Not the reunion I had in mind.

It's been a while since I hated a character so much, kahaku needs to die the worst way possible.

Well Kahaku has finally lost it. Can't even blame it on his hand as he's been getting progressively more obsessive since his debut. His great grandmother really rubbed off on him there.

Say what you will about Kahaku, he's the only one who's been protesting Fushi gradually being turned into a WMD. He's a creeper to the max, but when you're right, you're right.

If Kahaku is the voice of reason you know things are seriously fucked up.

Kahaku has become Hayase 2.0. Fushi is probably going to go back to being a rock next week and someone is going to have to kill Kahaku's Nokker to bring him back. Not much March can do, but I guess Kai, Hairo or Messar can warn Bon in soul form.

Sad episode for Messar. I'm not sure he's going to want to stick around anymore.

This, this can't be stressed enough.
It bugs me to no end that he is the only pointing out how wrong is to make Fushi be responsible for everything.

Personally, the manga started to lose me during this arc.

Bon is the villain of the arc IMO.

I really don't think that's the author's intention.

I also completely disagree about Kahaku being the voice of reason. The difference between Kahaku and Bon is that Kahaku only cares about Fushi and is under the delusion Fushi was tricked by the Man in Black into protecting humanity and that Bon is trying to exploit him for his own benefit. On other hand, Bon cares about both Fushi and the people of Renril and has been shown agonizing over some of his choices more than once.

There is zero reason to see Bon as a villain, especially since he just went through a big redemption arc.

You don’t think Bon is using Fushi? We’re watching a very different series.

Kahakau is a total nutter, no argument. But only Kahaku is saying that what’s being done to Fushi is exploitation. And for the right reason, too - because it’s eroding his humanity, which he strove for so long to achieve.

As for what Ooima thinks, I don’t think it’s clear. And that’s common in series where superficially “good” characters behave in disturbing ways. It’s entirely possible she thinks Bon is fine and I just totally disagree with her. But I also think she’s casting aspersions on Bon’s methods here.

Bon has been pretty selfish to keep the secret of reviving Fushi's dead friends to himself for months. By doing so, he not only put the entire stress on Fushi to win the war by himself. He likely felt jealous that his old companions might have taken Fushi away from him. The result now being they are losing this war and Fushi's own humanity that took him centuries to build.

Bon's methods are definitely questionable, but he's doing the only thing that can be done in the current situation. Allowing Fushi to rest or not fight is just not an option, they would lose almost immediately. And losing in this case means everyone dying, which is not something Fushi himself would want.

I admit I don't get why he's been withholding important information from Fushi, but he told Kahaku it was to protect Fushi's humanity and I believe him.

Jesus, Kahaku went from a guy with a crush to mental insanity. Probably something accidentally hilarious is how he is covered with the blood of the suicide squad and Fushi didn't give a damn since they are immortal. Also, March is back for real but I have clue what exactly is going on right now.

Just an old chestnut for when you're skeptical of something being believable.

Oh, alright. Since I'm not American I was plain confused.

I'm not sure I can see this. "Humanity" doesn't seem something high on his list of priority. Curious: How do you interpet the very ending of the latest episode: Is that the Nokker acting on his own? Is that Fushi losing his mind?

I thought that was Kahaku just being tired of seeing Fushi suffering. He's been asking what Fushi wants, Fushi says he wants it all to end, so Kahaku and Nokker reset him... a bit like a deranged nurse volunteering a long-suffering and terminal patient for euthanasia. (I'm not sure about that Nokker; it's been suspicous since it chased down Hayase. It could have broken out of the hive from curiosity, or it could be an elaborate hive-mind plan.)

I'm certainly not confident the show will validate the way I saw that scene.

Kahaku looked pretty distressed at the end so I'm pretty sure it's the Nokker acting on its own. Probably part of a very long con.

Yeah, Kahaku is a dumpster fire but there’s no way he’d intentionally hurt Fushi - it’s literally the last thing he’d ever want to do if he were in control of his body.
