Whew, that was good fun. That was just an entertaining and enjoyable episode.
Just seeing the various characters fight and interact was enjoyable. Also a good introduction to Corona and Rio's abilities. Kind of an awesome magic style to actually create a golem like that .

Combat sequence well done, I thought. ^^
Liked the introduction to the new characters and their combat style (was quite surprised when Rio picked that golem up and threw it! ) and am anticipating next ep. Hopefully they do not drag things out too, too long! ^^

Ah that was fun, always enjoyable to watch them have a nice full out battle together. Rio and Corona got some time to show off their power while Einhart demonstrated once more she's still far beyond Vivo's level at this point. Einhart got a decent hit on Nanoha but only just got nuked back even harder for her troubles. The white devil hasn't lost her touch. Teana has gotten pretty powerful too, she can bombard almost as well as Nanoha. She can shoot faster, but Nanoha hits harder. A nice contrast.
They're both going to nuke the field with Starlight Breaker at the same time. Incoming Armageddon next week. |

The episode showed some nice growth. Erio did a great job holding his own against Fate and not letting her just take him down and move on. The same to be said about Teana who matched up against Nanoha quite well. She doesn't quite have the same cannon power that Nanoha has, but she's honed her skills well to have fast and hard hitting shots. To me it's nice to see the girl who saw herself as extremely normal turning into a shooter who can hold her own that well.
I think other than that, Rio and Corona were the most interesting to watch. It's a nice shift in the show to magic that is quite creative and interesting. Not like the cartridge and weapon types that we've seen mostly. Rio's fire and lightning magic is good and really she's a strong all rounder type. She has a ton of physical power, is fast, and can hit with flashy moves. Corona's golem creation magic is pretty cool as well. Can kind of create her own mech and have it fight. It leaves her with the standard summoner's weak point of being a bit soft, but with a powerful golem that's almost not an issue.

Really, inasmuch as I could be said to have a favorite at all among the young children in Vivid, Rio would probably be it. Not my favorite overall (that's why I had to specify "young children"), and I don't enjoy trying to pick favorites among these adorable kids, but I really like her a bunch. @Nachtwandler: The mods may disagree on your interpretation of what is and isn't a spoiler, since those terms are still specific details from future events. You could say something like "she'll have some suprises to show you during the tournament" or something like that and probably get away with it, but the delete-hammer here tends to be on a hair-trigger in regards to possible spoilers.

I think both Rio and Corona are interesting new characters to add to the series. Corona's magic type wise is similar to summoning magic, but also different in key ways. After all she's not really summoning anything, but rather creating using that crystal as a base and her terrain as the materials. An interesting kind of glass cannon in a way. Has to fight on the front lines to properly control her golem, but leaves herself at risk in the process. So the more she can improve her own defensive ability through training the harder it will be to deal with her since you have to get past that golem and actually beat Corona.
Rio is just a tank . I agree, we really haven't seen anyone quite that monstrously powerful. Though I suppose you could refer to Vita depending on whether Eisen gets extremely heavy when she turns it into that giant mode. Being able to swing something like that around could be pretty close to Rio's golem tossing . In the end Rio's magic is still pretty cool. Fast, strong, and really who can complain about magic that combines fire and lightning? That just on a personal level seems pretty cool.

To late for it cause every high-level magician in Nanoha is equal to giant mecha him or herself. Author even made a lot of homages to famous mecha with characters. In Corona's case it will be Mazinger.

Nice fight, but it was obvious Nanoha and Fate were just playing around. Specially Fate who was using Bardiche in its most basic form the whole time. At least Nanoha was forced by Einhart to uses a bit of power.
Too bad Einhart and Fate are on the same team.

It was good to see the stars of StrikerS in action again, and it was also very good to see Rio and Corona in action.
I like what they've done with Rio and Corona. They get a bit away from the highly tech-y feel that the Nanoha franchise has developed, and get back to something a bit more truly magical feeling to me. I like both Rio and Corona, but I would say I have a slight preference for Rio between the two. I like how she wields both fire and thunder magic, and is also very strong in hand-to-hand combat in general. I also like how Rio's magical girl outfit is distinctive while not feeling too different from the rest of the cast.

Finally caught back up to Vivid's current episode and I have to say, the mock battle turned out as great as I was hoping. I absolutely loved it. It rubbed me in all of the right ways.
I have to say that I am loving Vivid so far. Considering the one thing I was looking forward to when this series was announced has been more than satisfactory, I am so far very happy with how the series has been going.
