Well, as long there is neither some kind of news nor rumor there is no need to get back to topic.
Uhmmm, yeah... But trust me, I will never post some video that says sth. like "OMGZZZ!!!! SECONDZZZ ZEASON!!!!!!!!" if it's just not there. Just hate that too much myself. Now back to off-topic plz. |

But just in case I'm wrong about the GMT time (Daylight Savings Time always screws me up), go to this site to get the current time in Japan, and figure it from that.

Thank Goddess, that there isn't any annoying X-mas songs here. Or maybe I'm just never bother to listen to them. But there's one about the Three Magi, what is really beautiful. Speaking of the Three Magi, I don't know if I would swear or laugh when it'll turn out that Kadokawa is trolling us again and leaving us without the embodiment of the God again. Hmm, so GMT +1, it'll be 4.40pm on Thursday. I'll write it down. |

The lyrics for the ending song (for Haruhi-chan) refer to rumors of a continuation and how everyone's been waiting for it, but no solid proof. We'll just have to countdown until Thursday, and maybe even longer after that. I'm guessing that we'll either get new episodes starting with BLR this week or after the reruns completely finish.

Let's see, my on-the-fly, Rikaichain enabled, uncleaned translation goes:
Without advance notice, without advertising, what's a sequel to do? (Or "what to do about a sequel," not sure) To be assembled, when will it be? ... I don't know With expectation, with motivation, we wait for a sequel It's just a rumor, sorry everyone Lalala, this evening, we greet you on this stage Who is going to call on who "A space alien's evening is long" "A heart's wall" "Is shaking" "Jump!" I understand, I've had enough I understand, I've seen it But the leading part is dependent on you So thanks for everything! Become an anime, become a manga, it's an extra (omake) game (or a lost game) From the original work it's spread out ... Another world Whatever there is, derailments there are, you get an extra For what been sold and the contributions made, thank you everyone Lalala, somehow, backstage The new work is set aside It's too pitiable (I have no idea what the rest of this line means) "Bored bored bored" (no idea about the middle) "Don't say anything" Wrong, that time is/was Wrong, I've seen it Then the leading part is unsaid In the distant future we'll fight/disagree In one word at a time, give me your thoughts, what's your real intention? Anonymously saying it is okay, please please! It's punishment x9 Punishment x2 and punishment x2 (theater? I can't tell) (I'm not even going to try the next two lines) I understand, the next one is I understand, the next will definitely be Come, this next *CENSORED* (actually, they said "asterix") but We can't broadcast it... That's enough for today! There, a quick, almost-blind idiot translation. The lyrics I used came from here. Also, mine doesn't include the lines Kyon was throwing in. |

...I still have no idea what this is supposed to mean, but...
This pretty much confirms that no, we're not getting a second season, if you ask me. Of course, the Haruhi-chan opening confirms that we ARE... I'm so fucking confused right now. Though, I will say it right now: If BLR doesn't air next week, the TV stations were wrong about the 28 episodes thing and no, we're not getting a new season. |

In addendum: If BLR doesn't air next week, we will never be getting the second season of Haruhi Suzumiya.
It's like typhonsentra said: Duke Nukem Forever was finally cancelled. The dream is dead. If I'm proven wrong next week, fine. But it can't happen. It's just too good to be true. Too good to be true after waiting this long. They'd never do it. Because even after you're trolled again next week, you'll still have hope. And that's all they want. |

The rational side of my brain (wait, there's a what now?) agrees, and is now in despair.
The naive, irrational and dreaming part of my brain thinks that Kadokawa might as well be trolling us with every announcement and release they're part of. They could be telling us the truth with the lyrics to the ending song, and there won't be a second season. Or that could be a lie, too. Maybe everything they've said up until now has been bullshit. There's always the possibility of a later broadcast too, in the summer or later this year. Some people got excited over the idea that some sort of new second season content would air in the winter, because of the whole December 18 thing in Disappearance. There's Tanabata coming up eventually, which would go along with Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody, so people are going to start wondering if there'll be new stuff in the summer. But this counts as hope, which is what they want, so I guess I'm just falling into their trap. Goddamn rational thoughts, popping up again. I dunno, I think that Kadokawa and all the other people involved with Haruhi know exactly what they're doing. Either that, or the lyrics of the ED were referring to something else. I don't know what they would have been referring to, but it's possible that since it's so close to when we think a new episode might pop up, the slightest hint of a second season (or lack thereof) could cause a huge explosion of speculation and whatnot. |
