Some things never change.

Even though he's a strong af, he still needs to play by the rules so he can't pull out a strong summon right off the bat using the standard style. Everyone needs to start from the basic ones no matter how strong they are. Not that he will need anything else against normal people. He later brute forces his way through Azalea in their second encounter. Kyousuke's strength lies in both wits and having true skills bounded by the system, not just being a rule breaker.

Spoiler for Vol 5 C1P3-7:

A lot of talks about what's family or how to recognize family, which I guess was inevitable considering the theme of the novel. Js06 changes the spelling for Beyondetta, it's now Biondetta. I'm just going to call her Detta like she asks Kyousuke, it's easier that way.

We see Detta, Kyoumi and Kyousuke playing around, talking about the rankings of the family in the summoning ceremony, and how the top 3 hog the 3 available vessels and the top 3 spots. Those three are Alberto (Hatter), Shizuku (Jabberwock) and Claudia (Humpty Dumpty). Right after them we have Cain (Dodo). As they talk about this there's a violent rumbling. The three run to the mock battle arena to find out that Shizuku lost to Claudia, who wasn't content with winning, so she ordered the catatonic Shizuku to get up and fight again and again to keep her own Chain going, until she reached the Unexplored-class, though not the Queen like she wanted to. She threatens Kyousuke and the others, but Alberto shows up to save them. Claudia starts with a nice trick: using polarizing smoke so that her opponent can't see the Petals (while she can due to her visor), but Alberto makes short work of her. As we see here and in a folowing scene where he trains against like 20 people while being mostly deprived of his senses, Alberto takes Kyousuke's predicting skills to a whole new level. He repeats his challenge to Kyousuke, as even Jabberwock and Humpty are not enough to satisfy him in battle. Kyousuke accepts when Alberto points out he saved them and are indebted to him. Afterwards Kyousuke goes to the lab of Alberto's helper, bypassing all locks,and finds an interesting microfilm.

The Shiroyama siblings are certainly an interesting group. I wonder how many of the ones introduced so far are alive in the present, as we know half of the siblings died in the Secret War. I think Kyoumi might have a few death flags, she's in Kyousuke and Detta's group, being friendly to them since the beginning, and she's a White Queen cosplayer. The White Queen might take offense to her being near Kyousuke.

Spoiler for Vol 5 C1 & C2P1-6:

We see Masami having a discussion with one of the leaders of the project. Just like with the Pandemonium, Masami doesn't really care about the project and is planning to save the kids when it fails. The guy he's talking to really has a Kamachi motivation. We return to Kyousuke, who suddenly hears by radio that Detta is fighting the Hatter to try to protect him. Hatter has already reached the Unexplored-class and is aiming for the White Queen. Kyousuke has no available vessel, and the arena is too far for him to reach it in time anyways. So he does the only thing he can think of and pulls out the Sewn Realm summoning so that the Hatter can't summon the Queen. Jeez, I knew that even discarding other stuff we've seen that Kyousuke was a genius just for pulling that kind of technique, but he did it with suboptimal equipment and in a rush? Good god the Shiroyama siblings are crazy.

Anyway, the White Queen is surprisingly already attached to Kyousuke, calling him brother. The bonus part of the chapter is the pool scene of the color illustrations. We get some fun parts such as Detta's inability to swim or Kyousuke comparing Kyoumi and Detta's bodies, plus some serious tidbits such as Detta being able to hold her breath for 15 minutes and Kyoumi noticing Kyousuke knows a military swimming style to remind us that these are not normal kids. It's true that we don't know Kyousuke's past prior to the fifteen siblings plan. He's already a experienced summoner, and he did seem to have some issues adjusting to talking to others earlier in the volume. Maybe he was some kind of child summoner soldier?

For chapter 2 we skip to several days after the summoning of the White Queen. We meet the probably youngest of the Shiroyama siblings, the Duchess. She and Humpty talk with Kyousuke about the Queen, who's basically behaving like a small child and only talks to Kyousuke. Kyousuke goes to help her get some cookies, and we get the flashback scene of volume 3 where Kyousuke and the Queen made their promise, except now we can see that Kyousuke was doing this as part of his mission. We have a scene with the leaders of the factions talking about Kyousuke's kindness ruining the plan and what not, with Government and Illegal's leaders having opposite opinions.

Detta has her complete outfit, however, we can see she's already being distorted when she talks about making a contract to help with someone's emotional fight, like revenge, and being insane enough to be Kyousuke's big sister. Then we see that Kyoumi and Alberto aren't doing so good, Alberto is basically a husk of the proud guy we saw last chapter and the cheerful Kyoumi is gone, and she even warns Kyousuke and Detta about trusting her after saving them from Alberto. Yeah, we didn't even need to see the Relective Graph, the project is going bad, even if the siblings no longer compete in summoning battles.

A nice moment between Detta and Kyousuke as she shows him a way outside the garden, which is unfortunately ruined by her revealing that she hates Kyousuke since she realizes how strong he is and how he holds back to their level. Like Kyoumi she doesn't like feeling like this towards a person she considers family, so she asks Kyousuke to kill her if she tries anything suspicious. They are interrupted by one of the summoners of the "killing White Queen" team, who's revealed to be Claude Magentarain, the guy from Azalea's flashback in vol 1. He apparently left Government and joined Freedom. Seems like a nice guy so far. The White Queen and Kyousuke talk about his Guide Rabbit role and Alice and Wonderland. Obviously, the queen claims she's Alice, since she fell from her world into the human world. Then she comes up with what'll become Kyousuke's summoner nickname out of a desire to always be with him. Unfortunately, the people in charge of the project are now coming up with Operation March Hare, a way to control the queen. This is going to end badly. At least we get another cute moment with the siblings, Masami and one of the vessels eating a cake together.

Another month timeskip, and the distortion inside the garden continues, with Detta apparently making surprise attacks on others and Kyoumi gathering some sort of cult. Even Kyousuke is at his limits, trying to reassure himself everything is going to be alright. He's torn between his mission of helping kill the White Queen and how she's distorting the other kids versus the fact that she has repeatedly promised him that she won't hurt anybody and she's not doing this on purpose. Thankfully Masami is there to lift Kyousuke's spirits, convincing him that not everyone in the project is an asshole and that others might be aiming for a way to not kill the White Queen. She also mentions that the heir of the Toy Dream company is one of the summoners in the project. The conversation makes Kyousuke swear that he's going to save everyone (and also it's the moment when he buys his house boat). Shame we know this is going to end in a major catastrophe.

I like the eyepacth guy with the eagle, which might be his vessel? Would be cool, we already know animals can be vessels going by Aika's liger. Going by the new summoner with the White Queen in the third to last illustration, Azalea is likely not the final boss of the volume. There's probably something going on with Aika given that she seems to get one of the last illustrations just for her. That last illustration, though.

Akuro ruined everything, and Kyousuke's attempts to fix this only make things worse, and he's forced to suffer as he sees everyone seemingly sacrifice themselves to protect him: Masami and the heir of the Toy Dream company, Detta, Claude and the researchers and summoners of the Garden, even the three summoner leaders try to fight the White Queen despite being hopelessly outmatched. In the end, neither Kyousuke or the WHite Queen could understand the other, and this incident is what creates the Kyousuke we see in the present and his guilt + obsession with saving others. Also, those seeds in Masami's desk turned out to be foreshadowing, as her vessel is a squirrel. Nice to see another animal vessel.

The thing she says at the end sounds similar to what one of the phony White Queens said to one of those posers faking to be Kyosuke, plus we were never given any details on if the one remaining actually was his White Queen that he summoned. Also I'm wondering then who is the White Queen that keeps appearing to Kyosuke in the main story belongs too.

LazyHunter Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2011 Location: Spain	Spoiler for Vol 5 Ending + Epilogue: Turns out Kyousuke was cheking the past alongside the reader thanks to the help of the third member of the Three, who actually was the leader of Freedom. This time he could see parts he was not there for before, so he heard the White Queen identify herself as Mary, confirming his suspicions. The one who survived was the one he made a promise with, who chose to break it to save him. Deciding to finally move againts her, he saves Biondetta from being carried away to the Colorful Museum that had been mentioned in the flashback and hires her. He's trying the "help me with my revenge" angle like I said, let's see if that's enough for Detta to not turn on him. We also see Azalea, who had become part of Colorful Museum, be rescued by another summoner, The Saint, who turns out to be another fanatic of the White Queen and part of another group who wants to defend her from Kyousuke. Stage is set for the next volume.

Still, Kyousuke has his hands full with her. Anyway, Kyousuke and Detta are after a special key and chest pair that will lead them to the Founder's Gallery. They break into a museum to get the key, but the pro-White Queen group known as Bridesmaid also breaks in and gets the chest. Looks like Detta is not Kyousuke's vessel, and she's using the white snake of the cover, which she got from Colorful Museum's collection, as her vessel.
