Probably didn't get a high enough viewer rating to make the list. Seems like the most sensible conclusion to me.

I'm pretty baffled at just how low these viewer ratings are for the overall Japanese viewers though (Including the top 10). I figured the industry would be more popular than this. Especially in it's home country.

I haven't been following Japanese TV ratings for a while, but if I recall correctly...

Bakuman is an NHK program. If it doesn't make the Video Research Ltd.'s Top 10 list, it won't be normally reported unless someone with inside information - e.g., a person who works at Video Research (VR), at NHK, or on the Bakuman anime - leaks it.

That's what someone apparently was doing with TV audience ratings at 2ch for Major, another NHK program, a few years ago when I was listing Japanese anime TV ratings on this thread back then.

One can physically go to the National Diet Library, if memory further serves me correctly, and get Video Researth TV audience ratings for most shows, movies, etc., which air across the Kantou region two or so weeks after they have aired, I recall, with one notable exception: NHK titles.

There were times that the inside source did not report Major's TV ratings at 2ch, and then there was no way to retrieve those ratings if Major did not make VR's Top 10.

I can't be sure as I haven't really been following the subject for some time now, but this may still hold true today for NHK TV shows.

I just started noticing this but Amagami SS seemed to have a boost in ratings from the last time I saw it. Also it would be nice to know To Aru Majutsu no Index's ratings, as well as Ore no Imouto if that is not too much to ask.

So, yeah, Index II first airs on AT-X/Tokyo MX, and OreImo on Tokyo MX. You can see in the weekly ratings that these aren't channels we get ratings for.

If you don't know which shows you should expect ratings for, I suggest you visit Fansub Wiki which lists the first channel to broadcast the anime you're interested in. This winter, we're looking at:
- Kimi ni Todoke Second Season, Beelzebub (NTV),
- Infinite Stratos & Yumekui Merry (TBS Thursday night line-up), Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magika (for its TBS run one day after the first MBS airing),
- Fractale & Hourou Musuko (the noitaminA shows on Fuji TV),
- Gosick, Level E (TV Tokyo),
- Suite PreCure (TV Asahi).

Well, time slot has something to do with it. As well, I assume that while fewer in number than some, Ika Musume fans make up for it in fervor. Which should be good for DVD sales, which should boost prospects for a 2nd season.

I hope so. Ika musume is one of the better comedy shows I've seen in a while (which does a wonderful job at showing how you can make things fun without throwing in a lot of ecchi situations) and for me to see it so low is a bit of a disappointment, especially as I hope for a second season...

That's my impression as well. It's a wonderful show, so it's great to see such fan enthusiasm despite the low ratings. I also greatly hope there'll be a second season somewhere down the line.

Nah, on BS-NTV, its satellite channel which we don't get numbers for (and which probably has very few watchers anyway).

There have been some pretty interesting news this week too: Toriko replacing Dragon Ball Kai this spring. I guess it clearly can't get the same numbers... but could it pull off a constant 6.*% anyway (which could then boost the manga's popularity)? Or will One Piece's ratings decrease significantly if Toriko bombs?
I'm also pretty interested in Danball Senki, which will replace Inazuma Eleven this spring too (both are originally Level-5 games). Inazuma has been losing a bit of steam so the change seems to come around at the right time.
