Actually he was not because you can't be offside from goal kick, or opponent player back-pass.
I still think England still have better chance, assume Italy win next match. They can defeat Costa Rica, Italy defeat Uruguay, and they will be above Uruguay on GD. Atm, England is -2, And Uruguay is -1. In fact if Costa Rica win today by 1 goal, Uruguay will have to win against Italy by 2 goals to go through. The opener lost of 3-1put them in real difficult position

if italy beats costa rica, then italy and Uruguay only need a tie in the last game for both of them to go through, assuming England beats costa rica
italy and uruguay will be doing a lot of scoreboard watching in the last game

In short, no one will be out this round yet regardless Italy results. And in fact the current chance is:
Costa Rica > England > Uruguay. England only disadvantage is they have to depend on Italy while the other two can make their own miracle

I feel like everyone is diminishing Costa Rica, I seriously believe that Costa Rica can defeat both Italy and England if they play like they played against Uruguay, and apparently, I'm the only one who believes that

In face if Costa Rica draw with Italy, England still out.

Luis Suarez OP. XP
Well I can't say I'm that surprised to be honest but that doesn't stop it from being any less depressing. England frankly didn't deserve to win with such a sloppy performance (and a pathetic inability to counter Suarez even when we know he's the biggest threat well in advance) so we have nothing to complain about either. Well done to Uruguay: the better team won. Quote:

In fact, if Costa Rica manages to beat Italy by 3 gols, all that Uruguay would need is to tie. |

My goodness, the 2:1 for Uruguay was SO utterly unnecessary. Gerrard, for the love of god...
Keeping my fingers crossed for Japan! EDIT: The penetration power of Japan leaves quite a bit to be desired... Last edited by Mentar; 2014-06-19 at 18:14. |
