on chapter 4 and while I still love yuru camp more than anything, I didn't like aya and rin bike trip that much. It felt like rin was cheating nadeshiko with aya while nadeshiko was left out all the time ;A;

The Out-Club now has more firewood logs than they know what to do with! Which means they have to get to splitting and showing off Nadeshiko's mad log-splitting skills! Though nothing tops the vice-principal with a chainsaw .

With them splitting firewood, it's the perfect chance to tell the story of the Out-Club Leftovers' trip to northern Yamanishi while Nadeshiko and her besties were on their trip! We can even turn it into a thriller premiering at a theater near you .

So it's a flashback which means anything can happen...like Nadeshiko being there! Though that unbalances the flashback too much that she has to wait on the side with color commentary. But we can at least let Chikuwa be on this trip, right? It's okay right!? We can even throw in Hanpen, a WeTube Siberian dog star, because why not ?

That moment when the background in a flashback is blurry because the people doing the flashback were too caught up to actually pay attention to it .

They really didn't think they could talk about food without Nadeshiko chipping in? Nothing Nadeshiko loves more than food porn! And now she's infecting the flashback with her favorite munchies .

Koniichiwa tomatoes! Koniichiawa-voiced Chikuawa !

Nice reminder than when she's not a hopeless drunk, Toba-sensei is actually a dedicated and responsible teacher .

Do we already have the big group camp trip set with them planning to see the cherry blossoms together ?

It's all well and good to enjoy some good yakitori...but not when you miss your bus and have to scramble to your next destination because no self-respecting Japanese campers can skip a hot springs. Even if it means hiking up Death Hills like Rin and Aya's Death Road! But they succeeded, even for a very brief dip .

Bless Inuko for trying to keep this trip on-point when Ena and Aki are about to fall asleep...and then Aoi can't help herself. But they got on the bus! So...success !

What is Syoy sauce? Is it just mispelled soy sauce? Find out in part two! But for now...wish you had the ice cream the other girls have .

I love how they're telling the story of their camping trip. I'm sure it would have been entertaining enough as a regular story, but instead they did this almost 4th wall breaking style of flashback. Makes the whole thing extra funny, and allows for Nadeshiko to have some screentime despite not being on their trip.

Well a backstory about the other camping trip in form of a weird Twilight Zone episode

Nadeshiko just keeps breaking the wall of the story

Another dog appears

That's being pretty conservative with the lumber. I suppose letting it dry out as much as you can is sensible. But feel like I've made use of lumber that hasn't been sitting around for nearly that long in a wood stove without much issue. Wood will burn!

It was a cute episode. I both like this approach to telling the story and partly hope they don't do it that often in future seasons. It's funny, but I kind of prefer being in the moment with the characters rather than commentating about the trip and jumping in and out of it. But it's fun for a one-off sort of thing.

This latest episode speaks well to the risks of embellishment and creating false memories. In the last episode, Nadeshiko had considered using photoshop to add in a locomotive, leading to funny looks from Rin and Ayano, so this episode's presentation spoke to the consequences of that, being a clever way of exploring that idea further.

As an aside, the manga gives it as "zoy" sauce, so it's likely a misspelling. It's a one-off joke that just creates a bit of humour, but since there's no English equivalent of the joke here, they've gone with typos. In Japanese, soy sauce is normally rendered as しょゆ in Hiragana, but rather than the sokuon ょ, the store's used the full-sized よ, resulting in しよゆ.

Actually, that's not a good idea. Wet wood has a few problems: if you're lucky, it just won't catch a flame or the fire will go out. Depending on the wood, it'll become really smokey when burnt, and in the worst case, fire heating up the water inside the wood will cause the water to become steam, fracturing the wood and potentially sending splinters every which way, which is a hazard.

I mean again...wood stove. Not made out of paper mache. Almost none of that is a real problem. If I'm sticking my face in there the bigger risk would be catching fire, not splinters. The ideal solution is certainly going to be more dried out wood. But situations aren't always going to be ideal. If I've gotta pull some wood out of the snow to burn it, then that's what going to happen. Cold trumps idealistic scenarios.

Point being that a year is downright excessive. If wood needed to be dried out for that long then every campsite like Rin visited in episode 1 would downright forbid collecting firewood from the area. Since I'm darn sure that area saw rain within the last year. For campfires a person would want to be fairly careful. But in general unless you are grabbing wood right after it's rained you are hardly in that much trouble. Because yeah completely soaked wood isn't going to be worth the effort.

Instead of just reposting what Infinite Zenith already mentioned I'll just link a few of the dozens of articles talking about this.

https://mountainhomestove.com/avoid-...-dry-firewood/

https://spokanecleanair.org/now-is-t...0sounds%20dull.

https://www.familyhandyman.com/artic...-dry-firewood/

https://forestry.ca.uky.edu/drying-f...0and%20chimney.

https://logwisefirewood.co.uk/is-it-...hour%20or%20so.

https://www.coastalfireplaces.com.au...4-reasons-why/

TL;DR Can you burn wet wood? Sure if it's the only option, and a choice between freezing to death or not. Is it ideal? Absolutely not, not even in a wood stove, unless you're trying to ruin it. So, yes please dry your wood for at least 6 to 12 months if you know you're going to need some for burning.

I'd love to see a video of you achieving precisely that. Go take a log that's been sitting in snow for a week and show me the process to make that burn with no tinder and only a single match. The wood popping and splintering is only one of several problems, as was clearly mentioned: the first and main problem is that the water increases the energy required to actually ignite the wood. At that point, you'd be better served cutting the wood down to size to get at the dried bits and make shavings from that, ignite that and then hope there's enough heat to make the remaining wet, cold wood ignite.

Good practical sense of letting firewood dry out to the recommended level of dryness aside, there's actually another benefit to this specific application.

The wood that the school's outdoor club prepared the previous year gets used by the continuing or replacement members of the outdoor club the next year. It's a bit of a pay-it-forward club element feature. Even better, the big stack of split and stacked wood outside is also a permanent advertisement for the club.

With pleasant introduction by Inuko, we now return to our "Memories of Mizugaki" flashback special, part two !

Nothing beats lounging around with a scenic view! Some people rock-climb, other people would rather spend an exorbitant amount of money on drones because it's too much work to get a mountain view .

They didn't really think Toba-sensei would ditch them, did they? Not only will she never abandon her charges, they give her the most convenient excuse to get @#$%-faced drunk !

Nadeshiko and her family are slightly internet famous with all the recipe's they post on a cooking website. I love how Sakura's are simple, to the point, and yet still very tasty .

Aki has a hankering for pizza! And her gal pals are happy to provide for her! Only...it's okonomiyaki instead of pizza! Though they still end up cooking some genuine pizza anyways. They couldn't leave poor Aki hanging like that .

Nadeshiko is here for the food porn! But even she draws the line at the return of Aki's Death Sausages...but this time she actually got it right! And it's super tasty, especially with some cooked nuts !

Only in their spruced up flashback could Toba-sensei be a classy drunk .

Where's Chikuwa? Breaking the fourth wall, along with the other girls who jump into Ena's house and leaving Hanpen all alone to enjoy the campsite. And now voiced by Akio Ohtsuka, he brings everything together while also advertising his WeTube channel !

It's nice to think the Out-Club girls can pass on all their firewoood to the next generation of the club...assuming they ever recruit some underclassmen and get official club status. But at least they've got the big group cherry blossom camp to look forward to! Rin and Nadeshiko are already enjoying the cherry blossoms together at the start of Spring Break .

I was so with Aki as the "pizza" segment was going on. Total hype "yeah pizza time" to "what the heck is actually happening here!?" That is not pizza Yuru camp!

If that B-team kept messing up pizza I was ready to have their recollection involve dropping them into Mordor! Some sins are unforgivable! Credit to them in some ways. The first one was so unforgivable that I can't even criticize their choices for toppings on the second one!

Thank god they only left an unattended fire burning in a recollection campsite!

Cute enough episode and it was nice to see what the other characters were up to. Though it's also a reminder that we're shockingly close to the end of the season! Still plenty of time left, but still it's just about there.

The second episode was just as fun as the first. Brilliant way to tell us what the other characters were up to. It didn't overstay its welcome at all either, two episodes was just the right length.

Ok, so how do these girls eat so much and yet stay so thin? How do they even manage to eat this much in the first place?

This eighth episode certainly did have a great deal of excellent eats in it, showing how a little ingenuity and creativity can allow one to further their experiences (especially in the discounted tomatoes and Chiaki's DIY cardboard box smoker).

There are some drones out there that are quite affordable (the really entry level ones cost no more than a decent camping chair), with obvious caveats like having less range or a weaker camera. The really good drones, on the other hand, can cost quite a bit: one of my local retailers sells a high end model for 6000 CAD, but these are still more cost-effective than hiring a helicopter pilot for mountain-top footage.

A look at the cast finds that we've already got voice actresses for new characters. Since it's spring break for Nadeshiko and the others, we're probably going to have to wait until after the hanami camp to see them, which means that, between Rin's final solo adventure that she mentioned and the hanami camping trip, we may only get one episode with the prospective members.

It's probably the case that everyone eats normally on most days and then feast more extravagantly during camping. Coupled with the fact that everyone walks a bit, both normally and especially during camping trips, they're able to work off the extra calories.

the bizarre fourth wall breaking camp is over but it was really fun.

now that we are in the last chapters is time for the full cast camping trip. I do wonder if they will get new members for the club.

Spring is here and Rin is back to solo camping! And no better ride than one where you get to witness the changing of the seasons in all their beauty !

I feel like it's been a consistent trend this season of drives being hard for Rin, with rocky or steep roads .

Rin has this great camping spot all to herself! Well, other than the couple car-camping, but still. Also, I guess it's flattering that they thought she was just a short college student instead of a high schooler ?

Some people really aren't considerate of the campgrounds or common camping courtesy, especially when there isn't a manager overseeing things, but good on Rin and the couple to clean things up and use that as an excuse to finally get acquainted .

No better reason to keep campgrounds clean than to make sure John Wick doesn't find you .

Girl + Girls = Garlic! Yeah, even the narrator had to take a second to recover from that .

Rin takes the Mizugaki koniichiwa tomatoes she got from Ena and made pasta I think any bonafide Italian would be able to accept .

Sakura and Nadeshiko going on a cherry blossom tours! Nice to see the sisters spending some quality time together and enjoying the sights around them. We even got a genuine smile from Sakura !

No sandwich gets left behind on Nadeshiko's watch .

Nadeshiko's camping experience means she can make short work for running up some temple steps !

No camping trip would be complete without a dip in some scenic hot springs. I had a feeling Rin would run into that couple again as a result. Turns out Ogawa is like her in the sense that she's a hardcore bicyclist who travels through her Sports Bike. Though poor Rin's bicycle that got ditched for her moped !

Time for the cherry blossom viewing with the girls! But first...more Chikuawa and Aki doing a solo camp ?
