Okay I've seen volumes 24 to 26 and this is what happens (I don't know if 26 is the last volume but I think it is).

Spoiler for Ending?:

Volume 24:

• Azuma beats Meister Kirisaki
• Yuichi Kirisaki (hereafter Kirisaki) reveals he was the kind old man who first got Azuma interested in bread making (see volume 1).
• Kirisaki tells his back story about why he left his family (it has something to do with the Devil (Maou, King of Evil)). Kirisaki then collapses.
• Azuma and Kawachi go training (they don't train together). Kawachi ends up as a Darma doll.

Volume 25:

• Kawachi becomes a tiny darma.
• I believe that Kirisaki ends the Yakitate 25, then starts controlling people with his mind-controlling bread.
• When Azuma confronts Kirisaki, Kirisaki removes his glasses and reveals that his eyes have become bread (most likely he's now made of bread).
• Azuma challenges Kirisaki and they agree to have a duel on a mountain (probably Mount Fuji).
• Azuma prepares for the challenge, while Kawachi devolves into a bowl of dough.
• When Azuma and everyone else go to the challenge site they're ambushed by Kirisaki's men, who now have bread powers (they don't die if shot). Though they run away when Kuroyanagi starts eating them.

Volume 26:

• Azuma arrives at the challenge site, where a hatch opens and kitchen area appears.
• Kirisaki then transforms
• Azuma then bakes some bread with a spiral in the centre (Japan?).
• After eating the bread Kirisaki's head become a large, weird shape; so he pulls his own head off and throws it away (). The severed head becomes Kirisaki, while the body grows a bull-like head (the Devil's head? Bread Devil?).
• Azuma then gives some of his bread to Kawachi who turns into a kick boxer (there's a pun here involving involving a 19th century man). Kawachi then defeats the Bread Devil.
• However the Bread Devil launchs one final attack on Azuma, however Kirisaki intercepts it. Though injured Kirisaki survives.
• Afterwards everyone ends up celebrating their sucess at the beach. While in his room Kawachi finds a top-less, dark skined girl who is related to his kick-boxer reaction (I don't know how, it involves carbon dioxide).
• At this point everyone decides to visit Kawachi, who tries to hide this girl but fails.
• Azuma then makes a bread that I believe allows the eater to change the world (there's some reactions then a montarge of people and what they're doing). Kuroyanagi becomes an old man (I don't know who he's meant to be), Pierrot makes a party world, Kawachi becomes Dhalsim, Ken (the afro manager) gives all his Yakuza afros, Suwabara has bread making students, Kageto Kinoshita is still working all by himself in Tsukino's store, Mokoyama (now a panda) and Mizuno are working at their store, Kanmuri is a scientist, Kuroyanagi is walking off into the sunset, and Azuma is getting an award.
• The series ends with Dhalsim Kawachi being attacked by Ken and Ryu (nadate!).

Is anyone with me that this manga just went from being mildly interesting during the fist Phantasia newbie tournament, to kind of weird during the trip to Monaco, to downright bad (read: crap) during the last arc? I mean, I think this is the most extreme example of a manga who went from a semi serious story to a complete self parody.

I thought they really should have just ended it at the Monaco cup. The time travelling thing was funny, but now all the reactions are just way over the top. Also, Yukino being bald? WTF?

Seriously, really went down hill.

Yep, I agree. The beginning was interesting and all but the reactions just got really old and stupid. The biggest disappointment that I have with manga is the butchering of Kawachi as a character. Before he was a loser but when he was faced with a challenge he rose up and went beyond of his character to do something great. But now he just became a useless sidekick who does nothing but sit on the sideline and stand around doing nothing (actually except saying what frequently) .
