The wait for this spring is looking harder and harder. I can spot 6 series I am really anticipating, as opposed to, eh... 1 for this winter.
The Flowers cover is quite a tease though, I'm still hoping to get a Mizushiro Setona anime one day, and having Shitsuren Chocolatier featured like that with no anime announcement in sight... :@

The seinen manga Asa Made Jugyou Chu! by Aki Takashi (author) and Munyuu (drawing) will be getting an OVA adaptation, and will be released twice:
1) As a DVD that will be accompanied with the 3rd manga volume that's going to be released on June 23rd, 2012.
2) As a Blu-ray that will be released on June 27th, 2012.

That said, it's lovely art, and Hisaya is one of the most interesting writers in the medium. Anything he's involved with, that's a must-see for me.

You can talk about commercial matters, I'm talking about quality. Maeda's work has none of the subtlety of Hisaya's, IMHO. Your mileage may vary, but the before/after quality gap is pretty stark for me. Hisaya's work is much more suited to my personal tastes.

Hisaya was more restrained in terms of melodrama and supernatural elements. To me, the Maeda stories are rather forced and artificial (making a mountain out of a molehill at times and using plot devices that just aren't believable), whereas Hisaya rarely broke my suspension of disbelief.

I'm not sure about quality though. A lot of care went into Clannad, which is most apparent in the visual novel. Nevertheless, I'd say that Little Busters! and Angel Beats! indicate a downward trend.

I share the same B-Day as Charles Schultz (different year), was a huge Peanuts fan growing up, and even have some correspondence with him I'd shared. I am also a huge Anime fan.

So you will excuse me if I go over in a corner right now and try to decide whether I should splode in delight over two of my absolute favorite things coming together - or lose all hope in humanity at just how big a cluster frak this could turn out to be...

Well, I'd assume that Madhouse would keep Schultz's character designs, so we don't have to worry about Peppermint Patty having giant moe eyes or Linus having spiky anime hair, but they'd make the animation more dynamic. I love the old Charlie Brown cartoons as much as anyone, but everything was staged like a side-scrolling video game. As for storylines, the more I think about it, the more I realize how easily the characters would fit into a slice-of-life anime.

I recall a Jappanese fan production comic that was Touhou using Peanuts characters, art style, and comic structure to tell jokes about Reimu (Snoopy) and Marisa (Woodstock) with Ramilia as the Charlie Brown mold.

It was actually fairly well done as the author truely had Peanuts style down correctly and was able to play off some of the Touhou girls into various Peanuts characters without it seeming off (even to the point of Woodstock and Snoopy's conversations sometimes ending with a random Master Spark as something off panel, or Charlie Brown getting not respect...even from "her" maid.) that and seeing Snoopy's doghouse slightly reshaped to resemble a temple shrine by putting it on low posts and having steps from the entrance an his food bowl and the offering box was clever.


So I can see someone trying to make a Peanuts anime and possibly take it seriously...well seriously as you can take a comic.

As for storylines, the more I think about it, the more I realize how easily the characters would fit into a slice-of-life anime.

Considering how far back Peanuts goes; you could call it the original "Slice of Life" :D

However, I'll believe this one when I see it, Schultz's heirs have a pretty solid grip on how his work is presented.

But Professor Layton movie director huh? Not sure what to think of him. P.A. doesn't seem likely since they have Tari Tari coming up in either summer or fall and then the Hanasaku Iroha project later in the year. I don't think any Nisio Isin related project will be announced this way, it's a better strategy to throw his name in the first place if you want to hype something ... also "sci-fi" isn't really his cup of tea.
As for Urobutcher, I'd like to bet my money on it ... but they forgot to add "tragedy" and "Nitro+" in the description so I'm not really confident about it :heh: ... just kidding ; actually the Aniplex + (Fragile) Friendship + 14-year-old girl + (Sci-fi) Action Girl somehow gave me the Madoka vibes so I can't deny it was the first thing that came into my mind >.> ... but we can't say for sure until we know further details.

This isn't really the place for such discussion, but this doesn't really have anything to do with anything because studios like this one that tackle multiple productions use different teams, and much of the work is outsourced. They're not stealing from one show to work on another because they can't -- the production partners paying them would be furious if their resources were being diverted. I think this is just one of those classic misconceptions that seems to stick in people's mind because of anecdotal (but not actual) evidence.
