Actually in this regard I don't agree. I admit the CGI detracts from it bug take a look at the manga. The meshing of the harem elements, comedy, and seriousness is very prominent and done very well. The harem aspect especially are actually very brief and fun and then the focus switches back to the serious aspects. It adds a bit of "spicyness"(?) to it. Plus you never know when the people during the fun moments are going to die. So removing it all together would actually make it odd. I mean seriously, the faces in the manga

While I haven't read much of his work (I'm somewhat familiar with Blame!), I don't think Nihei is really that skilled with romantic harem scenes. I have nothing against incorporating light-hearted moments to offset the angst and terror, but in SnK the clumsy harem moments can be grating. I supposed there's a charm in that if you like that sort of thing anyway.

Admittedly Izana with her non-binary identity crisis is quite cute. But how many female rivals does the show need to make 'em feel inadequate?

Yeah, I love Sidonia, but Nagate is definitely the weakest part of it to me. Such a bland character.

On the other hand, I still root for Izana to win his affections just because I love her/his character so much.

The series does not appear to be licensed. The fansub group that has been doing a wonderful job since the first series will most likely be late due to the availability of their translator. It might be 2 weeks before there will be a fansub version, unless some other group picks it up or another translator offers to help.

Looks like Knights of Sidonia will be returning to Netflix for its second season as Head of International Business Development and Producer for animators Polygon Pictures, Jack Liang, has posted a teaser photo to Twitter with a #netflix tag.

Knights of Sidonia returns to Japanese TV's Animeism block in Spring 2015 for Battle for Planet Nine. This second season is packaged with the promise of a bit of the original sci-fi manga author Tsutomu Nihei's earlier cyber-horror series Blame!, set to appear as a show-within-a-show in the eighth episode.

Still as good as ever.

The sound effects (Iwanamiiiii, Punchline is great in terms of this as well), the VA works, the national anthem/army marching-ish OP, everything's just as much as an audio treat as the first series; almost felt like the series has never left. Considering I have left the manga behind quite a bit ago, I can totally experience the series fresh again despite the fragmented memory.

Spoiler for Episode 1:

The one thing I remember very distinctively is Kunato for what he did to Hoshijiro, glad he got his comeuppance so quickly. NEVER FORGIVE, NEVER FORGET.

OMG I just saw episode 1 of season 2 I'm so scared I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight ...literally I hope I can watch the season, or I may have to wait and see it all at once to curb the nightmares
