Nanahoshi Gourmet is the last four Redundancy Chapters currently available. As we learned from the main story, Nanahoshi decided to hibernate to avoid mana poisoning before she could return home. This short arc featured her one-day-a-month awaking, when she get awfully hungry, and Rudeus comply by bringing her home cooking. It's really sweet to see them (plus Perugius) bound over food. You can really see how much they both valued their platonic friendship in these chapters.

In between the food channel-esk descriptions, Rudeus would comment on his current family situation. The chapters cover a wide time period. In Chapter 23, Lucy was 14 and Clive 12. Rudeus asked how to deal with the kids dating. In Chapter 26, Lucy was 18 and Clive 16, and Clive had asked Rudeus for Lucy's hand. Rudeus wasn't opposed to the marriage, just that the young couple already had went through rest of the family before taking him on.

Chapter 25 was concurrent to the Aisha/Ars situation. As result, Rudeus wasn't able to visit Nanahoshi in person, but sent Zanoba instead. Quick translation of relevant section:

"The Sword" that cut through everything should be the God Sword that Orsted can summon, "The Brasalet" that ward off against the devil whispers is obviously the one Orsted lend to Rudeus, "The Ship" that can take you anywhere must be Chaos Breaker, i don't thine we have seen "The Shield" yet but it may very well be Orsted special touki, and finally "The Power" to make full use of the previous treaures must be what Laplace holds.

Orsted must need to kill the Dragon Kings (and the Dragon Emperor) to fully power the treasures, that's why he can't create more brasalets.

On another note we know that Kishirika have other forms, could it be that after becoming a beautifull woman the next stage is that of Diablo?

Volume 4 LN Extra Chapter: Guardian Magician Fitz done. It's on BT.

Those of you that read extra chapters in 3 and 4 may felt a sense of deja vu. That's because the LN release rewrote web novel's Sylphiette Chapter and sprinkled them in as LN-only. I like that choice, since these events happened roughly concurrent to the main Rudeus story.

This chapter was particular though, since it actually rewrote the "Ariel rape attempt incident" from web novel chapter 83 into something more palpable (for print consumption?). I'm not entirely sure whitewashing Ariel's actions are appropriate, given her characterization.

As an aside, currently I have the LN only chapters edited into the chapter flow on BT. I'm not entirely convinced that would be the best idea now. Given the chapter reshuffling, new readers that read from start to finish would basically be reading some chapters twice, and we still have to consider how to deal with the LN Vol.7 in the narrative flow.

I dont mind a few major things in there, but in return I do mind a few minor retcon authors sneaked in.

The reason Rudeus didnt touch Aisha or Norn is not a problem of suppressing biological responses or desires. It is because those responses or desires doesnt exist in him in the 1st place.

Stepmother Lilia? Sproing!
Mother Zenith? Nope.
Wifey Sylphy? Sproing! Even when she's in male disguise and he's in ED, it's Sproing!
Norn/Aisha? Nope. Even when Aisha naked in bath with him, or when she's maturing and got great boobs, still nope.
Aunty Therese? Nope. Even when she's young, or older, or when Rudeus didnt know who she was, no reaction at all.

It's a matter of biological response, not morals. So yeah, author should retract those retcons.

The Aisha-Ars ship still can exist in future, but keep it older than Ars' 12, and have Aisha madly in love and have it rewritten better. It would be funnier and more logical, considering it's Aisha we are talking about. Aisha's too smart to be caught redhanded and unprepared like that.
++Another problem is the big number of Aisha-fans. And we poorly hate to see she get into a pickle like that for a brat like 12yo Ars. He can stand to mature a bit more to worth standing beside her.

Also, one thing to note is the beastmen's nose to sniff out sexual tensions. Aisha work too frequently with Beast People so her intentions might have been caught before. Even if she can suppress the detections, it's notlike she can do it all year long, considering Leo in house and therefore can transmit thoughts to Lara. (Zenith might approve of it from the beginning, I guess).

The book format is actually kind of classy, i wasnt expecting something so elaborate after the simple format in baka-tsuki, the colors for the outline and titles are too soft and they surprised me because those are colours i would never use since im more of a dark tones myself but they make a lot of sense with the girls and yeah, why not, those are proper colors after considering it for a second

The final side story its so damn silly, it would be fun to seee more of those

Aisha was a shotacon with a crush and with low life experience, more like a savant with low social skills as most of her relationships were based on achieving goals more than sharing goals and she had a way to relate to people based on knowing their secrets/weaknesses to ensure an easier flow of events (like the way she knew about Rudeus shrine and used that to get permissions from him) and had a hard time when she was the one with secrets and desires because she wasnt used to rely on people for her personal matters

Ars could not decide to refuse her desicions but after maturing a little he still was not willing to act in a way that separated him from her

Aisha panicked and fleed with Ars because she assumed Rudeus was going to harm them both or/and to force them into political marriages due to her idea of Rudeus building a legacy like nobles do and her "ruining his plans" and stealing his most-precious-firstborn-son/upholder-of-the-name-and-legacy/hope-of-the-family/pride-of-his-father/almost-promised-to-a-princess/wtf-was-she-imagining?

Lilia accepted that Aisha got her homewrecker genes and overreacted all the way, that was fun

Norn was totally on Rudeus side, i think is the first time

Cliff overreacted offscreen, i would have liked to see that rant but i guess is only funny after the mater has been solved

Also Aisha deducted Rudeus was a reincarnator due to his conversations with Orsted and Nanahoshi, that was unexpected

Aisha overreacted about how much she should be punished based on that world punishments for similar cases

To summarize: Aisha and Ars fell in love (due to their unusual inclinations) but both were too inexperienced with their own desires and panicked, Rudeus felt repulsion due to his past life and while he reacted properly by overreacting he failed to calm himself and underestimated the effect his authority has over his family leading to Aisha and Ars eloping before Rudeus could calm down because he would have accepted them given more time and after imposing them some restrictions, wich happened after one year when they were caught

I just finished the Volume 4 Side Story about Fitts and its quite good, it really takes its time to flesh the idea of Fitts as the representative of an unknown suporter and the perverted nobles are given some screentime, also in that part where Fitts and Ariel are going to sleep together the way Fitts is adressed changes from he/his to she/her while is supposed to be completely addressed as a boy, those are the sentences:

I forgot about this until now but I seem to recall that in the WN version the pre reincarnation rudeus was fapping to a picture of his niece and it was retconed to a random loli for the LN, since the first volumes were already out when the translation started they simply used the LN for the first three volumes and went with the WN for the posterior ones, I know about of it because of some comments stated in reviews but the baka-tsuki translation has nothing of it

So yeah, the niece incident was there all along but was rewritten for the LN, i guess the Aisha marriage chapter will also be rewritten to match the previous modifications



Btw, anybody knows what this Sara from vol 7 in the LN will become ? At the end of this volume are there any hints of her future ? Will she get married ? Will she die ? Thanks

Sara was mentioned in rudeus memories as an adventured he almost bedded but failed to due to the loins sleeping that night and there were no regrets nor longing even in the posterior LN volumes so i assume she will simply move away with her life like other side characters did

For info dealer it would be normal, but he was also giving out some heavy info (location, time drugs being dealth) in exchange for some small talks.
And Lara hardly ever steps out of her labratory so it can also be difficult to tell what she's up to.

There are a few reasons why I don't see Mushoku Tensei having a good adaptation.

1) There is a lot of stuff to cover so the story would not fit into a 2-cour. However, I doubt many studios would want to invest in such a long project, so it's likely that studios would end on a cliffhanger at some noteworthy point (most likely either Eris leaving or Hitogami's villain reveal). Eris would be a pretty ideal point (from a studio's PoV), but even then that only gives three episodes per volume. Can you imagine how rushed the series would feel?

2) If they did end with Eris, the second season would feel jarring to people because of the tone shift to SoL and a new girl seemingly NTRing Eris. Many people reading the story already dislike the change to a school arc, and I can see the millions of memes calling Sylphy an elf thief.

3a) Not much action happens in this story. Many of Rudeus' achievements (like chantless magic) would seem underwhelming to someone who wants to see intense fights (just think how much Megumi in Konosuba gets from Explosion). The only intense periods of action would be at the Magic Continent, which I feel would be rushed to at the expense of developing Roxy and Sylphy.

3b) What makes Mushoku Tensei work (in my opinion) is the amount of downtime given in the story to develop the characters. The first two volumes do nothing but give exposition about the characters and the world, only then to have the characters show their growth on the Magic Continent. The school arc is the only reason the series had its longevity, because it spent 4 volumes developing all the minor characters. All of this time would seem like padding to those who want an action series and could be cut to rush to Orsted or Pax's war.

4) Even if they get the pacing right, it's very hard to portray a first person perspective well. The manga tries to do it by always cutting back to his NEET self, which already feels off-putting there. Can you imagine if they hang the NEET form to have thoughts when he starts talking to his dad at Millshion? It would destroy the mood of the scene.

I love Mushoku Tensei, but I don't think an anime adaptation would be great in the end. Here's hoping though. If they did choose to do it, I'd hope that it got the Bakemonogatari treatment (but very few series are that lucky).

This was covered before and we concluded that only an anime with three seasons and 24 chapters per season could do it right and that is a great risk

Indeed, the low pacing makes it hard to sell as a battle anime but it has proper character developing and stuff happening besides exposition, the childhood meetings, paul dealing with a smart kid, phillip planning to use rudeus in his plots, its not a battle story but an adventure story which also has a good appeal and that part is not really the problem

The biggest problem i can see is if they make rudeus an overly perverted character since he is aware of his pervertedness and knows when he fucks up like when he almost banged eris in his birthday, when he decided to be dense with silphy or when he jokes about girls with paul but the problem would be if they make him a stupid accidental pervert like many other characters since the whole point of mushoku tensei is the character growth

Rudeus may be disgusting to some people because of his flaws since they like to identify themselves with the main characters and that is why we have so many beta MCs so full of good feelings that never do wrong and maybe a studio would choose to make rudeus more acceptable by making him another wimpy MC and to offset his flaws as innocent mistakes, that is the biggest risk i see for an adaptation

Another point is the strength, a recurrent theme in MT is that no one can achieve his goals by themselves alone despite their power and because of that i have seen some readers disliking rudeus for not being a standard badass who steamrolls the enemies by himself and his inner power, this leaves a minor risk to adapt him as (again) a more traditional MC with emotional power ups, is really a minor point but is also a risky point

And as i always say when they mention the possibility of an anime adaptation MT may be adapted after the market gets saturated with more of the same light novels with main characters as described before because only then a studio would be willing to look for a different material which also has a lot of the regular elements of light novels

I knew you were talking about a trilogy but still there is not enough space, first of all movies usually have a clear objective to beat/achieve in a (usually) simple way to understand, MT doesnt have enough short term objectives that are big enough for that

Think about the objectives we were shown in the early years:
Mastering basic magic/maxing the mana pool
Educating Silphy
Educating Eris
Beating the kidnappers
Blending in the demon continent
Spending time with the beastmen

Which are not bad but dont have enough weight to hold a movie by themselves because they are part of the world building as much as they are part of the story progression, they are to be known in detail so we can care about them

The only true big objective is getting back home but it doesnt end with a dramatic high point and ends more with a "life goes on", even a good part of the story is spending time with his family and friends

The ways of storytellings are too different, in a movie usually we get a single underlying theme that surfaces more and more as we know the story while there are more superficial themes used for world and character setting, this is like trying to compress a 30 chapters live action series into a single movie or trilogy

Personally I don't think an anime would do this story justice. First the story is basically a rinse and repeat of(the LN could be different I have the first couple of volumes I just haven't rad them yet) "the MC starts to get a hang of his current situation(harem, magic, situation)->a major plotline is uncovered->a cataclysm/major event happens and he has to start all over again somewhere else-> back square one". Secondly the MC actually marries and has kids which would alienate certain groups of people within the target demographics. Lastly the story's ending isn't a complete finality so unless they completely ignore or gloss over major plot points in the middle towards the end of the story it'll leave the fanbase with a sense of incompletion. Maybe if the anime market was closer to what it was 10-15 years ago instead of just a glorified commercial to sell tanks, LN's and records then a studio could pull it off as a move trilogy or a couple of seasons. You gotta remember the anime demographic and the LN demographic are completely different the vast majority of LN readers don't buy the BD's the only reason an anime is adapted is to sell to anime viewers who will buy up the LN's and other merch.

edit; I find myself disappointed in most adaptation Absolute Zero, High School DxD, Blade Dance, Strike the Blood etc; they rarely live up to expectations most of the time I end up dropping the anime 3-4 episodes in anyway they hardly ever get a 2nd season, epic fights are mediocre, plot points are either glossed over or ignored completely and there is usually no heart in the plot. Manga is a different story though, most manga are actually not bad.

Plus if this gets an anime and if gets popular then we can very likely see an English publication of the series and we can finally support the physical release; but I can see why people are skeptical about an anime adaptation, unlike other LN Mushoku Tensei doesn't have the volume=arc format that other LN have so it might be difficult to find a good spot to stop at.

I thought SAO was ok but didn't like the 2nd season that much, Re:zeo I couldn't get into I didn't like the characters at all and Grimgar was boring AF most people everyone here is usually receptive of series which is why I like posting there is no blind hate or bandwagoning and people tend to respect opinions. But the overall opinion of those series were "they're okay" with SAO being the most popular because it appealed to a wider audience.

Im also curious since there have been people who complained because rudeus is too weak since he always needs someone else to cover his back while others dismissed the story as a power fantasy as rudeus was an op magician

In sites like mangaupdates the reviews have people saying they were outright disgusted by rudeus being a pedo while the manga has people calling him cute, one caused the effect due to the internal perception of the reader while the other was bypassed and benefited from the drawn characters as perceived by the readers

Well, the entire premise of the second half of the story is based on Orsted going for the long con, so although doable it will be a different story if it is rewritten to be over in Rudeus lifetime. About Aisha, it sure can be rewritten to make it palatable to most people. Like many people have suggested, just shift the entire thing 5 years forward and make it less smutty.

I think you should just read it later considering the infodump in second chapter, but for now it was mentioned how the world/6 worlds were made and kept in balance and the issue that seems to plague it lately(MAMONO).
As well as how Laplace came to be/survived the harsh makai, and that he is a half dragon and demon, but his birth is still a mystery since nobody from the dragon race should've visited the demon world at that time. He also gets the best dad that might just end up being dead very soon considering what we know. We also get to see the Dragon world(Its literally inverted), how they live there and etc. The narrator and the MC of the story of course is Laplace

I really hope he doesn't change the ending, in fact to me is the best possible ending, mushoku tensei was always centered in rudeus life, he did his part of the job, then is time that other do the rest.

Rather than a crap standard ending like rudy killing hitogami, the actual ending closes the rudeus story, and leaves us an open ED and the chance to pass to the next generation. In fact i'm interested a spin off based in other of his descendants or orsted, in fact we don't know much about his past itself.

Just finished the Aisha x Ars chapters and I enjoyed it very much~ yeah it is written fairly poorly compared to the rest but overall I loved it. It was the first time that a supposed forbidden love felt forbidden instead of having the relative only act like a love interest. Well the only other noteworthy incest stuff I know that I haven't gotten into is OreImo (hate Kirino too much) Mahouka (MC is so stupidly overpowered he makes Kirito look like a common mob) and Yosuga no Sora (waiting for the VN translation).

The coupling did feel like it came out of nowhere a bit, but it does make a bit of sense since Aisha was originally more than happy to sleep with Rudeus. Though I was pissed at him for being so against their relationship, essentially everything that happened was because he let his emotions get the better of him, but its also Aisha's fault for not laying the groundwork or talking about it first with Rudeus. I'm also glad that everything turned out the way it did, even if it was a bit shocking that Eris cut off her own sons hand.

I can even get behind the reason why Aisha eloped, when he refused Rudeus had the same look when he was building the magic armor to fight against Orsted to protect his family. Aisha thought that he considered her an enemy, that's plenty reason to run away, especially since they did love each other, and it wasn't entirely lust either since even several years later Ars still loved her.

In term of blood, Aisha and Ars is as close as cousin twice removed. The term of art is "kissing cousin". And in most of the world outside of USA, as well as many places inside, marrying cousins of that degree is nothing strange or illegal, let alone immoral.

I see that some boys here get confused and uncomfortable by the fact that both father and son being the target of love and lust of a woman (hell, Aisha's first is taken by Ars, so I dont know what the fuck you are complaining about, even). Well, for such innocent babies, I have just the place for you: (((safe space))) . Please get inside and watch I maniacally and gleefully destroy that place.

Kwans got plenty of quirks though of different degree than Japan. One of them is exogamy, with tendency to label anything and everything as incest.

Second, you all tend to forgive the fact that authors retcon a lot and sloppily too. I blame the US comic genre for that.And this arc author has retcon one pretty important factor, though of less notice: Rudeus' attitude toward incest and lust. Rudeus, until the last major battle, retain a lot of his japanese life. He simply not that strict toward incest. The fact that he hasnt done anything of that sort is because, physically, bodily, he doesnt get it up for any relatives. Again, this has been point out during various time of his life: when he met, unknowingly, aunty Theresa for the 1st time during childhood, when he met Aisha after that, as well as his other sister. Hell, at that time he's still kept pretty much his old life's attitude and he did wonder at the fact that he didnt feel any lust toward his two sisters at that point.
That is why his reaction in the arc is frankly strange. Very strange. And the explaination turn into a retcon~

I blame the US comic genre for that.And this arc author has retcon one pretty important factor, though of less notice: Rudeus' attitude toward incest and lust. Rudeus, until the last major battle, retain a lot of his japanese life. He simply not that strict toward incest. The fact that he hasnt done anything of that sort is because, physically, bodily, he doesnt get it up for any relatives. Again, this has been point out during various time of his life: when he met, unknowingly, aunty Theresa for the 1st time during childhood, when he met Aisha after that, as well as his other sister. Hell, at that time he's still kept pretty much his old life's attitude and he did wonder at the fact that he didnt feel any lust toward his two sisters at that point.
That is why his reaction in the arc is frankly strange. Very strange. And the explaination turn into a retcon~

The niece stuff was not a total retcon as it was the original beginning of the series in the web novel and it was retconned and softened for the light novel but the autor seem to forgot about that and used his original setup for the explanation, an un-retconning?

I'd gladly accept a Mushoku Tensei hentai, same with a Nekopara hentai from that kickstarter (I'd genuinely be glad for both). I don't know if you forgot but Rudeus and Aisha are half siblings, Ars gets half his DNA from Rudeus, course you've gotta factor in the minor blood relation between Rudeus and Eris since they are related by their grandparents I believe. If you want to put it into a percentage it'd be less than a 30% blood relationship.
