I just saw the raw version of episode 5, knowing from IIchan's traslation of the manga what it is about, and I can't hardly wait to see the fansub.

I had mixed feeling about the episode, on one hand I have noticed that escenes of the episode, at the beginning as well as in past episodes, had a low quality animation, yet the finals escenes, especially the last were beautiful animated.

Spoiler for Episode 5:

Poor foolish William, even before Emma appeared at the party, he was regretting his engagement to Eleanor, poor girl, I hope the animators use the chapters of Emma Bangaihen and gave her a happy ending.

When Emma was getting dressed up for the party I was fearing that the animators didn't include the tightening of Emma's corset

The last escene of the episode, I my opinion, is the best till now of the two seasons, it said in all its glory that Emma and William love each other with all their hearts and souls, it is hard to see and not been moved. I wonder how many AMV is going to inspire?

I liked the few changes they make, instead of Emma hugging him, is William who embrace Emma, yet no mama interrupt their kiss, it seems like she left the residence, but she seemed to suspect something between the two.

I just watched episode 5. And man, man, man... William, you idiot!

Now where do I begin? First of all, I'm already torn between feeling sorry for Eleanor and cheering for Emma, and this episode further heightens that sentiment. The fact the story and these characters can invoke such feelings is a testament to their power to move the audience and hit them where it matters the most in the realm of love stories: they make us care.

Second, I was practically at the edge of my seat watching this. And I already read this part from the manga by the way. Now, how often does a person say that with regard to romantic stories such as this? Then again, maybe I'm just a softie in denial deep inside.

With regard to animation quality, the part where William brushes his fingers on Emma's face is surprisingly well done. So short, so minute, but still great stuff indeed. The latter moments of this episode are undeniably the reasons why you're watching this show in the first place.

So far, this is my favorite episode from the second season. I'll probably watch this more than once.

No matter how much I may not particularly like Eleanor - it's just plain damn mean of William to cheat on her, and besides Eleanor hasn't actually done anything wrong (although her parents are another kettle of fish... -_-)

But at the same time it has to be William and Emma for me ;_;

Even if I love HANS! because he is so cool and moody and silent and has kickass sideburns (plus many other things, of course), I... can't... don't know whether to be okay with it yet.

Urgh, why does this show have me so tied up! Stop it!

No surprise that episode 5 was storyboarded by the director himself, of course....

Episode 2

First I have to say, I really apreciate those trivia pieces at the end of each episode and this time it was a lot and added greatly to the context understanding. It's always nice to spend time with your favourite hobby and learning something kinda by-going

Before, I didn't care too much for Eleanor, but I can feel for her after this episode. It hurts to long for someone who clearly isn't interested.
William's little brother is just cute! I can understand how one look in his little face makes his elder sister & brother's heart melt.

The ending of the episode gives a feeling as if Emma's und William's path are going cross each other again in the future. (= Who is that woman on the portrait? A relative of William's?)

I just watched Episode 3 and I shall share some insights from my brilliant gutter mind.

Had it not been the Victorian age, I'm quite sure Eleanor would kiss and probably have sex with William after the hug scene in the rain. Throw in a shotgun wedding and more angst from Emma... pure drama.

Hmmm..as much as i love this series, and more in love with Emma's character..I still cant like William very much in Season 2. William is a guy who gives up rather easily. Even though it may be impossible for him to find Emma again, but i wish he had tried to do something about his dependance on his family's wealth. After all, William really doesnt have an identity of his own. Iwish he tried to establish himself independantly, and live with Emma away from his family.

But then again, it is obviously easier said than done. But still, William softening up to Eleanor just because she likes him, is a very bad move, since he still loves Emma, and this way, he will end up hurting Eleanor even more.

You already said it yourself. The realities of his situation place him in a seemingly no win situation. Class distinctions, responsibility to the family and adherence to the norms of society... Disregarding such things are never a simple matter despite how good one's intentions are. I can't really blame him for succumbing to these pressures, which further serve to heighten the romantic aspect of this love story.

However while I find his softening up to Eleanor somewhat distasteful, I also read it as his way of trying to move on as fast as possible—and ultimately, failing at it. Moreover, I think it would be quite mean of him to simply shove her off out of his life, but then being all gentlemanly and kind sure doesn't help his situation. He should've just taken a vacation or something instead.

There's something intimately tragic about every major player in the show. And while I find some characters more likeable than others, I really can't say if I'm able to dislike anyone at all. I guess for me, that's a sign of a good story. (Yes, that includes Eleanor's parents...)

I mean, the wheel turns, even if it is turning slowly. But, it looks like we're starting to see the first step in Emma and William reuniting... as well as a new, veeery interesting element being introduced.

Ok, I just want to say sign me up for a dark haired guy with hairy side-burns that kicks ass. Hahahaha!! I'm just commenting on episode 1. Of course by now everyone is up to the later episodes. I not to long ago finished ep. 3.

Uhm... Why would you think she was dead? Unless you haven't read the manga. As for her hobby, I take it Japanese art became quite popular especially after the opening of Japan. Many posters here are probably much worse cases of weeaboo, lol.

I assume it's not just Japanese art. Mrs. Trollope simply has a love for all things Oriental. During those times, the West had a fascination for the East that ranged from cultural interests to colonial ones. It's also true even today.

As for assuming she died, I don't think even the anime even says anything about it. (Of course, I could be wrong though...) But with the wistful way William stares at her painting, it really isn't that surprising to think so.
