Some curiosity notes for the seiyuu who play the main heroine characters:
Ami Koshimisu and Fumiko Orikasa were and worked together once in a previous TOEI anime show. Ashita no Nadja, in which Ami Koshimisu played Nadja Applefield (the lead character), and Orikasa-san played Silvie (member and Diva of the Dandelion Troupé that Nadja joined) Furthermore, Ashita no Nadja came between the end and start of two of TOEI's magical-girl shows meta-franchises. Nadja replaced Ojamajo Doremi DOKKAAN! (the last season series to the Magical Witch Doremi franchise) and later got replaced by Futari wa Pretty Cure (the very first title in the PreCure franchise). All shows airing in the same TV network and datetime slot. For another fact, the fairy Hamii's role is played by Kotono Mitsuishi. To me this marks the return of Mitsuishi-san into a TOEI magical-girl show, since back from the early to the mid 1990's she played the role of Usagi Tsukino, the main heroine from Sailor Moon. The irony or coincidence this time is that for Suite Precure Mitsuishi-san will be playing a fairy character who is a cat or cat-like in appearance. This compares and contrasts back to the days of Sailor Moon, when she voiced the heroine Usagi accompanied by Luna, talking cat and mentor to the heroine. |

Both the Toei and TV Asahi sites have been renewenated. Not too much info that wasn't already known, but it does provide a detailed look at the villains in all their bizarre looking glory.

In keeping with the show, I shall present my first capsule review in song. If you know the tune, sing along.
Spoiler for Kamen Cure Hibiki 01 - The Otoya Kurenai Violin Girls' Chorus:
I take my bow, and welcome you all to the new year. |

Although for a Precure series, this feels "Sexier" than usual. I find Hibiki's character design having more sex appeal than Heartcatch's characters and their transformation is a bit different than the previous transformations.

quick impressions:
character design - heartcatch precure's designs were superior voice acting - better on this front, as expected of Koshimizu Ami and Orikasa Fumiko character interactions - better than heartcatch's animation - heartcatch's look better music - a bit better than heartcatch can't comment at the plot this early too early too judge but early indicators suggest that it will be marginally better than Heartcatch (one of the worst in all of precure) |

I honestly really enjoy Suite PreCure so far. At first I said that I didn't like the designs, but... they grew on me. Also I really enjoy the character interactions and animation and art style of it all now, I can honestly say that I liked this first episode better than HeartCatch's so this sets a nice tone for the series for me. :3
My favorite character is Kanade/Cure Rhythm. I do think that the villains' and Aphrodite's designs are vomit inducing though. =/

In all of this, I find a silver lining. The name "Mephisto" has had its scaring power significantly reduced, now that it's associated with the campiest camp this side of camp. It's been a good while since I've seen an evil 'stache of that caliber.

Usagi is a Neko (Bunny is a Cat)
Sailormoon is Hummy...
Why does Toei completely revamp the Precure/Pretty Cure series every so often? For a variety of reasons cited I won't go into here, earlier mahou shoujo series never lasted more than a few years, including Toei's own popular Sailormoon and Doremi series. So they took a cue, I have read, from their highly successful live action tokusatsu series like the Super Sentai and Kamen Rider series, which have gone on for decades, and totally overhaul the Precure series every year or two. And it seems to be working so far, with the Precure series in its eighth year. (Sailormoon lasted only five years, from 1992-1997.)
