The movie was already confirmed for Philippine screening, but we still don't have a premier date despite the fact that the movie will be airing in Japan on July 19.

I should mention that anyone interested in avoiding spoilers should also steer clear of Anime News Network, where they have a review of the film already. I'm not sure if I should be impressed or disgusted they're that determined to be first to write about it.

I got the book so I'll be able to get the whole plot if I wanted but I'll most likely not have the time to do so until the film airs in my area 2 months later anyway

With all the hype that this and Kimi no Na Wa have been bringing Shinkai (heck, I suppose we can include Garden of Words and maybe 5cm as well as part of the hype), plus the fact that I'm currently living in Japan... well, I kinda want to see it. On the other hand, any studio other than Ghibli, plus it feels like Japan as a whole, seem to love their anti-Disney, anti- happy ending stories. Which is why it's frustrating that although I could go see it... after hearing about some of the more recent releases here (Pancreas, for starters), plus the majority of Shinkai's works.. well, it would be a double-whammy: not only is my Japanese not nearly strong enough, but to then also watch a movie with a sad ending... yeah, I can't bring myself to commit until someone leaks the ending, and then i can decide if it's worth going.

And I still wish that I could find and English summary for the Bunny Girl Sempai movie, as it also deals with one of the most dramatic plotlines of that series.

Same here. I tend to take plots hard sometimes for some reason, always have. Especially when romances don't work out (and even more so when it doesn't make sense). Part of the reason I decided not to watch certain Shinkai works after reading about them online. I really want to know before I commit myself to it (though it'll be a while before it gets to my neck of the woods). That said, it doesn't take much to satisfy me. As long as the main hero and heroine are both still alive, still harbor feelings for one another, and have some amount of hope for the future, I'm fine. Necessity could have temporarily separated them, they could have doubts to whether they'll be able to make it last, but as long as it ends with an indication that they may head in that direction I'm good. I didn't see any ending spoilers on that ANN review BTW.

That's probably the route I'll take for things, assuming there's a year-long wait until the BDs come out. For now, the catalogue for my local bookstore doesn't carry it, so I'll have to wait there, as well.
