yeah..
its quiet interessting to guess what will happen next...
with nations stand up against amalgan is some interessting idea...
maybe leonard gets to some right way of thinking and kill mr. gold...^^
but for most i hope sagara will rescue chidori and they get an happy ending..
no more hits for him and so on..

but maybe there will be an sad ending like in many japan animes-.-
sure cant wait ._.

Hey Theman , sweet background info on the little Testarossas. It's quite interesting to know Leonard's age when the 'event' occured ( and what the relationship between him and his mother was like).

In COHO it says six years has passed since they died and therefore I had assumed Leonard was 11 at the time being 17 in that book.

About all this Amalgam sympathizer stuff : I don't think much of it will affect the outcome of NOT. I think ur reading into it too much - sure if Amalgam has sympathizers then they are unlikely to be interferred with by other coutries in terms of black markets trade + research ... but , i doubt any mere 'sypathizers' will stand against Mithril ( remenants) . I think any who agrees with Amalgam but are not directly connected will leave it to burn if it goes down.

On the flip side I don't think any countries who favour Mithril or hate Amalgam will step in on the action ( aside from a possible group of aid from agents to Mithril ie. nothing big).

What I think. France obviously was on good terms ith Mithril and I believe the U.S. is. While Mithril did take action against the U.S.S.R, Alamglan took ever harsher actions against, so I think the U.S.S.R would fight them.

I couldn't see the U.S.S.R. or America fighting against Amalgam. Dear God, one rogue unit in the middle of Hong Kong and NEITHER side (both with comparable tech to the U.S.S.R. and America) could eliminate the damn thing, besides piling a ridiculous number of units on its "killed" list. The whole organization is too far ahead of the countries of the world. Plus, the tech of Mithril and Amalgam (LDS) actually creates FORCE FIELDS. That stuff is way beyond any tech that the other countries have. A single vessel could wipe out a field of troops without breaking a sweat. Hell, Mithril's M9s were torn apart by units using LDS in active combat against them. Leonard alone could probably kill off a hundred AS without any trouble on his part...

It's not a typo Tokyopop only publish the novel part of the main story line. The second japanese novel is a compilation of short stories.

Just bought and read "One Night Stand" this last weekend -- much better than the first novel! (Although, in both novels Kaname comes off as more petty and bitchy than she did in the anime, lol) Wish Tokyopop would put up the date for the third novel on their FMP series website.

In this issue we have the serious Mardurkas talking about Chess ("The most intelligent kind of sport") instead of Submarine Combat. Note that it's International Chess, not the Chinese Xiangqi.

Chess are good for gentlement to compete with each other, but on the other hand there're some kind of strong will for winning behind. Actually, Emanuel Lasker (1868-1941, a German chess grandmaster and mathematician) was seen as a fighter during the games. Chess only had one aim, that's to eliminate each other, so numerous tactics had been developed by the masters. But, Chess games also had their artistic side since the movement records of a game also have fixed theories like music, and like all music, they seems logical but actually they aren't. During the games, the players will show their personality, as some of them will play as a poet, some like scientists, or some will like barbarians.

Personally, he likes the classic method of striking at the central Pawn from the start (don't exactly know what's the name is, it's something like E4, E5->F4), like starting an intense fight from the start as in Boxing. This method was very popular among historical figures, such as Karl Marx, which he think Marx's use of this method seems to be "romantic".
So as himself, who plays in a way different to how he appeared to all, especially for those who knew his way of Submarine combat. A superior had told him that "if you can use the mind within the Command Panal of the submarine to play chess, you can also become a grandmaster", and it seems to warn about his straightforward way of playing.
Still, actual fighting skills aren't necessarily equal to that skill in Chess. For example, Napoleon. He's a war genius as we all knew it, but his skills in Chess is surprisingly bad, and it's heard that he'll turn the table upside down when he lost. Same as Tessa's case, unlike her skills shown in actual combat, she plays chess quite poorly, as she's not interested in these nor knowing the theories. (He then adds taht she'll probably stand high in the world if she works hard, but she didn't, and he feels that's a shame. Duh.)
Back to Napoleon. He always fought with a special opponent: "Turkish", world's earliest automatic Chess machine or, as one saw them, a puppet showing Chess skills when wearing Turkish clothes. But if it's 19th Century, this machine is still lots early than Charles Babbage's automated machines, so it's predicted that "Turkish" was coltrolled by someone behind the secnes. Those real automated Chess machines start to exist when computers are invented, and there're even some kind of them that even the World Champions can't win over them. Seeing the fact that machines are now stronger than humans, he feels sad for it.
But as far as Japanese may concern, the status of the Japanese Chess (can't find exactly what name it is, the Wiki seems broken) are still relatively safe since it's lots more complex than Western Chess, so even the newest computers can't beat professional players. (HS Note: I heard that Xiangqi are also unbeatable by computers at this point. Good for Chinese.)

The top Chess player in Japan is, according to FIDE's rankings, around 3500 in 18K, but taht's already good enough as an ameteur.
As for his rank, he states that he didn't play any public games, so no ranks for him. But he indeed beat some of the Top 50 players in the world after lots of researches and hard works, so it doesn't mean his skills are that good. (Heh)

Because the climax is building up, so he has to explain lots of mysteries mentioned before, and deal with those stuff that need to be done. He specially talks about Mao, but he just leaves some laughs behind. As for Whispered, he said that he'll explain those when the story crosses with Mao, and he did think hard about that. ("Whispered are the aliens from the space! [Really?] No, just joking. [......]") In the new chapter Sousuke and his friends will face lots of difficulties, but they'll still work hard for the future. But he refuses to talk more about the rest of the folks. __________________ Obviously ,hope is the first step to the road of disappointment. But no fear, people can only overcome disappointment when one still has hope in the mind. So keep on fighting UNTIL THE GOAL IS REACHED!!
