So that's the odd bit, if KMM's tactics are so bad, where did Miho learn what she learned? Something isn't jiving properly vis-a-vis KMM's performance and their historical record. Either the storytellers are making a convincing showing of KMM deserving to lose or there are other circumstances, ala "forced conscription" + "tons of new vehicles" involved. It'll be interesting how this all ends. That said, it's interesting seeing the Hetzer, it reminded me of infantry fieldcraft - "Grenade!" *scatter*

German heavy tanks always victim from Allied air power and the slow performance cant escape from concentrate artillery barrage so they cant engage at open area even they counter attack they always failed from airpower and artillery. They found out the best for heavy tank is defensive mode. The Allied tankers always fear engaging head-on at the congested areas. |

She's always been quite conscientious. Remember at first she was conscripted into the Senshado elective? She immediately goes to check the rusted out Panzer IV. She denies the commander's post but starts directing more and more anyway? Definitely not doing the minimum, this lady. Quote:
As for the vehicle swapout theory, you might remember Oarai's crews didn't even see tanks until quite recently. It was possible to train them up and is no excuse. Not to mention that they didn't seem to swap out that many tanks (1 Pz III became a Maus, and 4 Panthers were apparently translated into King Tigers (which is still a tank), 1 Ferdinand and 1 Jadgtiger), so it doesn't explain the general panic and incompetence and failure to use even the radio... Besides, the "they've been sucking for a long time" theory better explains how Maho almost managed to lose to primary-schoolers (and since KMM only gets worse away from Maho, it implies that Miho's primary school tank crew would have p3wned most of KMM middle school's Senshado crews - it also suggests the start of Miho as a great trainer, while Maho is much less so) Further, there was no reason to depict the Ch6 endscene the way they did if they want to make KMM look tough. OK, it is obvious Chi-Ha Tan school must use Japanese tanks, and WWII Japanese tanks were generally nothing to write home about. Still, they could have had some Type-1, Type-4, Type-5 and for fun maybe even a O-1 so they almost look like a challenge. But no, it is a bunch of Chi-Has and a "KO"-tank, who apparently decide to blitz KMM's line (thus implying the captain to be less than a tactical genius). The entire scene looks superficially to be a complete KMM truimph but on 2nd look shows how hollow the victory is. They are very systematic about this and at least in my view there is no reason not to accept their guidance. |

Anyways, the tally count in total right now is 22 tanks, if the billboard's correct. There should be 8 Panthers in all, 1 knocked out. (If it were 6, then the total count of 20 stands)

The visual end count is still 20 tanks.
15 in formation at the end, 3 taken out by Ooarai, and the 2 in town. I don't think we ever see more than 6 Panthers. Plus the rules we are given say 20 tanks max. for the Finals.

Since it was near the end of the episode, the idea that it was a trap was noticable. The problem is, with the number of tanks possible in the Finals, there can only be one other tank in the town other than the Panzer III. With the firepower Miho has with her, there isn't any single tank of that era that should be able to clean them up (though several that could snipe her flag tank), and only a few would be proof against the 88mm on the Tiger (P).
But they brought a Maus. The one tank Ooarai has can't deal with. Even the Jadgtiger and Tiger IIs could be dealt with from some angles at close range. The Maus? Aside from tracking it or forcing it to break itself or run out of fuel....there is nothing Miho's forces can do against that thing. If it was anything else but a Maus, Miho's seven tanks would be able to take care of it and the Panzer III. Thus there was no reason for caution on Miho's part. The Maus has to be a new addition. Not only would Miho have been thinking "where is the Maus" if they did, but Yukari would have seen one move before if anyone what operating the thing (she's the tank nut, so she watches the finals. She's never seen one move before). And a Maus would certainly stop any Pravda tanks. Even their IS-2 wouldn't go through that thing's armor. It is armored as thick as a pre-Great War Armored Cruiser, those would basically be battleship designed cruisers with armor as thick as their main armaments. Those usually being 8 inch guns. While a Maus has basically a 5 inch gun, its armor is much thicker than that.

Knowing what a Maus is, and what it means to be there, does not mean they knew Black Forest had one before the match. Though one assumes the audiance can see all the tanks on their screens unless the film and tech crews are being clever and the broadcast announcer is not doing a good job. One would think this sport would have at least interesting coverage (speaking of which, I wonder how close the TV cameras were when the audiance was watching Miho leap from tank to tank...and how the Hetzer crew were watching it when they were back preparing to mess with Maho's tanks over a mile away.
One might assume that the purchase of such a thing would be in the sports papers.
