According to dear Eddy, there's like a "wall" preventing him from entering Bella's mind and reading her thoughts. Not that there's really much to read, even if he could get in there.

If he did get inside, he would most likely change his thoughts of Bella

RESEARCH A LITTLE BETTER, MEYER!!

This reminds me of something my friends and I were discussing. (not sure if this has been brought up before) But after the whole Edward fights James scene, I believe Meyer wrote that Bella had broken/fractured ribs (or was that a different scene?) and then Edward picks her up?! Who the hell picks up a person with broken ribs?!?! you might as well just shoot the person while telling them your helping them XD.
Meyer really needs to research her anatomy and bone structure....or just spend a week in a hospital.

Yeah, I've read anime fanfics where the author describes all this surgical stuff in glorious gory detail. Again, it seems to me like Meyer is worse than a fanfic writer... Or maybe it's just that Edward's character's just plain dumb.

Actually, I think you're referring to the birth scene in Breaking Dawn, where the baby's strength breaks a few of Bella's ribs... and she just smiles and says it hurts a little. The hell? Of course, later in the same scene she's capable of speaking clearly while her lungs are filled with blood...

The whole birth scene was so absurdly ridiculous that I didn't even notice the bit about her reaction to the broken ribs.

Yes, this all happens while she's still human. For all accounts she should have suffocated to death because of the blood in her lungs and her broken spine.

If I remember correctly, from the birth scene alone Bella:

- Broke her ribs
- Broke her spine
- Had internal bleeding, judging from the blood filling her lungs
- Had her uterus bitten open by Edward's teeth to perform a C-section for the baby

How she survived long enough for the venom to be injected into her is beyond me.

that's my favourite part in the entire series. it has so much wtf and hilarious stamped all over it. nothing like true love when the guy will perform a c-section for ya, huh?

jacob imprinting her kid was also a favourite.

Lol, and people say this book gives a bad message. That scene alone will make teenagers reconsider having unprotetced sex.

I guess SMeyers was trying to show just why Bella getting pregnant as a human with a half vampire baby was as bad as she made it out to be in the first three books, but come on. The woman refused to write a decent fight scene and fades to black on the sex scene, then makes the birth scene gory as hell? Where's the logic behind that?

Idk, maybe she's trying to convey the message that fighting is bad and shouldn't be done, and that giving birth is painful? Does she even have kids?

She does. In fact the birth of her first son is what made her become an author. Apparently hadn't even even written a short story before.

My guess is she isn't skilled enough of a writer to pen a good combat scene, she's too squeamish to describe the sex scene...

(though honestly I don't blame her; writing sex scenes without them coming out like goofy fanfic lemons or IKEA Erotica is very hard)

... who knows?
