I feel very sad that the 9x pages forums is gone.. but I welcome everyone back!! and Merry Christmas!

Yep! It's always the strong, strange feeling after finishing Elfen Lied. It's all mixed and that's why I like it!

Oh and I previously said I lend it to my English teacher. I am still waiting for her comments! hehe!

yes! Elfen Lied is still my favourite anime! BEST OF THE BEST!

I know! I just hope she likes it though~ because some of my friends said this series isn't that good, for them... ^_^

I love sad stories, because I think they are more serious~ I like serious plot and well planned ones with deep feeling and meanings.

Okay, so I finished watching the complete Elfen Lied series. However, a couple of things still bother me at this point after seeing the ending:

What happened to Lucy/Nyuu? Did she die or did she somehow survive?

And who's shadow was it that was right by the door?

Jshaggy~ it's up to you to decide~ in my case, I am a Lucy die-hard fan, so.. I think it's Lucy or Nyu~ (They are in the same body anyways~)

erm, about what happened to Lucy...

I thought her last horn is shot off, and somehow escaped from the SWAT team and finally back to Kouta's place.

Here is my take on the ending:

I believe that Lucy is the still alive and is the shadow behind the door. This may be because I'm a die-hard Lucy fan as well, but I believe that the evidence that she is alive far outweights the evidence saying that she died. (My bias is included of course )

• The clock symbolizes many things in the ending, one of them leads me to belive that Lucy is still alive. My interpretation of having the clock start to tick shows that Lucy/Nyuu was still alive and was the shadow behind the door. Since the clock was associated with Lucy/Nyuu (who had been trying to repair it during the series), having it start could be signifying a new start to Lucy's/Nyuu's life. And after we see the clock start it goes to a screen of Kouta and the person behind the door, with the emphasis being placed upon the person behind the door (thats how I look at that scene).
  
  
• We also get a shot of the music box in the ending with the shell that Nyuu got for Kouta in it. Thus relating the ending sequence even more to Lucy/Nyuu.
  
  
• Even though Kouta didn't forgive Lucy/Nyuu he told her that he loved her. Now that she finally received the love and compassion that she was so longed for from Kouta, why would she throw it away? Killing herself wouldn't bring Kouta to forgive her nor would it atone for all the people she killed, or at least that's my opinion.Lucy/Nyuu was also very friendly with Wanta, Mayu's dog. During the ending there are a couple shots of the dog looking rather excited, hes wagging his tail and has his rope all the way stretched out trying to go over to the door. Since Lucy/Nyuu and the dog spent a lot of time together the do could tell that the person behind the door was Lucy/Nyuu, even though it couldn't actually see who it was. (I own a dog as well and he can tell when I'm coming home and acts in a very similar way to how Wanta acted)
  
  
• If you believe that Lucy/Nyuu was still alive at the end and is the person behind the door the question remains of who it is, Lucy or Nyuu? My opinion is that the person behind the door is Lucy with the personality and traits of both her and Nyuu. I believe this because during the ending sequence we see that the music box stop and it is followed by the start of the clock. I see the music box as an object that is being associated with Lucy and her split personalities. By showing it stopping it can be interpreted as an end to her split personalities. The clock starting to work can also be shows as the personalities of Lucy merging back together. Since throughout the series the clock has been seen as broken, just as how Lucy can be seen as "broken" with here split personalities. The clock starting and being fixed shows that Lucy was now "fixed" and had stopped having the split personalities.

Some people may see the ending as frustrating and a cliffhanger, but I find it to be very satisfying to this remarkable anime. The ending leaves it up to the viewer to interpretation it and that is what I love about its, and in my opinion it makes this anime just that much better that it already is. Of course all this is just my biased opinion on the ending, but its just like how Terransheep put it JShaggy, "It's up to you to decide."

Ok, I think they are trying to make anime and manga different, so .... I think, if you are seeking for anime version's ending, you are better off your imagination, because they present us that way.. If you are seeking for manga's ending, you can go ahead and read it, because from the beginning to end of anime, it is different compare to manga.

After watching this series id have to say it was pretty damned good. Lots of mixed emotions and story was kept intresting.
The ending was quite sad and was truthfully was one that would keep me wanting to know more than what is given in the anime.

I just finished this series. I liked the ending, since I haven't read the manga. I hope there will be a 2nd season. But it's already been over two years now or what, since the last episode aired?

Is it worth to watch this series?

I can't stand gore like this. I thougth I could kind of watch it if the plot is good. That's why I watched ep 1-4. But the gore really is a lot more than I can bare.

I am bored. Mai otome is the only series I am following now and the only series I watched was Mai hime before this but Mai otome is disappointing. Should I continue watching Elfen Lied?

No, you shouldn't continue watching. As wonderful as this series is, if you can't deal with the gore, you shouldn't be watching it. It is really good, but it has a few flaws and there isn't going to be something so mind-blowing that you would want to suffer for the sake of seeing it.

The level of gore will not get any less after episode 4.

Yea Really the Gore is outstandingly High however the story is quite great. But if I were you I would suck it up because you would miss out on a good story to not finish it. The gore really is one thing but the whole picture behind it is even greater.
