species as scapegoats for the disaster and humans as the worst hypocrites. Things only deteriorating further when Hybride nobles and aristocrats-who are mostly humans and some times elves, with Excelis of Primaria or Universtel of Emperia as examples-did nothing to solve Hybride's growing woes but fixating on fulfilling their respective ambition in order to boost and/or expanding their influence across the region without considering their subjects's suffering: Gezerkia's rampage across Olsia in Vol.5 due to her long hatred for the humans, who were responsible for her family's starvation to death as the result of Olsia's land reclamation, was one of many notorious consequences of human negligence to Other Species. Not helping matters was that Emperia, being Hybride's capital city and the main administration center, was too incompetent to do anything about it because not only the ministers were at each other throats while consolidating power, with Sobrinus was the only sane minister of them all, Moldius the king himself wasn't exactly the most decisive man in making his own decision despite him willing to listen to his subjects' suggestions, some of which only made Hybride's situation worse. As the result, stories about humans' discrimination against Other Species are not uncommon & it will only get worsen until the you-know-who enter the world and fix things wrong Hybride. Speaking of the Other Species...
• As the consequences of the human's prejudice and discrimination against them, the Other Species chose to either distance themselves away from civilization and keep a low profile, or even outright revolt against the humans in order to get what they once belonged. Here are some of the examples,
  • The Vampires, depending which clan you're reading about, are the most misunderstood figures of the bunch where they were notoriously known for "murdering" people despite the truth speaks otherwise: All they ever did was just hunting wolves and they only attacks humans whenever their kind of allies were in danger. Not helping the situation was that this cycle of animosity between humans and vampires never seemly ends because while the humans are indeed responsible to their suffering, the vampires fared no better because by terrorizing villages and cities as their revenge for what the humans did to them they actually worsen the already . The consequences of that goes both ways: Either like aforementioned Gezerkia who took over cities and killed male humans as the result of the land reclamation that destroyed her home and blood-family, or some such as Disgurd exploiting the humans' fear in order to assert their dominance across the region while thinking so highly of themselves that they assumed that humans as puny powerless losers who can't even fly. Nonetheless, this cycle continues even after Hiroto came into the world and improve things...
  • The Mummies, due to their docile nature and innocence, were victims to humans' scorn everywhere they go because of their "ugliness" but what made this even more mortifying was because of these very traits, the human are taking advantages onto them as they pleased and yet they called them"hostile creatures" instead, with the bandits' raid onto Secondaria and Sorceire's kidnapping via mummy disguise in both LN and Manga, as well as Mimia's sworn sister who was raped by a nobleman but the Spiritual Light didn't dimmed for some reason are just one of many cruel examples.
  • Skeletons are by far the most minor of the four because while they are indeed shunned by humans due to their scary appearances, but at least some of them have job as low-level soldiers at best. Strangely enough, because the series didn't focused much on hem aside from Carabella and the couple who saved a dying, badly battered Luluk.
  • The only Other Species who didn't get too much discrimination were the elves due to their longevity and their higher positions second to the humans, but this doesn't mean they are saints: You see, most elves such as Alvy and others not bad guys due to their superstitions about the Spiritual Light curses but keep in mind that there are still some of them who are just as antagonizing as the humans. This is because some such as Universtel, Zalia, Cognidus and Dialogs still believes that the vampires are "menace" to everyone not because of the safety of the people, but because of the fear that the elven prestige and influence will be "tainted" by just having the vampires roaming across the region, without knowing that this also have negative impact to even their own kind let alone others. Not helping the situation is that because the elves abiding the rules so much, that they really even doing anything that could've prevent any tragedies happening to everyone...
• As the series goes even further, it reveals that other kingdoms that bordered Hybride weren't fared any better than Hybride itself. Aside from the complicated diplomacy between Hybride and others (such as its rivalry with Phyllis and Magia), they too have their domestic problems to deal with and they are equally bad, if not worse than Hybride: Phyllis had a North Phyllis Remnant rebellion going on as the latter attempted to revive the now defunct kingdom, Magia's nasty hostility against Other Species (especially the Vampires) while not believing in Spiritual Lights, and Vol.16's newly introduced Agnika & Gassel which bad blood were so bad that it required both Hybride and Phyllis to keep them under control. Even Regulus Republic, the only country that is ruled by the elves and Senate instead of Monarchy,were ironically prone to the same humans' mistakes because most of them such as Cognidus and Dialogs cared more about the elven prestige and influence across the region instead of genuinely ensuring the peace across the continent. Bottom line, every single kingdom are trying to surpass Hybride in anyway and considering the Diferentes before Hiroto and Soichiro never got too far from Hybride, it is safe to say that Hybride was the only kingdom who hold its regards about the Diferente while other kingdoms don't even notice that both Hiroto and Soichiro were outsiders from another world.

That being said, Hiroto's arrival and actions has changed the entire continent drastically despite him being a)a youngest outsider who b) befriending with the Other Species but more importantly, c) managed to accomplish so much gain both influences and allies in just short amount of time, more than even veteran ministers and aristocrats could've done for years. Yep, you read this correctly. due to his long list of accomplishment that brought, Hiroto himself became a living legend among all 6 kingdoms combined.

KINGDOMS' REACTION TOWARDS HIROTOMANIA

• As many should know by now, Hybride was Hiroto's starting point for his rising fame but despite this, as the series goes on, he was still underappreciated by some of Hybride affluent figures especially the aristocrats and noblemen who loathed him for his growing influence even though he has rescued Hybride for almost countless times. Most of them, if not all such as the likes Panopticus, Universtel and especially the Anti-Hiroto Faction are not a big fan of the Ibrid System and to see him rising to the ranks that is close to the Privy Council, the second highest rank behind only the king, almost made them puke so much that they willing to do anything to sneer the guy and ruin his reputation, even though doing so will ironically very likely going to ruin Hybride in anyway. If history and ending of each book imply almost everything, its the skeptics ends up eating the very trap they had for Hiroto, if the manga chapter about Hiroto vs. Torlan debate indicates anything bud unfortunately, folks such as Finnath refused to learn a thing. If Vol.16 introduction of yet another former Hybride minister by the name of Hydran, you got the idea that the skeptic's hostility against Hiroto is still there...
• Phyllis, being Hybride's rivaling neighboring kingdom, had a on/off feud with Hiroto due to the Phyllis Army's severe defeat by the Vampire-Salabria Alliance before Phyllis can even invade Salabria, of which was the beginning of Phyllis's hostility and grudge against Hiroto and the vampires. Due to this mindset, some people such as Abrahim wanting Hiroto dead as if that will surely going to reduce the vampires' prowess, only face repercussions of their wrath that keep haunting the kingdom even to this day; making things worse is that Phyllis was consumed by vengeance and hatred for Hybride so much that almost everything they did only making things worse for the kingdom, such as the Salabria Elves Messenger Massacre by the vengeful Babylos soldiers. The rivalry between Hybride and Phyllis only ends (temporarily) when Hiroto participated the negotiation between both kingdoms, with him representing the latter side, and giving one suggestion that actually ensuring the peace between both kingdoms-something not even veteran ministers could've thought about. This alone marked Hiroto's status as the youngest living legend to the entire continent, but keep in mind that there are more people such as Zieglete and Freyas are extremely discontent towards that peace and willing to find ways to sabotage them and almost come close to it if it wasn't for Hiroto's quick thinking and cunning. If Vol. 16's preview chapters implying anything especially Metis whose (alleged) retirement is a thing, this is NOT be the last of Phyllis just yet...
• Same goes for the now defunct North Phyllis. FYI, the entire thing began with Eesh won the civil war in Phyllis and unified the Northern part of Phyllis, forcing the last remnant of that former kingdom sought Hybride for shelter. However, these same remnants were also sparked the hostility between Hybride and Phyllis to begin with, mostly due to their obsession for retaking their former kingdom, starting by assassinating Eesh no less. However, Hiroto's actions actually stopping North Phyllis from endangering itself from annihilation but people such as Felkina and Joachim continue to fight to revive the dead kingdom only ends up chewing Phyllis's retaliation at them; further, Hiroto once warned the 2 in the following aftermath that future is still bleak for North Phyllis remnants even if they win against Phyllis Kingdom and retake their land due to the barren lands itself, of which will ironically repeating history where Phyllis annexing the newly kingdom again. That seemly putting North Phyllis's plans to sleep though it not eased Felkina's hatred for Hiroto until Magia came around and thinking a plan to destroy Hybride from within-an event that will developing her character entirely.
• Magia is the next on this list because its recent rivalry with Hybride only sparked (should I say, revived) after the Urseus's ascension as the king after the death of his father King Nasar, who himself has ironically halted the the war between 2 kingdoms 50 years ago, where Magia was on the losing side. As the matter of fact, the aforementioned Phyllis Army's defeat by the vampires has reignited Magia's hostility towards Hybride as Urseus viewed both Hiroto and the vampires are "threats" to his kingdom and willing to use any scheme in book-including some of Anti-Hiroto people-to ruin them. Even so, Magia suffered the same humilliation as Phyllis did when Magia Army still got wrecked by Curele and like Phyllis, Magia harbored grudge and animosity against Hiroto and the vampires over their defeat, with Urseus himself ironically had to ally himself with Disgurd while collaborating with his former mentors of Regulus and even Abrahim in staging the Four Kingdoms Summit in order to crush Hybride. The elephant in the room? Unlike Hiroto's relationship with the vampires, Urseus's "alliance" with Disgurd was not genuine as he remains vigilant to the Northern Vampires in spite of him compromised even his pride to her just to get her cooperation, and said cooperation itself made even Cognidus (Regulus) and Eesh (Phyllis) finding his "quest of peace" very suspicious; not helping the case was that Magia soldiers, like Babylos soldiers who killed one Salabria Elven Messenger, they blindly (and viciously) beating Luluk behind Urseus's knowledge because they assume that vampire was responsible to Magia Army's crushing defeat even though he wasn't even the same vampire who wiped out Magia Army in Vol. 13, and that in turn only made Disgurd even angrier because not even she going to hurt a kid, resulting her "defection" and help Gezerkia and Zeldis to attack Bahram as a message about messing with the vampires. It took Urseus's 3 defeats (2 of which are his schemes against Hiroto) and the Bahram's damage by made him realize that his ways were just plain wrong. What actually solidifying his changes was when he had a "pep talk" with Hiroto shortly after the 2nd Four Kingdom Summit. For now, after the 15th Volume Magia buries its hatchet with Hybride since but only future books will tell whether or not Magia will go down the same path as Phyllis has...
• For Regulus, despite of being the only country that is both populated with elves & ruled by the Senate (yes, really), even they are prone to discriminating against Hiroto and his allies. To give you a background, people such as Cognidus and Dialogs assumed that all vampires are hostile "menace" to the elven community's status and potentially tainting their influences across the continent. Heck, hearing Hiroto's friendship with the vampires alone already freaked Regulus so much to the point choosing Urseus (since he was Cognidus and Dialog's favorite student, apparently) and see him as the "messiah" of world peace even though his methods of achieve that were actually dubious. It is only until they met Hiroto and witnessing his debate during the Four Kingdom Summit. Folks need to know that the Four Kingdom Summit itself was meant to be Urseus's trap to Hybride so he can crush his western enemy kingdom alongside Phyllis (Abrahim) and Regulus (Cognidus and Dialogs), making this as the Kangaroo Court but unfortunately to even this Sinister-Alliance, Hiroto managed to toppled all of that and his amazing rebuttal and debate actually impressed Cognidus so much that he turned his support for the Diferente in the middle of the debate, especially when any scenario he could've think of actually favoring Hiroto instead of disadvantages because the Diferente's debate was all about caring everyone instead of the ambitions of the foolish king. Yes, really. Much like Magia, it seems Vol.15 had extinguished Regulus's against Hybride for a time being...
• The last and now least are Agnika and Gassel-the 2 new kingdom that made their debut at Vol.16. Now, I may not have the book yet but if its preview chapters imply something, it seems to me that these 2 new kingdoms might shared the same skeptical and hostile view towards Hiroto and the vampires as much as their eastern allies, mostly because to them the coexistence between Humans and Vampires are unheard of and they themselves feared the vampires but looking down at them even after hearing what had happened at Magia. Whatever Hiroto did during Vol.16, it seems he eventually pacifying 2 kingdoms despite Leonidas's interference and negligence to diplomacy between Hybride and allies. One will even wonder when Hiroto will go west to see a world beyond of Terminus River (I guess...)

Things would be a lot more interesting if this adapted into anime.

While Duke Hydran's reputation as the next king becoming popular, Moldius is falling sick and his next seizure will not only endangering his life but also speeding the election of the heirs for the throne, leaving Leonidas a severe disadvantage in spite of his snarky yet competent attributes, as well as the one who recommending Hiroto as his successor (not sure but its either that or him still being Moldius's heir apparent via Hiroto's recommendation).

With the stake of losing everything if he is defeated, Hiroto must confront Duke Hydran in a battle that will define anything .

Hybride is peril yet again because Moldius is sick the empty throne itself signifying the dispute between Hydran Faction and Leonidas Faction for the crown, and things will only getting worse for Hiroto and friends: Sobrinus's injury (how was that happened remains a mystery, unless I get the story that is ) enable one new elf character by the name of Shilfelis (correct me if I am wrong about it) who immediately blames Hiroto for Leonidas's mess from the last book, despite the very fact that he's also the one who quelled the Agnika-Gassel rivalry and keep both Hybride and Phyllis safe from their feud!
2. Speaking of rivalry, this means Hiroto is facing more of the Anti-Hiroto Faction but this time, its Hydran the Duke who display extreme disgust towards to Hiroto from the preview chapter and he got popular by his own peers, even though he almost putting Hybride in danger by recommending one of blood-thirsty general as the next heir for Hybride's crown!
3. Not helping matters is the fact that Moldius suddenly gets ill and his critical condition due to said illness only fueling the rivalry between Hydran and Leonidas, which also including Hiroto as well since he is one of very few people who befriended with the prince. Making situation worse is that not even Leonidas himself can avert his disadvantages because everyone knows only his infamy instead of something else.

Now how does this event itself reminiscing stories from Volume 4 and Volume 12?

OK, here's my third post here and really, this series need some good attention because, for real, this will going to challenge Hiroto big time: Hybride is split into multiple pieces despite Hiroto managed to quell the Agnika-Gassel rivalry and yet, as annoying as it is, Hybride people (especially noblemen and aristocrats) repay him by shunning him even more! Its bad enough that Sobrinus is going to be replaced by an elf whose name is Shifelis, now we still got Hydran-Moldius's cousin and Leonidas's uncle-to worry about because this new volume just reveals his ambition to be the next king after his dear cousin, and his antagonism against Hiroto most because he assume that . Gee, and y'all assume that Finnath and his fellow Anti-Hiroto Faction members are the worst among Hiroto's haters simply because they can't stand his ongrowing accomplishments, one after another.

1. It seems Soichiro and Curele are having fun while reading book back in Primaria . Unbeknownst to them, however, Emperia is changing and this is not looking good for Hiroto and others in spite of their contribution in saving Hybride yet again.
2. The second one featuring the duo of Valkyria and Excelis where the former is teasing the latter for her own relationship with Hiroto. With elf blushing as red as tomato, maybe it's time for her to actually have such relationship after Valkyria, Mimia and even Sorceire. Could this be going a bit...further?
3. The third featuring Hiroto is sitting with one person that is non other than Leonidas the Prince of Hybride. Yes, really. This is the same prince whom Hiroto befriended back in Volume 14 and here, he harbors his hatred for Hiroto so much that he wants to have our hero executed! All because of his increasing infamy despite him was the fault for ignoring the Agnika-Gassel rivalry in the first place. And you assume only Moldius making rash decisions back in Volume 7 where he almost got Hiroto assassinated by Phyllis simply because he heard the songs about him becoming a future king, of which, may I remind you, one of Phyllis's scheme to keep Hiroto isolated from Emperia before finishing him off!

Again, why does this story makes me reminiscing the combined events of Volume 4, Volume 7 and now Volume 12?

I know nothing about that show but if you talking about the haters, the book just show plenty of them. In fact, they loathe Hiroto so much that they willing use any methods, including underhanded ones, to ensure his downfall. Y'know, its really baffling to see Hybride's "gratitude" to Hiroto by shunning him even more in spite of the Diferente's countless rescue for god knows how long, all of this simply because they can't stand to see that "brat" (even though Goban's art style was evolving) accomplished so much in just short amount of time, more than even veteran officials in Hybride. This ain't the first nor the last time Hiroto's haters seeing their plot against Hiroto backfired to their faces when they witnessing how he manage to overturn his disadvantages, with his debate against Torlan from Manga Chapter 25-26 (one that is adapted from Light Novel Volume 3) as an example. Heck, even Moldius the king himself laments his court's ungratefulness to Hiroto even after 9 books (not counting Book 9 that chronicling Hiroto's life before entering Hybride) of him saving Hybride from the likes of Phyllis and Magia, considering him learning a lesson about Hiroto's importance to Hybride from Vol.5-7. Now, however, the king is falling ill due to his weaken heart (yes, really) and this gives Anti-Hiroto Faction had a chance to get rid of the Diferente once and for all, especially with Hydran himself is now a candidate for the vacant throne.

Anyhow, here is the main antagonists in Volume 17

Spoiler for Main Antagonists in Volume 17:

• The first one is the new elven archbishop by the name of Shifelis (シルフェリス) who replaces Sobrinus (for how long is unknown) and becoming the new member of Hybride's Privy Council. Sadly, she makes a terrible mistake by belittling Hiroto simply because he is gazing at her oppai and even call him "immoral", and then lecturing him about spiritual lights' curse as well as elven wrath for his "vices". Yeah, accusing the hero who has yet to be cursed but saving saving Hybride for countless times is really a good idea, lady. Remember that one post I made about how the elves are no saint despite their position? It seems Shifelis is this living example due to her blinded belief of morality instead of people's deed and merit, of which displaying her haughtiness and arrogance that are indifferent than that of pre-character developing Felkina and Freyas. Granted, the Spiritual Light shines even brighter with her presence but considering Vol.11 the light still shine even after one Mummy being raped by one aristocrat's son at Noblesia, this is where you realize that sometimes it cannot be trusted. Also, considering the list of Hiroto's female rivals who once belittled him only to eat the humble pie in the end, something tells me that Shifelis will be joining on that list too. Also, for all her talk about doing it for the "sake of Hybride people", it seems the vampires are not even one of them...
• Next is Hydran the Duke who holds a strong animosity against Hiroto over his success in stopping the Agnika-Gassel Conflict from the last book. This book reveals the Duke's ambition in becoming the king and his rivalry with Hiroto mostly due to his assumption that the Diferente will "ruin" the kingdom by having Valkyria as his queen that expanding the vampires' influences, indicating that he is also an opposition against the Ibrid System; additionally, his disdain for Hiroto and the vampires still unchanged even after Valkyria of all people rescued him during the Agnika-Gassel conflict, though she only did for Hiroto's sake. What's really up to eleven is Lyndrus's praise about Hiroto itself which made the Diferente as important as the Duke himself, something upset Hydran so much that he willing to use any tricks in hi sleeve to ensure Hiroto's downfall-starting by stopping him and Leonidas from becoming a full member of Privy Council, of which eventually fails. Still, with Moldius's illness becomes the plot point in this book (maybe not in the preview chapters, though some are hinted in the earlier chapters) as this favoring him during his succession dispute against Leonidas and possibly even Hiroto. It seems that only Hiroto can stop him now...
• Third and last one is Finnath the Finance Minister. Oh, Finnath, ever a "nice" guy whose scorn for Hiroto are yet to be ceased since Vol.7 (possibly as early as Vol.6), and he hadn't changed even a bit. From Book 7 to Book 12 and 13, he has been actively tried and failed to get rid of Hiroto while watching him rise higher for beyond greatness: In Book 7, he was one of many who chose Lujud of all people (a hedonistic official of Hagar who is seen gloating his blue-blooded instead of Hiroto as the Boarder Protector, without knowing that it was part of Phyllis's scheme to assassinate Hiroto. Then, in Vol. 12, he joined the aristocrats such as Belffergo and Ramsus to form the Anti-Hiroto Faction in order to humiliate Hiroto by staging a Kangaroo Court against him for the Noblesia incident back in Vol.11, only ended in failure when Hiroto manage overturn his disadvantages. Then in Book 13, he-alongside both Belffergo and Rasmus-agreed with Magia's plot in weakening Hiroto's position while limiting the vampires' influence, only to see the plan foiled when Magia Army was defeated. And finally, in Vol.14, he outright blamed Hiroto for the North-Vampires' attack onto Emperia and even mocked Valkyria for it, even though Disgurd's clan was not with either Zeldis nor Gezerkia despite the latter's bad blood with her Now, in this latest book, take up to the elven when he now joining Hydran and Shifelis in crushing Hiroto by all means necessary and no doubt in my mind that he could be one of Hydran's core supporter during the succession crisis...

As for Leonidas, well, this book tells us that Leonidas will going to be Hiroto's main ally and it seems it is going to change for the better. Moreover, in this very same book, Hybride Nobility reveals a tragic secret within a family and if Volume 14 display the strained relationship between him and his father (King Moldius), this Volume 17 further reveals the truth behind that dysfunctional relationship.

Spoiler for Leonidas and his troubled past:

It is revealed that once upon a time, Leonidas had an elder brother named Julinus (ユリアヌス)-King Moldius's eldest son and favorite. One day, the brothers played but their fun was ruined because of the broken pot. Moldius scolded young Leonidas for it despite the the prince himself tried to explain that it was Julinus broke the pot. Then suddenly, Julinus stepped up and protected Leonidas by telling the truth that he was the one who broke the pot, and for this reason, Leonidas was pardoned. Sadly, this happy ending didn't last long as some years later under unknown circumstances, Julinus was deceased and his death has not only soured the relationship between Moldius and Leonidas, but also served as a catalyst to Hybride's woes...

P.S.: Might be planning on reviewing Manga Chapter 34 (if there's a time) as well as the LN preview chapters later, as well as the Privy Council members too since Hiroto just joined into the group not too long ago.

Double posting again but this time, it is winners take all and stakes cannot be any higher especially when the throne itself is the book main theme and Hybride's very future is on a fragile balance, specifically for Hiroto himself because this could mean that he might be becoming a candidate for the throne! Yes, really. I sincerely wish others actually taking this series seriously.

Anyways, here are the new 3 colored (preview) illustrations for Volume 17 and ladies and gents, this is Shifelis the Elven Deputy Archbishop and she is Hiroto's 10th female rival for her antagonism against him throughout entire Book 17. Yes, really, Shifelis's misjudgment about Hiroto is due to a certain misunderstanding (check out the picture above) and unlike her fellow elf such as Excelis, said antagonism against Hiroto is rooted from her strong yet misguided principles about morality-something she takes it very seriously due to her position & belief; not helping matters is she heavily relying the "will" of the Spiritual Lights for her decision making-making her predecessor Sobrinus look sensible by comparison. I need to remind you that Sobrinus is the only minister in the Privy Council deems the Ibrid System as the only thing to keep Hybride stable, with Hiroto's connections with the vampires as a living proof. Come to think of it, Book 17's events might replicating the events of Book 4 (according to some sources), and if this is true then both Excelis and Shifelis are more or less similar with each other than their slight differences,

Spoiler for Difference between Excelis and Shifelis:

Both are busty elves who hold a higher position in their respective roles and Hiroto's rivals due to their belittlement against him (for the case of Excelis, formerly) while doing things for the "greater good" for the people of Hybride, even though said "greater good" comes from their own naivete through their narrow-minded view.

1. Excelis is a Castle Lord of Primaria at Hybride while Shifelis is the Deputy Archbishop whose origin remains unknown.
2. Excelis wishes to solve Salabria's overpopulation crisis but resorts to use Development Order in order to beat Feuillet, only to garner even her fellow elves' irk against her. Shifelis, on the other hand, want to do more for the people of Hybride (that's including elves and the mummies, but surprisingly not the vampires), but she support the wrong people (looking at Hydran & Finnath, for example) whose depravity is far worse than even Leonidas.
3. Excelis originally sought Hiroto for help to defeat Feuillet to the point resorted to seduce him (against her own will, of course). Shifelis, on the other hand, immediately shuns Hiroto over his accidental gaze at her bust which she finds immoral.
4. Excelis's rivalry with Hiroto was due to the latter's refusal to support the Development Order that could've "save" Salabria from the overpopulation crisis, despite her own plan of initialing her own Development Order looked indifferent than that of Feuillet. Shifelis, on the other hand, belittles Hiroto in each and every way because he view our hero as "lecherous" becomes Hiroto's rival due to her strict belief of morality, even though she herself siding with a wrong party as others (specifically the Anti-Hiroto Faction) are far more depraved that both Hiroto and Leonidas.
5. Excelis at least acknowledges the vampire's importance to Hybride due to the convenience of the Air Mail service. Shifelis, for all her claims about "caring" for the people of Hybride, doesn't seems to view the vampires as the part of the people she tries to help.

1. The first meeting between Hiroto and Shifelis is stiff because the moment they meet each other, the latter immediately shuns the former as an "immoral" fool just because the former accidentally gazed at her oppai. You read this correctly. This Hiroto-Shifelis rivalry is due to one misunderstanding and already she belittles the Diferente by "lecturing" him about the elven wrath and Spiritual Light's curse despite he himself never done anything that caused that- making her not too different than that of pre-character developing Felkina and Freyas, both of whom who once belittled Hiroto only to be chewed by the Diferente's words. Unfortunately for her, however, this could be one of her biggest blunder because she just not realizing who's the real villain here (looking at Hydran).
2. The second illustration displays the close relationship between Hiroto and Leonidas as they are now facing their bitter challenges: 3 antagonistic Privy Council members such as Shifelis, Hydran and especially Finnath have protested against Moldius's decision in inducting Hiroto as the new member of the Privy Council despite it was the king's wish in the first place (actually, this idea came from Book 13 as Moldius's own reward to Hiroto for saving Hybride from Magia invasion, though Finnath was against it at the time) . Fortunately for the duo, both of them do end up becoming the full members of the Privy Council members, with Leonidas becomes the Minister of Military while Hiroto become the Minister of National Affair. While this may sounds like some good news, with Valkyria congratulating Hiroto says something, the fact that the book's description about Moldius's illness that resulting Hydran's rise of power alone should tell you that Hiroto's struggle against his haters are just the beginning...
3. More moments of Excelis here where she is helping Hiroto during the bath. Speaking of her, she may be holding some, if not important element in the story.

This latest chapter doesn't goes too much detail but this is where Hiroto's real challenges begins. Can't you guess who is the one trying to sabotage his rise for greatness?

Spoiler for Manga Chapter 35:

1. A wheat merchant is travelling to Solum and it takes him 4 months to reach here, all the while watching people moving towards Solum. When the merchant does arrive at Solum, he almost collide with another cart and when his cart is about to fall along with his produce (wheat), he is surprised that a vampire helping him alongside with another citizen. Eventually, the merchant reaches to the bakery and while the owner thanking him for the supplies for the bread and she is about to pay him for the supplies, the merchant then (begrudgingly) tells her to raise the price more, leaving the bakery owner to suffer her dilemma about her own business...
2. Meanwhile, Soichiro is having his own bath and recalls how did he and Hiroto entered into the new world, all the while playing with Curele during the bath. Hiroto is also awaken from his slumber and then recalling his own experiences of forming Solum Alliance alongside other castle lords and he surely enjoys his morning with Mimia and Valkyria, with the latter suck his blood as his breakfast...
3. Moving on, Hiroto meets up with Sentelio but before the meeting can even begin, Carabella and his underling reports him some bad news: there is a heated argument between the bakery owner and the locals over how expensive the breads have becoming. Worst of all, the bakery owner argued that this will go on within' a month. Can't Hiroto & allies solve the problem?

Does hiroto ever get a break?

^Considering what Feuillet's scheme for Hiroto and also Excelis's skeptical view towards the youngster, he really has a hard time to take even a break, all because someone in Hybride refuses to recognize the Diferente while trying to stop his rise of fame his rise by all means necessary. This latest manga chapter is only the tip of the iceberg of what challenges Hiroto will face in the future....

Speaking of Hiroto's challenge, he has more rivals and enemies in the light novel series who loathes him even for the most pettiest reasons and some of them are willing to do anything to break or even outright killour hero by all means necessary. Here is a short summary of each book...

Spoiler for Chronicles of Hiroto's Challenge in Each Light Novels (with the exception of Book 9 because that book reveals Hiroto's origin prior to his arrival at the land of Hybride). :

1. Book 1 is where it all began where Hiroto and Soichiro were tasked by Ulkan (Former Castle Lord of Solum) to defeat a vampire named is Valkyria. While Hiroto and Soichiro freed Valkyria, seemly garnering Zeldis's trust while befriending Mimia along the way, they were imprisoned instead by Sentelio due to Ulkan's sudden death, of which only dimming the Spiritual Lights of Solum. Thankfully, under the advice of Hiroto, the light of Solum shine again and it garners the attention of Alvy who inviting Hiroto to Secondaria due to what him bringing Solum back to normal. This was the beginning of Hiroto's long adventure....
2. Next, Book 2 saw Hiroto's effort to improve Solum without allying himself with Secondaria, and Torlan-one of Secondaria's steward- to sabotage anything in order to stop Solum's rise, such as expelling Solum students from a local Cathedral. The sabotage only stooped when bandits (who disguised themselves as mummies) invaded Secondaria and hold everyone hostage including both Torlan and Hiroto. Fortunately, with the help of Valkyria and Curele as well as Curele, Hiroto not only managed to saved everyone from the bandits, he also helped Darmur to find and rescue Sorceire by giving her some coins that changed her back to normal and broke its breaking her curse. While Hiroto's deeds may garnered the respect from Darmur and other Castle Lords such as Est and Cecra, Torlan was the only feared our hero and his desperation would fueling the already heated rivalry between Hiroto and Secondaria...
3. Book 3 continued the Hiroto-Secondaria Feud where Torlan now targeting Darmur as well simply because the Neka Lord refused to participate the Secondaria Development Plan, of which was his gratitude to Hiroto for saving his daughter. As displayed in Manga Chapter 24-26, for this reason Torlan resorted to ban merchants from both Solum and Neka entering Secondaria when Hiroto called him out for it, a debate is ensued where the Steward tried and failed to humiliate Hiroto when the Diferente humbled him with"lectures" about the consequences of his play, and Torlan himself had to admit defeat when the Secondaria Elf Association demand him to revoke his order. Then, Feuillet joined in and schemed to yank Hiroto by forcing to him to choose either saving Natra or Sorceire, the latter of whom was kidnapped by another villains who also disguised themselves as Mummies. In a surprising move, Hiroto rescued both Natra and Sorceire from danger and his heroic moves gained Natra, Cerca, Est and now Neka as Solum's allies, and thus establishing the Solum Alliance. In spite of his failures, however, Feuillet remained unwavered as he has plans for Hiroto while ensuring himself that he will get the last laugh and win the upcoming election...
4. And here we are in Book 4, now being adapted into the manga series, chronicling Hiroto's fierce rivalry against both Feuillet and Excelis with the former is trying to ruin the Diferente with any scheme he could think of and stop him from becoming the Governor of Salabria. Excelis on the other hand wanted to help Salabria's citizen by curbing its overpopulation crisis, but her good intentions only made her unpopular when she decided to implementing her own Development Plan to combat Feuillet; not helping her case was that fellow elves (such as Secondaria Elf Association) wasn't the only one who were against her decision, even Baulois/Polowa (a retired official who was Salabria's former governor) criticized her for not her short-sighted view, meaning that neither Feuillet nor Excelis were deemed worthy to hold the Governor's position . This caused Hiroto to join the election as the third and last candidate and in spite of his early disadvantages, with the help from Rudin of Lusa, Hiroto managed to keep up with both Feuillet and Excelis with sufficient votes and during the debate, his outstanding and eloquent speech was so amazing that it caused Feuillet to panic as he ran out of ideas for his rebuttal against the young upstart. This led to Hiroto's major victory as he became the youngest Governor of Salabria, but his responsibilities was just the start of his amazing adventures...
5. Book 5 showcases Hiroto's rivalry against Gezerkia and her clan when the Red-Winged Vampires tried and failed to invade Salabria after their rampage at Orsia. Zeldis was originally invited by the vampires to battle against the humans but he turned them down because of his gratefulness for Hiroto. The vampires were the least of our worries, however, as the Ibrid System was challenged by some ministers in Emperia (the capital of Hybride) because of Gezerkia's ongoing rampage, particularly Panopticus the Prime Minister who planed to abolish the Ibrid System while clashing with Sobrinus the Archbishop who was, and still, the only minister viewed both Hiroto and the Ibrid System are the only thing to keep Hybride stable. Little did Emperia and others expected, however, was that Hiroto made a huge upset where he not only repelled Gezerkia and her vampires' invasion onto Salabria, he also negotiated with her and persuaded her not attacking Salabria, seemly garnering her trust just a little bit. This shocked the entire Hybride and made Hiroto as the hero as the result, though not everyone were willing accept him...
6. In Book 6, Hiroto was accused by Panopticus for the crime he never committed due to the latter's underling Infilia & Delegelis's report after meeting Salabria Southern castle lords and even some of Gezerkia's own men against Hiroto, of whom were already discontent towards Hiroto in spite of his rescue of Salabria from Gezerkia's invasion attempt not too long ago. As the result, Hiroto's position was stripped under Emperia's decree and he was supposedly replaced by an incompetent officer to rule Salabria. Unbeknownst to anyone, Phyllis, the southern kingdom that is neighboring with Hybride via Terminus river, seized the opportunity to demand Hybride to hand over the North Phyllis remnants to them because of the latter's assassination attempt onto King Eesh, the King of Phyllis. When Hybride refused because reasons, Phyllis schemed on having a pincer attack onto Hybride by manipulating Gezerkia's clan via killing one of her men and using her rampage to distract Emperia while launching an invasion attempt onto Salabria. The plan was almost working if not for Hiroto who managed to dissuade Gezerkia from killing innocent people and then persuaded her to help Salabria to repel defeat the invading Phyllis Army (the real perpetrator behind the murder of one of her underlings), with a promise of letting them to execute the murderer. Consequently, Phyllis Army suffered a huge lost when Curele decimated them without breaking a sweat and Hiroto was hailed as Hybride's hero for preventing a foreign invasion. However, this also made Hiroto an enemy to Phyllis and people such as Abrahim were more than willing to do anything to get rid of him, thus began Hiroto's complicated affairs with Phyllis...
7. Book 7 is considered as Hiroto's darkest day: In order to assassinate Hiroto, Phyllis tried to keep him isolated from Emperia by framing him as a "traitor". How? Well, Abrahim noted that some aristocrats and ministers still loathed Hiroto despite his contribution in preventing Phyllis's invasion onto the kingdom, so he plan to fan the flames by sending spies to sing "praises" about him as the "future King of Hybride", then had him assassinated without Emperia even notice what's going on. Courtesy to Moldius and other Emperia ministers' (with the exception of Sobrinus and even Panopticus) obliviousness and toxic jealousy for Hiroto's ongoing success, the scheme almost worked when Emperia blindly fell into Phyllis's trap and Hiroto himself was framed as a "traitor" to the kingdom, leading o his house arrest. At one point, Hiroto was so depressed that he began to even doubt his capabilities even when his peers tried to cheer him up. The silver lining about this was that Phyllis's scheme also drew the attention of Raquel, the fallen princess of her former kingdom North Phyllis who visited Salabria and met Hiroto in person and learned his real personality that contradicted the rumors she heard from Emperia (Actually, she was also skeptical about Hiroto and Salabria and her only reason of visiting Salabria was because of his success in defeating Phyllis. Twice. On one occasion, she even felt disgusted to hear Hiroto's relationship with the vampires.). In fact, Raquel's presence alone foiled Phyllis's assassination attempt onto Hiroto when Phyllis invaders (one who disguised themselves as one of Hybride knights and they were ordered to kill Hiroto under Abrahim's schemes) were distracted by her and tried to kill her too, which ultimately failed due to the vampire interference and worst of all, they were all slaughtered for their harm onto Hiroto (actually, he apparent "death" was part of his plan to fool the invaders). Not only this caused Phyllis to suffer yet another defeat, it also caused King Moldius to feel remorse for his action and promoting Hiroto as the Margrave of Hybride, one of the highest position in Emperia. Still, it didn't mean Phyllis gives up its rivalry against Hybride so easily and not all ministers/aristocrats in Emperia were willing to accept Hiroto and his new position....
   P.S.: What Phyllis didn't know was that its own scheme for Hiroto has foreshadowed his critical role for Book 17's story. We're talk about that latter...
8. Book 8 continues Hiroto's feud with Phyllis where King Eesh had to dispatch one of his top general Metis to investigate Salabria in order to find ways to attack Hybride again. Instead, Hiroto managed to befriend with her and it was his integrity that garnered the general's trust when he brought back the fallen 50 Phyllis Knights-the same knight who were trying to assassinate him-to Phyllis. However, the conflict between Hybride and Phyllis took to the worst when one of Babylos guards killed an elven representative who hailed from Secondaria and it angered Hybride so much that Universtel, the Elder of the Emperia Elf Association Branch, demanded sanction against Phyllis. It seems the only way to stop the Hybride-Phyllis Feud was the negotiation between both faction where Abrahim got the upper hand against both Univestel and Panopticus as he reminded the ministers that Phyllis refused to compromise anything to Hybride while demanding Hybride to fulfill one of Phyllis's most ludicrous demand. It was this moment Hiroto eventually spoke out against Abrahim as he explained that the feud between Hybride and Phyllis was meaningless since neither of their option bring benefit to both kingdoms and it will bring suffering to the people of both kingdoms. This impressed both factions (especially the Phyllis Faction who was so impressed by Hiroto's debate skills that they actually praising Hybride for having such caliber.) so much that they have to set a truce between both Hybride and Phyllis, all for the peace between both kingdoms. Sounds like a good deal right? Well, there was one faction within Hybride was against the peace treaty between Hybride and Phyllis... Oh, and BTW, Gezerkia is attacking Olsia against due to the castle lord want to resume the Developing Plan, only to be stopped by Hiroto later on.
9. Book 10 almost concludes Hiroto's affair with Phyllis if not for Felkina the Duchess and Joachim the Former Prince who attempted to revive the fallen North Phyllis by warring with Phyllis. The duo, especially the Duchess who belittled and loathed Hiroto due to his "peon" status, refused to heed the advice of both Hiroto and even Raquel as they willing to do anything to revive the fallen kingdom no matter the consequences. Even with the war between North Phyllis Remnants and Phyllis Army was short-lived, with the former was losing and the war only ended with the vampires' intervention, neither of them want to give in the fight but Hiroto gave them an earful of criticism by claiming that all even if the duo do manage to revive the kingdom, their reign would be a short-lived one because the aftermath of the war would make the land more unbearable, and that alone will cause civil unrest and repeating history of it being annexed by Phyllis again-something neither Felkina nor Joachim even considered before wagging war against Phyllis. It took an intervention from Raquelherself that the duo finally gave up their pipe dream and it through the pleas from both Hiroto and Raquel, Metis pardoned both Felkina and Joachim. Now, Felkina and Joachim were initially still felt bitter about their failure but things changed for the better after Hiroto brought Joachim to a riverbanks of his former homeland. The aftermath resulted both Felkina and Joachim now realized Hiroto's true character in spite both being separated for a year, though the Duchess still blamed Hiroto for North Phyllis's failure to revive itself.
10. Book 11 entering the new journey where Hiroto had to deal with the Mummy Rape Case situated at Noblesia, one of many Hybride's provinces. The problem? Hiroto had to deal with a stubborn noblemen named Bourgault, who willing to do anything to protect his son Pollard despite the spoiled son rapped a mummy who happened to be Mimia's sister. While butting heads with Bourgault, Hiroto and his allies not only managed to trap Pollard and had him arrested on sight, he also forced Bourgault to accept his son crimes and had him paid nearly half of his family treasury as compensation for his insult onto both him and friends. While Hiroto's action in Noblesia may made him a hero among the Mummies while decreasing the discrimination against Other Species, other people such as the aristocrats in Emperia just hate his guts to the point willing to ruin him by all means necessary. Also, there was a person in Phyllis named Zieglete the Archbishop who was strongly against the peace between Hybride and Phyllis, only to see his plan failed when Metis and Excelis were working together to stop his plan from fruition, but this didn't mean that Zieglete willing to give up as he was responsible to Freyas's own war against Hybride in Book 14. More on that later....
11. In Book 12, Hiroto's enemies isn't just limited to Bourgault, here' comes Anti-Hiroto Faction (Belffergo, Ramsus, Finnath and Lemaire ) who trying to ruin Hiroto by setting a "trial" and trying to indicting him for his involvement in Noblesia, though in reality it was a kangaroo court where the conspirators had the advantages to humiliate Hiroto publicly: Starting by manipulating Moldius's favorite concubine Orfina into their sinister plan. When Hiroto managed to survive his trial and escaped the Anti-Hiroto Faction's trap, Bourgault decided to kill Hiroto by himself by having his knight to sneak towards the house where Hiroto and Mimia slept and burned down that very house, almost assassinating him. Too bad for Bourgault, Hiroto narrowly survived the fire and worst yet, he has garnered the wrath from Zeldis and his clan as they want the aristocrat to be executed for his assassination attempt onto Hiroto. The aftermath of that forever changing Hybride as the whole as , though it didn't stop the Anti-Hiroto Faction's heated rivalry against Hiroto as Rasmus viewed him s a tough rival to beat. Speaking of tough rival....
12. Book 13 began the Hiroto-Magia Feud where Urseus, the new king of Magia of the east, attempted to destroy Hybride via collaborating with those (especially the Anti-Hiroto Faction) who despised Hiroto and the vampires in order to stop him from interfering his plan. Unfortunately for king, however, his sinister scheme was foiled by Hiroto through the help of Felkina as well as Gezerkia & Zeldis, but the worst of was his mighty army was crushed by Curele . Fun trivia, Felkina was originally still loathed Hiroto for ruining her plans to revive North Phyllis and her only reasons of helping Hiroto now was not only she learned Urseus's true colors, she, unlike other those who loathed Hiroto, realized that Hybride will be doomed without the vampires protecting the kingdom. The irony here is that of all of Magia Army's "research" of the vampire weakness, it suffered the same fate as Phyllis Army as Curele easily annihilated it without breaking a sweat, making this as Magia's first and worst defeat in the kingdom history. Furthermore, this also solidified Hiroto as the hero of Hybride once again and King Moldius was so grateful to Hiroto's heroic deeds that he prompted to induct him as a member of the prestigious Privy Council of Hybride- something Finnath strongly protested against with. This also played a prominent foreshadowing for Book 17 where Hiroto does eventually become the member of the Privy Council, specifically the Ministry of National Affairs. More on that soon. Still, Urseus was far from throwing the towel yet...
13. The feud continues in Book 14 where not only Urseus ironically enlisted some "help" from a vampire named Disgurd, who happens to be Gezerkia's longtime bitter rival, he also allied himself with Regulus-especially his former mentors Cognidus and Dialogs for teir skeptism against the vampires-and Phyllis (more specifically, Abrahim who want to revive Phyllis's prestige) in his attempt to crush Hybride during the Four Kingdoms Summit. This plans backfired spectacularly because Hiroto manage to outperform almost everyone during the meeting, effectively ruining his plans yet again. In fact, Hiroto's amazing debate skills was so amazing that it garnered respect from Cognidus and even Disgurd , with the latter was envy for Gezerkia and Zeldis for having an amazing talent while the former recognized the Diferente's hindsight in things that not even Urseus can think of. However, Urseus wasn't he only only one wanting to crush Hiroto...
14. Book 15 may eventually ended Hiroto's rivalry with Magia once and for all (all it took was the Vampire Alliance Army's attack onto Bahram-among them were Disgurd and her clan who had enough of Magia's nonsense after they heard Magia soldiers almost beating a vampire kid to death), but it also introduced Freyas the Crown Princess of Phyllis who was on her quest to revive her kingdom's former glory, and not even King Eesh and Metis can stop her due to her caliber and charisma. For this reason, Freyas put Hybride into chaos mode when she denied Moldius's plea while forcing Hybride to fulfill even her most ridiculous request. Hiroto is the only hope in stopping Freyas's rampage by having a negotiation with her alongside Raquel, without any strategy. Fortunately, with his wits and smarts, Hiroto managed to outsmart and outwit Freyas where his performance putting the princess under an amount of pressure because she cannot even even reading his mind and make a move. Funny enough, Hiroto ironically using Freyas's own tactic against her and kept using mind games to troll her, meaning that the haughty princess had to eat the humble pie for the first time. Freyas's failure caused Zieglete to assassinate Hiroto as his final resort, only to stumbled onto Curele but rather than leaving her alone like any sane people, he made a bad move by ordered his men to attack Curele. Needless to say, that plan backfired as Curele was immune to the attack and killed Zieglete his assassins instead, and this only endangering the peace between Hybride and Phyllis...
15. Book 16 enters a new chapter where both Agnika & Gassel were at each other throats over the harbor incident and they needed both Hybride and Phyllis respectively for help. Hiroto got involved into this mess and the only solution he had for the 2 western kingdoms was implementing sanctions against both kingdoms for their quarrels at Salabria harbor. Of course, both kingdoms whined and mocked Hiroto for it but Agnika crossed the line as one merchant shamelessly insulting Valkyrie and her vampires of all things, of which only angered Hiroto as he not only forced Agnika pay the fine 4 times than the original while prohibiting it from entering Salabria for 9 months (3 times the original 3 months), he even outright declared that nobody from Agnika will set foot onto Salabria's soil ever again, even when he personally lift the sanctions. Not helping the situation was that Leonidas made his return to Hybride due to boredom and while his return wasn't received nicely by even Hiroto's allies such as [V]Panopticus[/B], Univestel and even Felkina and Raquel, he made a worst decision of ignoring the Agnika-Gassel Feud that is happening on the west. Not sure how the stories goes from here afterwards but according to Book 17's preview chapters, there are some hints what really went on,
    • In spite of Hiroto's sanctions, neither Agnika nor Gassel wanted to get along and the truth about the harbor attacks came out: It revealed that Gassel's nobility wanted Agnika's raw materials but they didn't have enough silver to pay for for the said materials, so they charged Agnika the harbor tax for their business. Fed up by the rise of the tax, Agnika merchant and people retaliated and killed some of Gassel men at its own harbor.
    • Needless to say, Metisled the Gassel Army to invade that harbor because of this and she had a one-on-one duel against one Agnika noble by the name Lyndrus, of which she won. Ergo, Lyndrus was taken hostage and the harbor was taken over by Gassel. For whatever the reason, Hydran the Duke who happens to be Moldius's cousin and also Leonidas's uncle, got himself involved in the mess too, presumably due to Hiroto's sanctions against both Agnika and Gassel. Luckily for Agnika, Hiroto managed to save the day by having the vampires to save Lyndrus, Hydran and others and dissuaded Metis from attacking even further. Could this lead to Metis's retirement? How was Ismir acted to this?
    • Well, Hiroto was having a conflict with Leonidas who protested against helping Agnika due to his own antagonistic view towards Agnika, calling it as a "parasite" for keep on depending Hybride for help. As for the vampires, as much as Valkyria was still bitter about Agnika and couldn't care less about its own woes, she ended up helping out anyway but she did it for Hiroto only.
    • It seemed that the only way to truly pacify the Agnika-Gassel Conflict was to have a summit at Regulus and the summit involved Agnika, Gassel and possibly Hybride and Phyllis. Whatever happened over there, Hiroto's performance managed to impress everyone (may included the leaders of both Agnika and Gassel respectively) and it seemed both Agnika& Gassel were willing to bury the hatchet and started the truce. The That was the good news. The bad news however was that Metis had to personally retire from her position and King Moldius himself was suffering the heart attack during the said meeting and according to Salabria's best doctor, the king didn't have long days to live....
16. In the end, Hiroto's critical role in ending Agnika-Gassel feud garnered Lyndrus's respect so much that he recognized the Diferente as one of Hybride's most important champion. Of all people, however, only Hydranwas displeased to hear Hiroto's growing glory name because he has his own ambition in becoming king after Moldius. In whatever lengths will that Duke will do in order to achieve that dream?
17. And now, here we are in Book 17 (Light Novel edition), one that will make Hiroto's challenge even more dangerous: Even when both Agnika and Gassel finally making a truce (presumably this also resulting Metis's own "retirement"), Hybride confront another crisis and this is the big one: King Moldius is falling sick, meaning his throne is empty until someone is eligible is chosen to become the new king. Due to his infamous involvement during the events of Book 16,Leonidas's reputation is tarnished even further and he needs Hiroto's help in order to gain any momentum or seek retribution. Things is, though, even Hiroto himself have to face his 3 major adversaries and each one of them really loathe him regardless the reasons: Hydran the Duke loathed him because he viewed the Diferente will "doom" Hybride despite him garnering the respect from even the Count from Agnika, then comes Shifelis the female elven archbishop (Sobrinus's apparent successor) who keeps berating Hiroto to no end simply because she views him as an "immoral" person despite she herself isn't exactly a saint, and lastly Finnath who willingly to support both Hydran and Shifelis due to his own displeasure against Hiroto since Book 6/7. Fortunately for both Hiroto and Leonidas, in spite of the protest from the antagonists trio, the two eventually become the members of the Privy Council of Hybride, with the former handling National Affairs while the latter handling Military Affairs. Still, the trio's attempt to smear & slander both Hiroto and Leonidas doesn't end here as the only way to choose the real heir is through an election and a debate, of which Hydran has an advantages as he claimed himself as the "best" candidate than Urseus for the crown, even though it turns out that the Duke is fare more cunning and sinister than many of Hiroto's rival (especially Feuillet) and he is willing to do anything to ruin Hiroto, regardless of his scheme so he can sit on that vacant crown. Can Hiroto able to overcome the odds and achieve glory yet again?

And that's that for the Hiroto's challenge during his life in LN stories, one will wonder what story if he makes it to Volume 18...

Double post again for the actual translation of the manga's Chapter 35. Man, if this keeps up, the manga series might probably ends with Hiroto achieve something (See LN Volume 4 of LN if you know what I mean) before we can even explore deeper about Hybride, other kingdoms and the Other Species. I mean, from my personal perspective, the manga series chronicling Hiroto's journey within the Salabria Saga while the Light Novel series is still ongoing with Volume 16-17 with our hero now facing a bigger challenge that almost put him onto his knees.

Regardless, this manga chapter itself marks the begging of Hiroto's feud with Feuillet and Excelis (yes, really. Unless you haven't paid attention to Chapter 34) for the Corectio Election and it will play a crucial part for Hiroto's career in the series. Again, take a guess who was the one sabotaging the wheat price...

Anyhow, here's some a bit correction according to the translation itself, so take a bit a salt if you reading this...

Spoiler for Manga Chapter 35:

1. A wheat merchant is travelling to Solum via the road between Cerca and Solum. According to him, the last time he visited Solum was 4 months ago (no, not taking four months to reach there. Sorry...), and seeing more people migrating to Solum prompts him to wonder how much the town has changed since it became the capital city to Salabria's North. Anyways, he arrives a small router where his squabble with one local almost causing his carriage to fall but to his surprise, a vampire by the name Deserg (yes, this is its name, so stick with it) and his fellow citizen (a human, no less) helped him to hold on the produce (wheat). The Merchant's culture shock continues when he meet up a bakery owner who tells him that citizens her offered vampires some blood for their services but when the owner is about to pay for the supplies, he then (begrudgingly) tells him to double the price of wheat, leaving the bakery owner to suffer her dilemma and worries that his business will be shut down ...
2. Meanwhile, Soichiro is having his own bath while wondering what have changed at the real world. According to him, by the time both he and Hiroto entered the new world via an ancient map, around 3 months to be precise, he thinks that his classmates would've be in second year by now and while he doesn't want to leave yet (dunno why considering he's the one who want to go home badly), he want to write a diary once he do come back. Oh, here's a bonus, Soichiro is actually envy for Hiroto for having his harem (just Mimia and Valkyria for now and from LN onwards, his harem is growing) and he aims to have his own harem too before going home. What do we get in the end? Curele during the bath. Come to think of it though, when he mentions about former classmates, do nobody even find their disappearance slightly suspicious? Not even their former classmate Ruki Akemiya?
3. Speaking of Hiroto, he is awaken from his slumber and then recalling his own experiences of forming Solum Alliance alongside other castle lords and he surely enjoys his morning with Mimia and Valkyria, with the latter suck his blood as his breakfast. Fun aside, Hiroto meets up with Sentelio but before the meeting can even begin, Carabella and his underling reports to him some bad news: Housewives are rioting outside the bakery & had an argument with the owner over the breads that are now becoming expensive. Worst of all, the bakery owner argued that this will go on within' a month. Can't Hiroto & allies solve the problem?

Oh, and to those who dunno who is Ruki Akemiya, maybe this picture will give you some ideas. She is technically Hiroto's first female rival and friend before the likes of Excelis, Gezerkia, Felkina, Metis, Nestoria, Zalia, Disgurd, Freyas and Shifelis.

Triple Post today because the manga chapter is out (in raw) and yes, this chapter marks the beginning of Hiroto's rivalry against both Feuillet and Excelis for the upcoming election. Unlike Feuillet, Excelis's intentions is actually good but sadly naive when even a retiring official find her proposal not that different than Feuillet's, despite her genuinely want to help the people of Salabria. Light Novel's Vol.5 may explores a bigger problem about Hybride's vampire problem...

Come to think of it, why do I have a feeling that the events of Vol.17 replicates the story of both Manga Chapters 33-36 and Light Novel's Vol.4? Yeah, I'm getting ahead of myself here...

Anyway, here's a cover 36th chapter for the manga, featuring Excelis the Lord of Primaria herself.

Spoiler for Manga Chapter 36:

1. The manga beings with Excelis meeting Baulois and request his endorsement for her in the upcoming election while proposing her Development Proposal. Her reason behind of her Development Plan? Salabria suffers an overpopulation crisis and she needs to curb it with that project of hers while competing with Feuillet since they both are the only valid candidates for the upcoming election. The irony of this, however, it her development plan isn't different than Feuillet because this isexactly what made the vampires' attack human in the first place, though she doesn't look like she had a choice since she want to beat Feuillet in the election but not trusting Hiroto either. To her confusion, however, Baulois disapproves the idea as he not only informs her about the vampires' superstitions about their home, he also advises her to visit Solum to see the truth herself by saying that her staying in Primaria ins't a solution, further steepen Excelis's dilemma.
2. Speaking of Solum, the argument between bakery owner and housewives are getting intense when the latter rioting over bread's price despite the former claims that he had no choice. Fortunately, Hiroto comes here to pacify the situation by having some talks with them. After the talk, while still investigating about wheat prices situation, Hiroto lend some money to bakery owner while having the housewives to help out. Sorceire also helping out by having Neka to fund Solum for a year alongside with Alvy and Valkyria. Keep in mind that this solution is only temporary because Hiroto worries that Secondaria may going to demand Solum Alliance to increase prices in a couple of months after, and they still don't know why Secondaria have a nerve to sabotage the wheat price just for Solum and its allying cities....
3. Alvy then suggest Hiroto to take this issue to Primaria and Hiroto and co. will going to take a trip to Secondaria for answers. Here's a catch, though, as Alvy explains that even the elves are limited in what they do because negotiating with outside state is not their forte. When Hiroto begins to suspects what Feuillet's plot for him, considering Cecra merchant's deal with Kazm of Secondaria, Soichiro immediately deduces it as Feuillet's handiwork and even wants the Elven Associate to investigate him, only to be disappointed by Alvy's reply that not even they can do something so nonchalant. Even more complicated is the election is coming soon...in 4 days (something Alvy deemed way too early). Not that Hiroto want to vote for Feuillet in any way, considering his plot in ruining his rise a few chapters ago, he still need to figure out why would he do such a thing to Solum. And this marks the beginning of Hiroto's rivalry with Feuillet and Excelis...

And to those who are wondering about Baulois, he is a retiring governor of Salabria and one of few reasonable officials who doesn't prejudice and discrimination against Other Species, specifically the vampires. To give you some story,

Spoiler for Baulois's Story:

50 years ago, Baulois was a boy when Hybride suffered its bad times that is now known as the "Emergency Era" due to famine and civil discord. While living through the harsh time, he also witnessed the First Diferente's rescue of Hybride when he stabilized the kingdom by establishing the Ibrid System where humans and Other Species coexisted together. How Hybride became the mess as it is now? As time passing by, Baulois also witnessed that humans' attitude towards the Ibrid System has changed when their population outnumbers of that of Other Species and cities needed to be expanded in order to curb this overpopulation. Needless to say, Baulois provided other castle lords (such as Feuillet and others) some freedom to do whatever they wish to their respective towns in Salabria in order to curb the aforementioned population crisis, though it incidentally strained the relationship between Other Species and humans as greedy castle lord begun to developing the cities disregarding their damage to Other Species's both habitats and livelihood, forcing the latter to either move elsewhere or cope this new "change". Southern Salabria cities got the most developed towns than their Northern counterpart due to castle lords' development plan, but also sees the vampires outbreak due to their lost of habitat and food supplies-something Baulois forever regretted for this decision...

Also, speaking of whom, Excelis isn't the only elven antagonists in the in the series who are Hiroto's rivals only to be humbled by his credibility. Now, I don't have any pictures about them accurately (especially Cognadus part) but this is all I have about them, in case anyone asks who's who.


UNIVESTEL-Emperia Minister and Privy Council Member

Spoiler for Univestel's Story & Relationship with Hiroto:

1. The head of the Emperia Branch of the Elven Association and also one of the member of Privy Council of Hybride. Unlike Salabria Elves, Univestel was extremely skeptical about Hiroto due to his allegiance with the vampires-of whom he suspected as Hybride's "center threat" and needed to be eradicated in the name of the kingdom's "prestige". In his case, Univestel hold high regards of his kind as he views the elven prestige is the only thing keeping Hybride together and
2. In Vol.6, Vol.7 and Vol.8, Universtel is one of many ministers in Emperia who loathe Hiroto and the vampires due to his worry that their rise to power may proves "dangerous" to Hybride, specifically the elven prestige and fame in the kingdom. However, it is due to some circumstances that makes Hiroto even more vital to Hybride's survival and he and others minister leave no choice but to depend on the Diferente .
   • Vol.6 having him siding with Panopticus in stripping Hiroto's position as a Governor of Salabria because, apparently, Panopticus's underlings have found some "evidence" against Hiroto via their conversation with both unsatisfied castle lords of Salabria and some of Gezerkia's own men. It took Phyllis's invasion attempt onto Salabria forced Emperia to restore Hiroto's former position when he allied with vampires to save Salabria from Phyllis...
   • In Vol.7 shows that despite Hiroto contributions, many of Hybride ministers and aristocrats (such as Lujud the Governor of Hagar and Zoppo of Glinka who harbored toxic jealousy for Hiroto's growing popularity)-particularly Emperia-still doubted the Diferente as they assume that his rise of power will allow him to "overthrow" Moldius for the crown. Universtel is one of these skeptical fiend who easily bought Phyllis's lies about Hiroto's "treachery" against Hybride when Phyllis spies infiltrated into Emperia and sung a song about "log live King Hiroto" or something. No thanks to that deadly misunderstanding due to Emperia's folly, King Moldius made a terrible decision of choosing Lujud instead of Hiroto as Hybride's boarder protector-a decision that almost got Hiroto (and Raquel who visited Salabria in order to see Hiroto herself and learned his true personality) killed when Phyllis knights infiltrated into Dominus Castle courtesy to to Lujud's and Zoppo's greed for Phyllis' women and money. Fortunately, Hiroto survived his assassination but despite this aftermath, Univestel insisted that Hiroto shouldn't be rewarded only to be called out by Sobrinus the Archbishop for his terrible judgement of character while refused to acknowledge Hiroto, rendering him speechless.
   • In Vol.8, Universtel remained vocal against Hiroto's rise to power even after the aforementioned incident. While his view towards Hiroto and vampires as a threat remained unchanged, Babylos made a fatal mistake by killing one of Hybride's elves which only escalating the rivalry between Hybride & Phyllis. To solve the problem, Univestel to seek Hiroto for help but he demanded Hiroto to follow his direction instead of listening to the Diferente's advice. You see, since Phyllis also have its own elves, Univestel tend to have contact his fellow elves by the name Luttius so he can have Phyllis cornered by threaten the Phyllis elven exodus if Phyllis don't comply to Hybride's demand. To Universtel's miscalculation, however, Abrahim-the Primer Minister of Phyllis at the time-cared less about it and even pressured Hybride to sign a deal that favored Phyllis. It was only Hiroto's debate against Phyllis changed Universtel's perspective as the former thought Option C in the table that saved both Hybride and Phyllis from their own doom. Not that he want to admit it but it still doesn't change the fact that he was impressed by Hiroto's foresight...
3. Universtel's views towards Hiroto improved when the latter involved in Noblesia and solved the Mummy Rape case and it is this moment this elder became one of Hiroto's recurring allies in the future story...

ZALIA -Magia's Elven Prime Minister

Spoiler for Zalia's Story & Relationship with Hiroto:

1. The elf who resides at Magia and also Urseus's loyal subject. When Urseus became king, she replaced Lagos (Urseus's father's longtime retainer who went exiled for his opposition against Urseus's war with Hybride, albeit fake murder by the new king.) and joined his scheme to destroy Hybride from within-starting with her role in forcing King Moldius and others to sign a "peace treaty" between both kingdoms (in Magia's terms, may I add) while keeping Hiroto out from Emperia and ordered Magia Army to invade Lusina. The plan backfired when not only Hiroto sent Soichiro and Gezerkia instead to stop the "peace treaty", he also rushed to Lusina with the vampires and defeated the invading Magia Army via Curele's power, courtesy to Felkina's cooperation. Zalia was so livid to hear such defeat that she hold a grudge against Hiroto and her surprising meeting with the Diferente itself only
2. Magia's disastrous defeat at Lusina only fueled Urseus' determination to defeat Hybride, however, but he ironically allied himself with Disgurd & her clan to intimidate Hybride and planed to crush it at the upcoming Four Kingdoms Summit with his mentors (Cognidus and Dialogs of Regulus as well as Abrahim), though he had to kowtow to her in order to gain her cooperation. Not that Zalia approved her king to compromise his dignity in order to get Disgurd at his side, but she went along with it as long this will crush Hybride.
3. And during the Four Kingdom Summit, Zalia accompanied Urseus as his prime minister and things supposedly went well for Magia until Hiroto changed the tide with his amazing debate skills. During the summit, Zalia accused Hiroto over the vampires' "terror"only Babylos only to be berated by Zeldis for Magia's hypocrisy for letting Disgurd and her vampires to intimidate Emperia, much to the silence o both Zalia and Disgurd's silence. In any case, Hiroto's credibility managed to turn the tide when he warned everyone that this peace treaty will only caused Hybride to seek violent retribution against both Magia and Regulus for their unjust and the prove of him visiting Leonidas the Prince of Hybride alone forced nearly everyone (including Zalia) to reconsider, resulting Urseus's second defeat (first during the debate)....
4. The aftermath may didn't shaken Zalia's confidence that her king will win in the next debate, but not even his deadly alliance with Abrahim-who then betrayed King Eesh in the middle of the 2nd Summit-enable the king to surpass Hiroto when the latter's rebuttal rebuttal still managed to overcome the odd. Not helping matters was that even Disgurd had her doubts about her own human ally, which ultimately led to her betrayal against Magia as soon as Magia soldiers did the unthinkable that garnered her wrath. The king's 3rd defeats (2 were from the Summit) only fuel Magia's hostility (including Zalia) against Hiroto to the point tempted to assassinate him as a last resort. Coincidentally, they stumbled across Hiroto who then had a private talk with Zalia along with this one question: "What made Magia as Magia?" This conversation confused Zalia so much that she assumed that was Hiroto's trickery and warned her king not fall into that trap only to be called out by Urseus who began to question his own goal after hearing Hiroto's words. The last thing we see Zalia is that she went to Aden and sought Lagos for advice and vacated her Prime Minister position...

COGNADUS AND DIALOGS -Senators of Regulus

Spoiler for Cognadus and Dialog's Story :

1. 2 former senator in Regulus who are also the teachers of both Urseus and Leonidas. Similar to Universtel, both Cognadus and Dialogs belittles the vampires as menace across the continent due to Phyllis's bad experience with the vampires. Not helping matters is they both once favored Magia over Hybride because out of the 2 students, Urseus was the brightness of the due to this his desire to "bring peace & stability" to the continent while Leonidas cared more about wooing women instead of studying. More worryingly, they even endorsed Urseus even when the king launching an invasion onto Hybride, of which failed miserably....
2. Magia's failed invasion shocked both Cognadus and Dialog so much that they viewed the vampires have become "dangerous" and deemed Hiroto as a bigger "menace" due to his relationship with the vampires. What the duo did not expect was that Urseus resorted to "collaborate" with Magia's own vampires in order to crush Hybride. The kicker? Said vampire's only reason to cooperation with Urseus was because the king resemble to her late father (yes. really.). While Cognadus at least have some concern about Urseus's decision that contradicted his goals for peace, Dialog on the other hand wouldn't mind that scheme so long it will demoralize Hybride. Both of them even conspired with Urseus into ruin Hybride as bad as possible by having a kangaroo court against Hybride. And then Hiroto's visit onto Regulus changed their tactics...
3. While Dialogs hid behind the bookshelf, Cognadus was the only one who confront Hiroto and co. and he was so impressed by Hiroto's words that he granted some of the young man's request...with him as Moldius's Prime Minister. When the Four Kingdom Summit was finally commenced, both Cognadus and Dialog spent most of their time siding Urseus (subtly) and remained unfazed even by Hiroto's rebuttal that shot down most of Urseus's arguments. It was only until Hiroto mentioned about Leonidas's would be violent retribution against both Magia and Regulus made both Cognidus and Dialogs realized Hiroto's caliber for having amazing insight and debate skills, of which the former viewed it as values in the eyes of a senate. As the result, they sided with Hiroto in the all 2 Four Kingdom Summit and becoming his acquaintances since. Before Hiroto leaves, Cognadus even provide Hiroto some valid info about Freyas after Urseus's semi-reformation...
4. Not sure what their role afterwards but their journey are far from finished when they (probably) held a summit to quell the Agnika-Gassel conflict....right after Metis personally resigned her position as one of Phyllis General leading Gassel Army's takeover onto Agnika's when Agnika made some dumb decision by attacking Gassel for resources. Keep in mind that Volume 17 confirms Metis's resignation voluntarily shortly after Hiroto arrived to the said harbor and saved Agnika hostage from her rampage.

SHIFELIS -New member of Privy Council of Hybride

Spoiler for Shifelis's Story and Relationship with Hiroto:

1. Nothing much is known about her but what is known is that she is a newcomer to Hybride's affairs and whichever shrine she visited, the Spiritual Lights shines like a sun. Like Excelis, Shifelis's intentions are actually good as she genuinely wants to help the people but her self-righteousness and ignorance made her rather a vain character instead. Not sure if the speculation is right but...could she coming from Regulus in order to investigate Hybride?
2. That starts with her misunderstanding about Hiroto herself. In the beginning of their meeting, at least according to the LN's preview chapter, Shifelis loathes Hiroto with disdain simply because he accidentally gazed at her bust-causing her to view him and Leonidas as "immoral" and she is more than eager to stop them from consolidating for more power. What makes this even more hypocritical is she siding with Hydran & Finnath in against Hiroto despite these two men aren't exactly good people, considering their scheme for Hiroto only putting Hybride in danger and requires Hiroto to save the kingdom for god knows how many times. In fact, her horrible judgement of character makes Universtel of all people, calling her out for dismissing Hiroto's heroism.
3. Whatever happens in the Volume 17's story, lets assume that Hiroto's resilience and prowess leads to his narrow victory over Hydran and it may changing her perspective towards Hiroto....if Volume 18 is in making after the eroge.

Also, also, speaking of Vol. 17 similar to Vol.14 and the ongoing manga chapters (hopefully will be telling the Gezerkia Arc and beyond), maybe we talk about it now...

Spoiler for Similarities and differences between Volume 4 and Volume 17:

1. Shifelis shares some of Excelis's good yet naive personality whose don't see a bigger picture despite their good intentions for the better. The only difference between them is that Shifelis is more self-righteous than Excelis due to her higher position and a member of one of Hybride's most prestigious figures.
2. Hydran, like Feuillet, is hatching his plots to ruin Hiroto as many schemes as possible and they're both slimeballs who will do anything to get what the want. The difference between them, however, is that Hydran is a more depraved scumbag than Feuillet is due to his ambition to succeeding Moldius (who is on his sick bed due to his heart attack) in becoming king to rule across Hybride...
3. In fact, the entire thing about Hybride's succession dispute mirrors Salabria's election since both event comprises with vacant yet important positions due to circumstances and almost everyone want a pieces of it, regardless their agenda. The difference is, the former is more important than the latter where the whole kingdom's future is at stake when Moldius

Its the 4th post in the row, because the manga is out now in both (37th & 38th Chapter) and man, this is going to be an long overdue review (Chapter 37), and the latest one came out not too long ago. Am I the only one keeping an eye onto the series' progress (I am aware that Kyonyuu Fantasy 4 is Kagami-san's major project right now but we don't even know when is the release of the eroge. Maybe in early 2021 or something? Though I do recall that Kagami himself will begin writing the Volume 18 approximately last month ago) ? Look, I am busy in almost everything in real life so I have to split my post regarding both manga and LN of the series: This post is the abridged summary of the manga chapters while the next part will be my personal speculations for the would-be-coming Volume 18...if the Kyonyuu Fantasy 4 is one sale in an upcoming time. First of all, the manga chapters themselves.

So, here's the manga chapters' covers for both chapters and yes, some scenes in the manga chapter may actually foreshadowing the events from the light novel themselves. Strangely enough, the page numbers of Chapter 38 is much shorter Chapter 37, implying that that both mangaka and the manga company trying to shorten the Election Arc as soon as possible (note that LN Volume 4 has more plot details than the 1st 3 books before it). Really wish it doesn't ends before we can ravel more about Hybride itself though...



Manga Chapter 37

Spoiler for Manga Chapter 37:

1. Darmur and Leslia welcome Hiroto and their home and Hiroto's arrival at Secondaria delighted Darmur for their reunion. Nonetheless, since the election is coming soon, all Darmur can do now is give Hiroto some critical information.
   1. His fellow castle lords likes Rudin and others are planing to reclaim more lands from the north because Feuillet had promised them more profit and prestige if they vote for him as the new Governor of Salabria and support his Development Order. Light Novel version (read Volume 4) further explores this as Rudin-who initially support the project-became curious about the vampires after Darmur explained to him about them, making him as the first and only noblemen aside Darmur of the Secondaria Alliance to accept the vampires' Air Carriage.
   2. He is worry about Excelis's would-be defeat by Feuillet even she has 12 votes , more than Feuillet's 8 votes, hinting that some of her supposed supporters (specifically the 4 cities such as Glinka, Marcel, Gustave and Victor) may potentially defect for Feuillet if Excelis didn't fulfill their request.
   3. 2 merchants-namely Illion (Primaria) and Kazm (Secondaria)-from their respective towns might sell their wheat to Solum, but not without bringing up a comparison between the 2 merchants: Illion is a kind merchant but he is scary whenever he is angry. Kazm, on the other hand, is a lecherous jerk who is infamous of "borrowing" his client's wife ever time he sells his product to his client, and sometimes he rarely keeps up his word of it. In fact, Kazm is so notorious that Damur discourages Hiroto to even meet the guy in spite Hiroto's questions about what made Secondaria did that to Solum despite famine never even occurred in Salabria. Fun fact, even Hiroto himself is wonder how is someone like him haven't even being curse yet. Yes, really.
2. Unbeknownst to Hiroto, Feuillet learns his visit via his messenger's report and he smirks as if his rival is entering into his trap. Feuillet remarks about Hiroto's plan to create a world where both Humans and Other Species through 2 things: Having both Valkyria and Mimia as his aide, and the Air Carriage itself as it will utilizes many of the vampires' talent and potential, of which is considered as a leverage for Hiroto's rise of power. Even so, Feuillet still belittles Hiroto s he views him as a greenhorn lord who "don't understand" this world's politics. This being said, with Solum at its mercy to its woes, Torlan urges his lord to "help" Solum (Translation, manipulating Solum in order to spread Secondaria's influence across Salabria.) but Feuillet replies not to do anything instead, implying his trap for Hiroto has sprung. Granted, he has other castle lords as his main supporters and many of them are hostile towards the vampires and even Hiroto, but for whatever the reasons that plan will come back and bite Feuillet back. Really hard.
3. Meanwhile, Hiroto and Sorceire are riding with carriage where he still worry about his visit of Kazm but though Sorceire assures him that everything is going to be okay because she has faith in him. On the way, they stumble upon a little vampire-who happens to be Slara's son, and his name is Luluk (yes, really. It is revealed in Volume 15, BTW)-accidentally bumps into the couple, with a knight threaten to kill him by draw his sword and points at him. Thankfully, Sorceire, Hiroto and Alvy comes to Luluk's defense, with the latter humbles the swordsman by revealing the former duo's real position, forcing him to swallow his humilliation and leave along with his girlfriend, without apologizes to Sorceire, Hiroto and especially Luluk though. Later, Slara arrives to the scene and thanking Sorceire for protecting Luluk.
4. Afterwards, Hiroto, Sorceire and Alvy eventually meet up with Valkyria and Mimia and Alvy tells him that the meeting will take place at this house's room. Moving on, Hiroto can't help but to worry that there is a possibility that Kazm may not going to sell his wheat to Solum unconditionally, only to be calmed down by Sorceire who fixes his collar....followed by Valkyria and then Mimia who do the same. Anyways, a messenger informs Hiroto that Kazm has arrived and the story continues at Manga Chapter 38

Manga Chapter 38

Spoiler for Manga Chapter 38:

1. The manga continues with Kazm eyeballing at Mimia only to meet Valkyria's hostility against him. Anyway, the negotiation begins with Hiroto asking him about the price Solum can afford...only to be given a piece of paper that the price Kazm is offering is 3 times higher than the original, meaning that the merchant has no intention to sell the wheat to Solum. Even Hiroto call him out for his amoral attitude, Kazm remains his smug face while keep talking about his "merchant's principles" shtick, which further solidifying Hiroto's suspicions (but still can't figure it out) about Feuillet's trap for him. Even stranger is that of all towns in Salabria, Solum is the only town Kazm refuses to sell with an affordable price. Could this be part of Secondaria's plan?
2. Then, Kazm comes up with a malicious offer for Hiroto: Sell Mimia to him as an exchange for his wheat with a lower price. Needless to say, Hiroto is absolute livid by this and he, alongside Sorceire and Valkyria, shoos Kazm off for his insolence but the latter keeps his smug and leave by saying that it is "unfortunate" for him to reject his offer. Keep in mind that Kazm's visit onto Hiroto is part of Feuillet's trap to yank the Diferente. What comes next, however, will only make things difficult for Hiroto and, boy, Baulois's doubt for Excelis's her Development Order is actually justified...
3. An hour later, Illion-a merchant of Primaria who came to Secondaria on Excelis's behalf-is next to visit Hiroto and he offers him Primaria's help to solve the Solum's wheat price if he vote for his lord...and support her own Development Order. Appalled by such words, Hiroto berates Illion that what Excelis did make her indifferent than Feuillet, with Alvy enforcing the statement by claiming that her plan only gives her some disadvantages against Feuillet. Illion remains unfazed by both men's statement, however, as he stating that Salabria's Development Order is "inevitable" and Solum will going to do that sooner or later.
4. As his response, Hiroto tells Illion that he can't promise his vote for Excelis and says that he only vote if she reconsider her decision, Illion replies he will not sell wheat to him if . Ergo, Hiroto tells Illion to leave and says that he will <b>not</b>voting for a hypocrite who still enact her Development Order and demanding Solum to follow her despite knowing its' crisis. This causes Illion decide to reveal something but he wants Valkyria to stay out from this conversation, only to hear Hiroto's rebuttal that she is his trusted companion and as long she leaves the room, he is not listening. The manga then ends with yet another cliffhanger where Illion eventually spill the beans but urges Hiroto keep this conversation a secret...

Now, in regards of the foreshadowing and symbolism, if you read the raw version of the Light Novel series, one scene alone spells a lot of the especially Luluk's (Yes, that is the little vampire's name) scene part from Manga Chapter 37 that a) explains the hostility between humans and vampires in general and b) the events in the Light Novel that forever changing the story of the series. Also, Hiroto's rejection to Excelis's "help" only enforcing his path as the 3rd candidate of the election, for a very good reason, and this itself forever served as a beginning to his grateness.

Spoiler for Manga events that foreshadows (or referencing LN events).:

1. The scene of Luluk's confrontation with hostile couple at Secondaria foreshadows or even predicting the following events that happens in the Light Novel series.
   1. The hostile couples reflect humans' never ending jerkassery against Other Species such as vampires as they only view them as monsters despite the truth says otherwise. In fact, this itself displays Hybride's severe prejudice against the Other Species when other provinces such as Emperia, Hagar, Noblesia and others also scorns the vampires, specifically the aristocrats and ministers who only views them as "animals" instead of humans with wings. Even worse is their belittlement against Hiroto due to his friendship with the vampires despite he is the only person who actually persuade the vampires to stop their rampages.
   2. The stinger of all of this? Hybride isn't the only kingdom that shows hostility towards the vampires. Phyllis, Magia, Agnika and Gassel also has shows their scorns for their vampires to the point calling them as "demons" whenever they defeat enemies with ease. Even Regulus, a republic country that is ruled by Elven senators, is not immune to its prejudice as the elves also assume that the vampires as a menace. It takes Hiroto's involvement that these kingdoms slowly accepting the vampires, though this also garners some of Hiroto's enemies who are against humans' friendship with the vampires.
   3. Even more horrific is that unlike in this chapter, where at least he is protected by Sorceire and Hiroto, Luluk actually experienced his near death experience in Volume 15, courtesy to the vengeful Magia soldiers' vicious beatdown as their revenge for Magia Army's first and horrific defeat in Volume 13. Thankfully, he narrowly survives to the skeleton couple and Salabria's doctor, this incident have nasty ramifications for Magia as not only as the vampires (including a reformed Disgurd) storms into it's capital and find and kill [[Urseus]] for Luluk's injury, only to be ended by Lagos comes just in time to stop them from killing his king. The aftermath serves as a cautionary tale to all 6 countries about the consequences of hurting the vampires.
   4. However, in the silver lining of all of this, Sorceire's defense of Luluk also implying that people eventually open to the vampires once they get to know them personally
2. And then, Kazm's outrageous offer for Hiroto to "trade" Mimia to him in exchange for his wheat. This gives a horrific implications that some people (such as the ones who disguised as the Mummies who took nobles in Secondaria as hostage for ransom, as well as Sorceire's kidnappers) have tendencies to exploit the Mummies' (especially woman) docile and meek personality to do whatever they want with them. What, you think Kazm is the bad guy for his lust for Mimia? Light Novel Volume 11 takes the cakes where there's a villain literary raping a mummy and he almost got away from it if it wasn't for Hiroto's intervention, and Mimia almost becomes the latest victim when she tried to lure him into a honey trap-one that is set up by Hiroto in order to investigate the Mummy Rape Case at Noblesia-one of Hybride's other provinces; what's more chilling is that said villain was the son of Count Bourgault, a prestigious yet arrogant aristocrat who is so protective to his son that he actually try to hinder Hiroto's investigation in order to prevent him arresting him.
3. Also, in the same chapter, Hiroto's defense of Valkyria from Illion's harsh words implies that even the least antagonistic people are skeptical towards the vampires and remains adamant to think them as blood-sucking menace who still hold skepticism against the vampires, and this is despite the fact that all the vampires ever wanted is to have more food that continue to dwindle due to deforestation for development. Folks such as Finnath, Felkina, Abrahim, Anti-Hiroto Faction, Urseus, Dialogs are one of those notorious examples. Heck, even pre-character development Raquel is not immune to human's discrimination against Vampire due to Phyllis's superstition about the vampires as devils.
4. Finally, this is more of a summary and a conclusion for these both manga chapter: Neither Feuillet nor Excelis are adequate enough to become the Governor of Salabria. Sure, they both are candidate for the upcoming election, but considering their policies that are not practical, Salabria will be doomed if either of them win the election and becomes the governor: Feuillet is too ambitious for his own good as he only cares about his development disregarding other people's livelihood especially the Other Species, of which may trigger the Spiritual curse. Excelis, while not as bad as Feuillet and most of her decision came from supposed good intentions, is equally guilty for making a decision without seeing a bigger picture beyond her plans. Both views that Developing Order are the only to secure their power, albeit different agenda, but it never occur to them that doing so will only exacerbate the already troubling vampire rampage across even in Salabria, let alone Hybride.
