Help needed.

Hey, I'm a huge fan of sci fi and fantasy anime, but I can't seem to find anything good, know any good sources to find great sci fi or fantasy Animes?

Believe me when I say that I've watched all the classic pieces :P
I was wondering if there are any exceptionally great animes I should check out that have come out since 2007 (that was when I went searching for more last time)

Let's see...

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya first aired in 2006 so I don't know if you've seen it or not, but if you haven't I highly recommend you watch it. The sci-fi(in particular the time travel) is really well done. You should be able to pick out the shout outs to Legend of the Galactic Heroes, the Gundam series and Space Battleship Yamato in the "Day of the Sagittarius" episode. Also if you have seen the series, I recommend the movie that follows The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya(2010) if you haven't already seen it. Koizumi's diagrams on parallel dimensions is really good stuff.

Summer Wars(2009) is a all-around great film with good science fiction mixed in.

Make sure you watch the Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody episode from season 2 before watching the movie.

Also try Katanagatari and Madoka Magica.

Does that include Noein and Dennou Coil? How about Oh! Edo Rocket? (Yes, it's sci-fi despite being set in 1843.)

Level E is a pretty funny sci-fi comedy, though I thought it lagged in the middle.

In the fantasy department, how about Kemono no Sou-ja Erin? I also recommend the same author's Seirei no Moribito.

Seconding Katanagatari, Seirei no Moribito, and Madoka Magica.

Also, what the, no mention of this season's Steins;gate yet? It's so far been a great sci fi/mystery series dealing time travel, and it also has a good bit of witty comedy and dialogue between the characters, the only thing is to some the plot is moving slow[but I think it's fine it's a 26 episode series].

I'm going to second Tears to Tiara. Beware however that the first episode is rather uninspiring, but once Auron is on the scene, the character interactions are rather charming.

Would Eden of the East count as Sci-Fi? Nonetheless it would really help if you gave a list of what you've seen.

Did you import it from Japan, or is it licensed in Europe? Like you, I'd put it in my top-ten shows of all time, but we here in R1 have largely given up hope of ever seeing a release. I can't justify paying Japanese prices for a version without English subtitles, and I'm still hoping it may come out on Blu-ray someday.

Can I challenge whether you've actually watched ALL classics for both genres pre-2007? Without seeing a list of what you've watched, I can't verify whether you have. Because there's a lot and you may have missed some. Let's see if you have as I run off faves of mine.

Last Exile
PlanetES
Bounen no Xamdou
Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex

And to answer you SeijiSensei, Well, I bought it at a shop dedicated to anime/manga, sci fi and fantasy books so i think it is licenced here in europe or they sold me some kind of knock off, anyhow... I love them and they love me. I don't think they would sell me fansubs, either that or they have a good contract of if they sell any they give most to the fansubs group... I don't really know but I hope it's licensed..

Well I've never seen a Coil DVD outside of the original Japanese release, but I have seen bootlegs like this one and this one. If the copy you have has more than four or five episodes per disc, it's a bootleg.

If you haven't seen them yet, I strongly recommend:

Mugen no Ryvius (I know you asked anime after 2007 but it looks like you missed some great classic anyway. So just to be sure you didn't miss this piece of art...)
Eve no Jikan (I can't believe it wasn't mentioned yet.)

Also if you think you can enjoy something absolutely crazy and visionary, try Blame! and Ergo proxy (assuming you haven't seen them yet)

Sora no Otoshimono is a masterpiece IN MY OPINION. I find the story to be incredible and the way it is portrayed is not bad either. I believe it is definitely a must see.

Is there any extremely well done philosophical animes that have a tint of sci fi or fantasy in em?

Ergo Proxy is literally filled with philosophical quotations. But I frankly can't say that they are actually relevant to the story.

The best anime that can fit that description is Ghost in the Shell the movie, but you probably have seen that already.

2001 nights is a series of classic sci-fi short stories (and in my opinion a masterpiece), but good luck finding the OAV, you'd have more luck finding the manga.
