I forcibly ejected my little brother from my room so that I could get dressed, and five minutes later was downstairs... only to be accosted by my father, who started saying something along the lines of how I'm being blamed for all the milk having suddenly vanished from the fridge.

What a beautiful morning.

Yes, I know that milk doesn't actually help that much with breast growth, thank you very much. No, I really don't want to be discussing this, and why is that a reason why you suspect me? It's not like I go out of my way to... no, no, not discussing this, please, I just want to eat and go to school. Also, it was that grinning idiot over there's fault. Don't blame me for things like this.


My father never eats breakfast with us. He always says that 'breakfast is for the weak', and takes his coffee into the living room, and so I'm forced to eat alone with my little brother.

Because of this, breakfast tends to be quite an ordeal. Today was no different.

Otouto: Hey, Kyon-chan!

Quit talking so loud, I'm right next to you. And would it hurt to call me “Big Sister” for once?

Otouto: Those big brothers you brought over on Sunday... how many of them are you dating again?

I hear my father splutter loudly in the other room, as my face begins to redden.

Kyonko: None! None of them at all! They're just people in my club! I keep telling you this! You never listen!

Otouto: Hahaha, Kyon-chan's blushing!

Son of a... And that was about the point my father came barreling into the room and started loudly threatening to remove my clubmates' heads from the rest of their bodies.

I keep telling you, I'm not dating anybody! There is nowhere in the world less romantic than that clubroom! Besides, I'm not even the only female member! If there's anyone who should be worried, it's her father.

...He's going off on a tangent again...

Kyonko: Excuse me, I just remembered I have, um, paperwork to file for the brigade.

Grabbing some toast, I made a mad dash for the door before my father noticed mid-rant that I was gone.

Wonderful. Now I'm going to school hungry and I have to deal with this when I get home tonight.

...Can I please sleep somewhere else?

Thanks a lot, little brother.

Now you see why Kyonko is so cynical.

Ohmigod! I love it, well done! Hmmm, it's good that I felt the urge to continue writing Setsubun. There's always so much fun stuff to see here.

Oh, drat.

"Good afternoon, princess," the boy in the lead said, smiling impishly as he sketched a bow. "We have come to kidnap you for the afternoon."

Tachibana, what kind of nonsense are you spouting? Then again, I remember you actually did abduct Asahina-san, so ... Slowly, I started to simultaneously back up and swing my schoolbag back and forth. If they tried anything, I could throw --

There was a very brief blurring sensation. I can't describe it that well. And while Suou, tool of the Sky Canopy Domain, had suddenly disappeared from his previous position by the bicycle stand, there was a shadow falling over me. I started with shock and turned. Sure enough, there he was, lightless, lifeless eyes looking either at me or something behind me.

The creepy thing was that I hadn't felt his presence at all, only that shadow and his disappearance had alerted me to the fact he might have changed position to stand behind me.

I did, however, feel the presence of that sneering bitch Fujiwara, an instant before her hand closed on my wrist. Hey, get off!

"You," she informed me arrogantly, "are coming with us."

I opened my mouth to scream -- and an eerie, numb sensation traveled up my arm to my head in a flash. It was all I could do just to stand up. What's going on?

"Fujiwara-san."

Tachibana put his hand on Fujiwara's, and she released me with an angry hiss. The numb sensation vanished as quickly as it had come, and I started to backpedal -- only to walk into Suou, who had moved not an inch.

"Please," Tachibana said, raising both hands in a sign of surrender. "I was joking, we have no intention of abducting you ... princess." Again with that smile, as if he were a little boy pulling a harmless prank. I started to shuffle sideways -- and Suou's hands closed on my shoulders. Hey, I said get off!

"Suou-san," Tachibana pleaded. "Please. I am sure we can do this without having to ... ah ... strong-arm our friend."

Who's your friend? But Suou did let me go. Until I tried to shuffle sideways again. What is this, have you suddenly grown addicted to randomly grabbing schoolgirls? Let me go!

"Just let me," Fujiwara snapped. "We are wasting precious time here!"

"No, no," Tachibana insisted. "We agreed I would be the one to lead this discussion. Suou-san, please release her."

I was released, and scuttled a goodly distance away from the trio before I faced them again.

"What do you want?" I asked tersely. Seriously, I have enough worries right now without you three appearing and making my life even more difficult.

Tachibana's face, which had grown mildly distressed during recent moments, again adopted that playful expression. "Why, to invite you, of course," he said.

He made the kind of gesture usually reserved for those girls in sparkly dresses who work on game shows, indicating the nearby road. A black limousine was just now driving up, its engine purring softly.

Nice timing. More than a little disconcerting. Since when do you guys have the cash to rent a limo, though?

"If you will please join us," Tachibana went on, "there is a rather nice tea and cake shop where we would like to treat you to an afternoon's divertissement. And also, where we should like to have a quiet word with you about a matter of mutual interest."

You talk all fancy, but this still sounds like a cheap trap.

"I freely admit that it must appear thus to you, after recent events," Tachibana said.

Fujiwara sniffed derisively, crossed her arms and looked away from me. She was muttering something I couldn't quite hear, but I could probably guess what she was saying, anyway.

"Nevertheless, our intentions are actually strictly honourable," Tachibana went on. "You have my solemn word that if you join us, we will have some refreshment, we will talk, and regardless your decision, you shall be safely returned to this spot before another hour has gone out."

Nice offer, but I'm already on my way home. And I don't like you that much right now.

"Of course," Tachibana continued smoothly, that smile playing around the corners of his mouth, "I would be delighted to have the three of us accompany you to your home and talk there."

I think my heart stopped.

"More to the point," Fujiwara stated bluntly, "it is inevitable that you will accompany us for this discussion. It is a fixed instant in time. And you do not have the means to prevent it from coming about."

Again, Suou's hands closed on my shoulders. You moved without my noticing again? Tachibana and Fujiwara were already approaching, and someone inside the limo caused the door to swing open.

"Please accompany us," Tachibana said. "You may find it will serve your best interests to hear us out. Or would you rather face those predatory figments of Suzumiya Haruki's overwrought imagination again without all the information and help we are prepared to offer you at this time?"

Fujiwara is Anti-Itsuko, but as a time traveler. Tachibana is Anti-Mitsuuru, but an Esper.

The originals are like this too. Fujiwara (M) is clearly Evil Itsuki.

HAHA! That's hilarious! The Anti SOS is here to kidnap Kyonko, take her to a cake shop and bother her. How insidious! Though since Sou is here, wouldn't this have meant she's already met Sasaki-Kun?

hmmmmmm, this brings up an interesting question. What if during the intrigues arc the Anti SOS decide to kidnap Kyonko instead of Mitsuuru? l suppose Haruki will react more crazily if he thinks Kyonko has been kidnapped (...by someone other than himself).

Won't work. It has to be Mitsuuru, simply because of the fact that there has to be two of 'em running around to confuse the Anti-SOS into grabbing the wrong one.

Besides, I'm pretty sure Haruki would realize he's being called by someone who's supposed to be standing right next to him.

The bright side of today's Endless Eight episode: Koizumi was absolutely fabulous. And Kyon had more physical contact with him than the rest of the series combined.

Not looking forward to Mitsuru's pathetic display though.
