Captain Planet Live Action Movie Coming

Quote:
Cartoon Network has signed a development agreement with action-adventure producer Don Murphy and partner Susan Montford and their company Angry Filmworks to develop a live-action motion picture based on the groundbreaking, environment-saving animated hero, Captain Planet and the Planeteers, it was announced today by Stuart Snyder, president and COO of Turner Broadcasting System Inc.’s Animation, Young Adults and Kids Media division (AYAKM). The agreement gives Murphy and his company the exclusive rights to develop and package the property and advance it towards production.

I predict that 300 years from now this movie will be viewed on the same level as Shakespeare!

You saw it here first!

No, bad! I hope our predecessors have a bit more intellect than that... Yet the direction the human species is going I am very worried about the potential truth in this statement.

Now seeing this news I beg the question… WHY!?

No, not because our descendants will be stupid, but because this movie is going to be AMAZING!

Wow, I hadn't heard that song in literally over 10 years, and I still knew every word. Nostalgia overload!

I'm not entirely sure that's something I would ever admit to, even if I knew the song.

I think you meant

Admit it people... no matter how good or bad you think Captain Planet was, you all knew the words to summon him even before you watched the OP's vid

Even waaay back then, I watched it for that snazzy plane they had... and because the ED was too catchy

Spoiler for Although my first reaction when I did find out about this news was:

Now extremely curious as to what they'll do with the thing...

Normally I'd say what a waste of film but they don't use 'film' any more.

Really... the US movie industry is *that* bankrupt in ideas? Can we say "intellectual property" restrictions starting to bite its supporters in the ass as they achieve total gridlock?

Me neither. I saw just enough of it through commercials and whatnot to know to avoid it.

I'd watch it for laughs. How long has it been since a mullet appeared in a movie on a main character, green no less?

Folks, we have a winner. Now, if copyright laws had stayed sane and limited copyright to fourteen years, we wouldn't see this kind of shit. Captain Planet would be public domain already!
