Japan's B'z Become First Asian Artists Inducted into Hollywood's Rock Walk

Japan Today - News - Japanese rock duo B'z to be honored in Hollywood's RockWalk

B'z have been honored by their peers in rock 'n' roll.

Quote:
Unlike Hollywood's Walk of Fame, which allows the public to participate in the selection, the RockWalk inductees are chosen solely by past honorees.

Hollywood's RockWalk director Dave Weiderman says, "The RockWalk is not about popularity. It's about influence; how many musicians you influenced, not how many records you sold."

Quote:
Hollywood's Rockwalk is the only sidewalk gallery dedicated to honoring those artists who have made a significant contribution to the evolution of Rock 'n Roll.* Artist such as, BB King, George Martin, Johnny Cash, James Brown, Carl Perkins, Bonnie Raitt, John Lee Hooker, Brian Wilson, Los Lobos, Carlos Santana, Kiss, Aerosmith and others are honored.

A list of past inductees can be found on the RockWalk official website.

Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Billy Haley & The Comets, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, Bo Diddley, Duane Eddy, Chet Atkins, Jan & Dean, John Lennon, Ray Orbison, Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Keith Moon, Earth, Wind & Fire, Van Halen, Alex Van Halen, Edward Van Halen, Alice Cooper, The Moody Blues, Kris Kristofferson, Jethro Tull, Yardbirds, Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmy Vaughan, Steve Vai, Slash, The Animals, Muddy Waters, The Isley Brothers, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, Jackie Wilson, Stevie Wonder, Nancy Wilson, Hall & Oates, Carole King, Tito Puente, Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, Les Paul, Leo Fender, Leiber & Stoller, Dick Clark, Janis Joplin, Joe Cocker, Herbie Hancock, Ike Turner, Isaac Hayes, Bootsy Collins, Larry Graham, George Clinton & P-Funk (Parliament/Funkadelic), Run-D.M.C., Miles Davis, Joe Zawinul, Stanley Clarke, The Doobie Brothers, Steely Dan, Peter Frampton, Queen, Toto, Waylon Jennings, ZZ Top, Frank Zappa, Grace Slick, Gregg Allman, Ted Nugent, Johnny Winter, Stephen Stills, George Thorogood & The Destroyers, Kenny Loggins, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Lou Reed, The Ramones, Phil Ramone, Sonic Youth, Ann Wilson, Blondie, Melissa Etheridge, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Black Crowes, The Cure, AC/DC, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne...

It looks like B'z will be joining some pretty good company.

Hmmm...

No Sir Paul McCartney, no Sir Elton John, no Sir Mick Jagger, no Keith Richards, no Bob Dylan...

And these guys have been in the music business for only more than 30 or 40 years.

That's cool, B'z deserves it. They've been around for a long time and have had a huge influence on Japanese music.
