ok caught up with epi 12 and 13...you know Im a dense person...I never thought for 1 min that the other things they were fighting also had people in them and that each seperate alternate earth was fighting "their" earth...wow that hit you in the stomach...well it did too me. Dung Beetle was awesome in 13 are normal XD I just hate that thing I did like him yelling at Maki to take it seriously when she chked in on her parents.

Maki is a funny and cute tomboy. She's loyal to her friends and is not afraid to voice her opinions, though it would be wise for her not to get her head boiling quickly.

While I enjoyed that she finally went postal on Ushiro for Kana's sake, she's misjudging the bigger picture. Kana has her reasons why she's coping with Ushiro's abuse, and it has to do with her request she made to the woman officer.

Anyways, Maki can considered herself to be a blessed child.

Even she was adopted, her foster parents never thought of her as a foreigner in their inner family. As they told her, she is their first child and a blessed one to encourage them both to conceive their second child.

Maki's future tragedy stems from her fear that she won't be able to make it in time to see the birth of her little brother and make another happy memories of gathering the four of them- she, her parents, and her little brother together for one special moment frozen in time.

I must say that Maki's father should consider himself lucky. Just how many men out there in real life can proclaim their otaku -ness before their family, and they would not mind about it.

But not all was fun and games.

The government higher-ups were shaken that information about the robots, Zearth, and the children was leaked onto the public, plus the potential threat that America and China are sticking their noses regarding the data sampled from the battes.

Episode 13 had like the most chilling and cruel plot twist ever. Of course, it was strongly hinted there were people in the enemy mechas but this pruning of universes with home and away games was some damned depressing stuff. I have to think the characters take it a bit too well, considering the circumstances, if that was me, I would probably have either killed myself by now or get drunk or high, 13 years or no 13 years old. This episode really hit hard.

On a bit more positive note, the seiyuu of Dung Beetle really plays him with relish, his character is certainly someone loves to hate.

Spoiler for For Maki:

I am glad and touched for Maki. She was able to see her little brother after all, and even felt him, holding him around her arms.

She looked like a true mother with her little bro on her arms, while rocking on the chair. That scene alone made my heart to melt.

And the whole space sequence as Zearth was drifting throughout the emptiness felt GAINAX- esque to me.

Ok. So basically these battles are to single out those...

parallel universes that have expanded too much, as Koemushii kindly illustrated.

This is like Existence of the Fittest on a universal scale.

Enough to drive the children to the near lost of their edge.

Well, this is not surprising to me the existence of the parallel universes, because I knew there was something wrong with the robot battles not at the end of the Chizuru arc when Moji pointed out the number of lights on the robot's cockpit, but on the third fight when Kodama (the blond, glasses kid) was chosen as the pilot.
On that fight the children remarked that the other robot was careful as not to step into the houses so that they would not get damaged.

Right then I got an epiphany that the other robots might be piloted by humans as well. This was cemented at the end of the Chizuru arc, and totally revealed shockingly with Maki's victory.

Basically, there are as well away games when and where the children inside Zearth are going to be teleported into their rival's Earth, and yep, Koemushii warned that even in "Away" battles all of the rules apply; the whole your-Earth-is-going-to-be-erased-if-you-lose is not excluded.

Other interesting points that this episode reveals are likely that Seki, or more specifically the professor to whom he reports might or not had leaked the information to the editorial, which publish the magazine.

Things are turning interesting, because it looks like the government is now actively pursuing the remaining children. Wondering if this as consequence that the professor leaked the info to the ministry once retrieving the results from Seki's bionic arm.

There's as well the possibility that she's working on her own agenda.

I like indeed the new ending. Very beautiful. Nice to see Kokopelli return even if it was on the ending sequence.

Well I just got done watching ep 17 of Bokurano and....

Spoiler for Something caught my interest:

Did anyone notice how Ushiro seems to be apart of Machi and DB's convo alot? They are always saying something about him and in the few episodes Machi has been to Jun's house a lot, like in ep 16 with Kirie, etc.... I just found that might be a foreshadow to something like with the Kanji and Aiko relationship, it was obvious they had an interest in each other due to spoiler at the ED of them looking at each other while holding hands (with the other kids of course) and the few episodes where she would say something to Kanji and he would chase after her :P

Anyways at the end of the episode Kanji's little vision seemed interesting to me, my brother thinks it's Kanji in the future and that it was supposed to show him not having Aiko next to him and I thought it might be the place where all the kids currently is.... or perhaps it's the past pilots living somewhere else and it shows how happy they are? I might sound far fetched but oh well, this episode was good eye candy for the romantics :P

P.S: DB and Machi's convo at her house he said something "Komo" and she said "stop oni-chan" I think, maybe there is redeeming points for Machi at the end of the anime do you think?

Wow, it has been such a long while since I last visited this forum. With real life owning the hell out of me, I missed almost 1 month of Bokurano. I decided to skip past 14 and 15 for reviews, and go on for Episode 16 summary + screenshots.

I hope that the summary will help a little in understanding the episode and sorry for those who have been waiting for my summaries. Episode 17's summary and screenshots will be out perhaps two or three days later, so hope that everyone who needs it can be a little patient. Cheers!

Kanji believes they're some sort of Ruler, and he believes that Koemushi is just their "dog", making him do their work. Not sure how he would come to that conlusion, but however he did, it DID set off Koemushi.

That is a weird conclusion Kanji came up with and I wonder why DB didn't make him pilot next (as he originally was going to) instead of Tomo? Maybe DB has a soft spot for anyone that challenges him ^^

Komo's dad gets assassinated. Tanaka gets assassinated while trying to find out if he's OK by the same people who killed Komo's dad, who are probably part of the government who tried to get him to shut up about telling the truth about Zearth. Komo of course wins the battle and dies after lasering the enemy to death. Unfortunately, now they're down another pilot, so Dung Beetle says at the end of the episode that it looks like he's going to have to go with Kana now as the next pilot. Whether this is also a feint like in the previous ep, dunno yet.

Been a long time since i was in here. So i caught up to episode 13 and awaiting the future releases. I like the series not love like its interesting but damn i know its for the good of mankind and all that but its still depressing to watch these kids die one after another. I knew what the series was about before i started watching but its still hard. I dont expect a happy go lucky ending never did from the start.


I find it funny that after each pilot dies you never hear anything else about them. YOu never hear about their parents searching for them or a police report or the remaining pilots being questioned about the disappearence of a child. Like Maki he parents just had a baby then poof she die you think that they would not notice their daughter was missing? maybe it was different in the manga. I just find it weird

I agree with you completely. The episodes make me so angry and where i get the manga it hasn't released any new chapters in forever! Honestly... anime has to stop screwing up Kitoh's beautiful work.

and to the girl above me... Kitoh does a good job of that in the manga. Especially after what happened to the girl who plays piano... (insert name). That manga-sode made me want to cry it was so beautiful, but the anime made her have a completely different story. Its just really disappointing.
