I'm just going to be standing several feet away from this series, poking at it with a stick out of curiosity, until I know it's safe to come have a closer look...

They have a lot w experience in making shows about ""cute girls" in music club that do "cute things" and eat lots of sweets and not play any music". I don't expect anything good from this show (or rather from this studio).

Oh the studio for this is Kyoani. Suddenly, my expectations (and chance of watching) plummets. Also my previous statements stands, there has been an awful lot of "music" themed anime as of late yeh. Not necessarily a bad thing, but Kyoani doing one... nope.

Not necessarily. Another gave us a one cour series with only about one and a half episodes of original material, and Shin Sekai Yori supported an entire two cours. Of course both of those were pretty chunky for Japanese novels; if this is in the more typical 2-300 page range, we could get stuck with KyoAni "original" material.
The scary part about this is, maybe KnK, Chuu2 etc. actually were the best LN submissions KyoAni received and now that they've milked them for all they're worth they have to go back to adapting other company's material. |

They still have their fourth honorable mention, Myriad Colors Phantom World, which they're again publishing under KA Esuma Bunko, and recently they announced that a story entitled Violet Evergarden actually -won- their LN contest, so please stop making up fanfiction about what studios are up to again.

There are some character designs and descriptions of the characters now.
Spoiler:
Name: Kumiko Ōmae Instrument: Euphonium Kumiko enrolled in Kitauji High School after long hoping to wear the uniform. She wasn't particularly dead set on it, but decided to join the brass band club and continue playing the euphonium. She has a habit of immediately saying what she's thinking and changes her mind easily. She is very preoccupied with something she said to Reina at a contest in junior high school. Spoiler:
Name: Hazuki Katō Instrument: Tuba Kumiko's classmate. She was in the tennis club in junior high school, and is a beginner in music. She admired the trumpet and joined the brass band club, but ends up playing the tuba. She's a bright and perky mood-maker. Spoiler:
Name: Sapphire Kawashima Instrument: Contrabass Kumiko's classmate. At an elite junior high school for young ladies, she learned to play the contrabass. She joined the brass band club to continue to happily play music. She has a positive personality, but worries about her name. Spoiler:
Name: Reina Kōsaka Instrument: Trumpet A girl who graduated from the same junior high school as Kumiko. Influenced by her dad, who is a pro, she has been playing the trumpet since she was little, so she continues at the brass band club in high school. She is stoic and cool.
