Episode 6:
Tons of action this week and background story about Mahime. I have a feeling that Hotaru will show up on time so... I really hope Maihime doesn't die next episode. Also Suzaku snapped lol

You know...I'm not actually surprised with Suzaku snapping. Pretty well expected that. After being shut down by grief, blind rage would be the natural follow-up. Luckily the enemy has provided more than enough fodder for him to unleash his anger against.
Seems like what happened was a trigger for them to basically be able to pinpoint lock in on the codes of these students and thus snipe them pretty effectively. A darn impressive last stand by Maihime. Kind of a sad thing seeing her go through her place....but I presume most of these kids basically have dead parents. I still love the whole "somehow humanity held them off" bit. Really? What somehow are we talking about here? Brutal fight though. Maihime really giving all she had and struggling with each person they lost in the defense. Did the best she could though.

Seeing these hammerheads closely, it doesn't look like Canaria has high chances for comeback anymore.
On other note, I really hope hime can last before Hotaru and siblings arrive, one victim ismore than enough.

They could have dual functions. That purple head being used to beat down on stronger enemies before opening up to capture individuals after. Or could simply be that they don't want to show that much mess in this show and people were just crushed into paste on the ground . Odds are pretty good at these attacks being fatal. At the very least the show hasn't indicated they aren't so might as well roll with that.

Well, Hime is awesome now, both as badass and a likable character, and it took half the running time, but at last we get some info about what a World is. Glad I decided to catch up, but now things look really bad for the princess, and/or Hotaru. I honestly don't believe anyone is dead, but I certainly don't want to see Hime getting swallowed by a giant flying coffin.
Meanwhile, Icchan is losing his marbles and the solution for the moment seems to be just let him cry (read:blow) it off |

Episode 6
So there were quite some death flags over there with Maihime. Let's see if they end up killing off another main character. Although I really don't see how killing Maihime could be beneficial for any character's development or anything else for that matter. I mean, the Chiba siblings are left and they hardly care about anyone else. If the Chiba siblings would be getting their development through a character dying then Canaria being killed should have done that. We get some explanation on what this "World" power thingy is. The kids have some dream and their abilities reflect the way they want to achieve that dream or something along those lines. We get some more back story on Maihime. And she's determined to protect everyone to the point that she leaves herself behind to take on the newer unknown species. And those unknowns are using the codes of the students to zero in on them with pinpoint accuracy and attack as if they were carpet bombing the place. A lot of lives are lost here. Or at least it appears that they're dead because the big whatevers that fall on them seem to hurt and not just cover them up as Maihime took damage when she got hit by them from all directions. Or they could ignore that and turn those big whatevers into capsule like things meant for capturing purposes provided they want to bring Canaria back. And Suzaku loses it and goes berserk blowing up everything since he no longer has any purpose in life after Canaria is gone. He might as well blow up the world since there's no reason for him to live on because that is obviously the best decision to make. |

Honestly, I'm surprised that Ichiya has pretty much lost it. Seemed like one of the more obvious paths his character would take. I guess it works as a temporary solution. They at least have him back as a fighter for now.
Looks like either Hime or Hotaru may get killed off, though I'm still skeptical as to whether they are really being killed off.

The logical part of me thinks each team is going to get their own arc and the Chiba siblings will be up next, but the Hime fanboy part of me is going to just blindly hope that these last couple episodes have represented a permanent switch in main protagonist.
I don't think they're going to kill her off either. If they were I feel like they'd have done it at the end of this episode, but instead the last scene had a really optimistic and confident tone to it, and not in the "build a happy moment to crush it" way like with what happened to Canaria. |

Suza-kun so cool~
Look at his power, the most versatile and probably the strongest too, splitting the ocean like Moses So what? For every pair, 1 person will die? So in the end only Suza-kun and Asuha remain? Weird...

That's actually a very good question. We even have a different ED now. Or maybe there was never supposed to be a single main character in the first place? Meanwhile, onii is rolling in his grave. |
