Don't bother continuing with this thread if you don't feel like it. Everybody can contribute to it from time to time. :)

Thanks for all the work you put in the previous topic :)

Ahhhh at last some TV series actually based on a manga. It has been a long time ^^
Shounen Inyoushi looks interesting, too. About The Sneaker, it's the magazine in which Trinity Blood was published (not as if it really relevant, because Shounen Inyoushi comes from Beans Ace ^^).

Air Gear is stupid but really pretty. It would be interesting to see how it is animated, because the plot is nothing to write home about, even though this is Oh!great's work. I am just hoping for some good T&A fanservice and well-animated AT battles.

As for the rest, I am really interested in Shonen Onmyoji. The designs look pretty and I love seinen in general.

As for the rest, I am really interested in Shonen Onmyoji. The designs look pretty and I love seinen in general.

Then be disappointed, Shounen Onmyoji is a josei novel/manga.

I have already said this:

Shonen Onmyoji novel is serialized in the josei(young women's) novel magazine The Beans, so its a josei novel.
The manga based on the novel is serialized in the seinen/josei manga magazine Beans Ace, but since its based on a josei novel, Shounen Onmyoji is a josei manga.

There are seinen manga in Beans Ace but those manga are based on seinen novels that are serialized in the seinen novel magazine The Sneaker.

MrProphet

I usually equate seinen and josei because 20-something young men and women usually have similar tastes in mature, non-cliched plots without the regular ways of anime.

similar tastes LOL :heh: I guess you don't know that there are also many josei novels/manga that have shounen-ai in them.

MrProphet

I am not at all against shounen-ai if it has an intersting plot, well-drawn animation and characters that have traits that are a bit deeper than just being hot.

Cool! :D Well now, I wonder...in ep 2 of SHUFFLE!, Asa was reading a Soul Link book...I wonder if that was a teaser of things to come, even 20-some-odd weeks ago? Hmm. :)

Also I tried the website...it asks for a login and pw :eyebrow: Are they just fiddling with it, or is there really a login to take a look? Hmm. If so, do you or anyone else know a login id/pw that would work so we can go take a look? :)

anyways, very cool news, I can't wait!

Yeah I also tried the website but the same login/password came up, my guess is its just way to early for any info so waiting is the only thing we can do.

I usually equate seinen and josei because 20-something young men and women usually have similar tastes in mature, non-cliched plots without the regular ways of anime.

While I would love to agree with you here, a lot of the crap animes like Raimiuro Senkitan, Green Green, and hentai are targeted at the seinen 20-30-something young men also. For me, I define seinen to the genre that first introduced the term to me, usually slice-of-life atmospheric anime with minimal ecchiness, stuff like Kamichu!, Aria, YKK, Victorian Romance Emma, and the like.

I will be interested in Shonen Onmyouji also if they portray the guys realistically (meaning, appealing to guys too, like yeah! that could have been me!) such as H&C. So far most shounen-ai anime rubbed off me as stories starring girls who just happen to have d**ks.

--------------------------------------

Also, the word h-game based-anime should not be misinterpreted. I believe it was pointed out in another forum (either animeondvd or animenation) that Meine Liebe, Harutoki, Sukisyo, were animes based on erogames for girls. So the next time somebody says "crap h-game anime", they must be specific..., i.e. "crap bishoujo game anime". For the record I find >50% bishoujo anime are actually pretty decent.

MrProphet
2005-12-26, 02:09
Green Green is seinen? It's VERY hard for me to believe that any crap Bishoujo Game is seinen... I mean, they so sophomoric and mindless!!!

Dark Lord Zenigame
2005-12-26, 02:23
Given that seinen are the ones who play bishoujo games, why the hell wouldn't an anime based on one not be aimed at the same audience? -_-

MrProphet
2005-12-26, 04:19
In my experience, the ones playing h-games were mostly teenagers. 8)

Dragnfly@Gamefaqs
2005-12-26, 04:42
I don't see the logic to that experience as most all the warnings involved pretty much exclude all teens except for the last two years. Most people I know with collections of store-bought hentai are in the late 20's range.

Dark Lord Zenigame
2005-12-26, 05:07
Exactly.

The real audience is the guys who wait hours in line in Akiba to pick up the latest release from Sofmap, not the moron kids who just download everything. :p

MrProphet
2005-12-26, 05:58
Warning labels stop noone. Warning labels in fact encourage teenage audience. 8)

But we have gotten badly off-topic. Look for example at Air Gear. This and other works of Oh!great feature nudity, sex, profainity and intense graphic violence.

Yet he is published in a SHOUNEN publication and trust me when I say that the suggested audience is definitely NOT 18+. 8)

The same would be true for the TV-show. It's a shounen audience, despite the supposedly 18+ suggestions.

====================

ARIA The ANIMATION 第2期

Yay Yay Yay a second season of ARIA The ANIMATION :D

Its based on a manga thats serialized in the seinen(young men's) manga magazine Comic Blade.
For now there are 7 volumes released of this manga, here are the covers:

http://img308.imageshack.us/img308/1839/vol16wy.jpg http://img308.imageshack.us/img308/6531/vol22rk.jpg http://img308.imageshack.us/img308/3999/vol39ew.jpg http://img308.imageshack.us/img308/5890/vol47tw.jpg http://img308.imageshack.us/img308/8445/vol55jm.jpg http://img308.imageshack.us/img308/3368/vol69yn.jpg http://img308.imageshack.us/img308/1358/vol70zx.jpg

Volume 8 of ARIA will be released in January 2006 :)

Genre: Seinen, Sci-fi, Comedy, Adventure, Drama, Slice-Of-Life

====================

Dragnfly@Gamefaqs
2005-12-26, 18:06
This is good news indeed. It's more of nothing but nothing is so nice in Aria's case. I like just watching the characters go about their lives in that beautiful soft sci-fi world.

In other news, I haven't heard anything else about the Arffi anime so I'm gonna vote it as an unfounded rumour. My apologies. Guess I jumped the gun. Sucks, too. I really wanted to see Socom with a rage control psychosis.

NeoSam
2005-12-26, 18:29
There is a site (that I don't want to mention) thats listing 3 manga that are going to get animated :) but MoonPhase is not listing these anime  so I'm not sure should I mention them or not :uhoh: or maybe I should wait until its confirmed and listed by MoonPhase :uhoh:

the 3 manga that are listed on the site:
2 manga are seinen manga
1 manga is shoujo manga

The first volume cover of the shoujo manga has a guy putting his hand inside the girls pink panties (while she's wearing them) :twitch: if this is really getting animated I must watch this, no way I'm missing this :D (unless it has shounen-ai of course).

NeoSam
2005-12-27, 11:13
Ok now I know why the three manga (from the post above) are not mentioned on MoonPhase its because they are not getting animated but they are getting TV drama series ( each one of them that is ^^; ), since this is the New Announced Anime thread I will not mention them.

More info about Strawberry Panic! :

This site has info about the story of this anime:

A manga is starting in the shoujo manga magazine Comic Yurihime.

From what I know Comic Yurihime is a magazine for lesbians.

Genre: Shoujo, Yuri.

====================

Strawberry Panic! is a yuri novel/manga/anime for males (the manga and novel are serialized in a magazine for male audience and yes they are targeted at male audience).

I started a thread about the male-oriented Strawberry Panic! anime in here (http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=26846).

I have no idea if its similar or not, because I didn't watch it (Maria sama ga Miteru anime)

And if its similar or not, that does not change the target audience.

Strawberry Panic is a yuri novel/manga/anime for male audience, unlike Maria sama ga Miteru which is shoujo novel/manga/anime.

Ah ah, so this is why one of the illustrations in the site feature the two heroines kissing on a plane. All is clear now.

From what I understood from the official site, people in the world of Simoun can change their sex whan they reach 15 years of age (an idea a litle bit similar with the "They were eleven" movie & manga), so I thought that the yuri bits were only a possibility... but if this series comes from from a yuri magazine, we are fixed.

After an onslaught of novel-inspired animes announcements the past months, we are now facing the begining of an invasion of yuri anime. What wil be next ? lol

Some info about Kyo no Gononi (Today in Class 5-2), from Manganews (http://manganews.net/seriesinfo.php?id=1253):

This one-volume manga by Sakuraba Koharu portrays the fifth grade in a... different light. The chapters ran in Young Magazine, a relatively small publication, and were then released in volume form, when it gained some cult following.

What makes this manga particularly unique is not it's characters, which represent fairly run-of-the-mill manga personalities like those found in FLCL, Azumanga, and even Sister Princess--which should give you a pretty good idea of what does make this manga interesting: the perfect blend of school humor, plain ridiculousness, and raging sexual innuendo.

Ah, fifth grade like you wish you remembered it!

Genre: Seinen, Comedy

The one volume manga got scanlated by Jinmen Juushin group (the manga is not licensed), and it can be found here: http://jinmen.pyoko.org/projects.php?project=Today_in_Class_5-2

Just finished reading Kyo no Gononi. It's like a slightly more perverted mutation of Azumanga Daioh and Ichigo Mashimaro, or something like that. Slice-of-life, basically. The characters are mostly archetypical, but they're not annoyingly so. It has my approval.:)

From AnimeNfo (http://www.animenfo.com/animetitle,3607,izrtte,yume_tsukai.html):

Ok, my two Euro cents on two series:

Air Gear: While the pics look good, an anime about inline skating sounds really boring...

* Based on a game by Giga

Any network runs all over the world, and the development of the information network reaches its acme. In this age, there are two developed worlds; “the real world” and “wired”, or the virtual network world.

Soma Toru belongs to a hacking group, Steppen Wolf, which runs around the network world freely. They attack the database of the UN forces as their last work. During this attack, he loses Nonomura Yuya, his friend as well as the team leader. Toru is arrested by the army. In exchange for letting him free, he has to work for an anti-hacker organization, the first squad of the UN Security Force Information Administration Bureau.

Working for them, he is looking for the person who killed his friend, while the other members also have their own reason to fight.

The three-way fights of the terrorist group, the security enterprise, and the army, continue every day. The various events occurred during the fight seem to be independent of each other at the first glance, but they’re converging on one event as if they were attracted by something.

パピヨンローゼ (Papillon Rose)
http://www.ayaya.co.jp/papillon_index.html

Broadcasting station:TV Hokkaido
Airing time: (Every week on Thursday)25:30~26:00
Broadcast target date:February 2nd

Based on an ONA (non-existant, it was just a hoax back in 2001, ended up getting turned into a one episode OVA in 2003, had tons of merchandise in between 2001 and 2005 though to expand it's mostly non-existant universe) that was basically a ecchi Sailor Moon parody. (Also parody of other popular anime)

Not exactly sure how ecchi it's going to stay though since a lot of things so far have been changed, I can tell that much just from the images I've seen in magazines and on the net. Still worth looking at, that's what I'd say to people. Of course I'm going to watch it cause I'm a rabid fangirl. :heh:

I think it's only going to be six episodes long though.

Seems the TV Hokkaido informaiton was false. I also saw Moonphase listing this information:

Because of the grand sinking, there appeared a big "hole" near the apartment complex in Machida. Therewith, 185 families, almost all the inhabitants there, were killed miserably. The Police couldn't find any clue of this ferocious mass murder. However, an old man and a disgusting relic from the Middle Age called "Durj Box" were related to this case.

5 years have passed since then. It is near future. Tokyo has two faces; the one is a prospered megalopolise, the other one is a criminal city. Shindo Ranmaru, one of the survivors of the tragedy occurred in Machida, has become a policeman to solve the mass murder case. One day, he is informed that a drug habitue is rampaging around Shibuya. However, what he sees there is not so easy. The monsters that apparently don’t look like human are assaulting people. It is the members of Tokko, or the Special Mobile Squad Public Branch, including Rokujo Sakura, that save helpless policemen. To be surprised, they fight against monsters not with guns or nightsticks, but with swords.

Then, Shindo learns the surprising fact that Japan will be demolished within two years, and he has to face the tragedic fate to fight against monsters that come from the "hole".

More info about Shibawanko no Wa no Kokoro:

Info from Anidb (http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=4296):

Based on a japanese children`s book by Yoshie Kawaura.

Shiba-wanko, a Shiba-inu dog, and Miike-nyanko, a calico cat, live together in a classic Japanese-style house with the traditional Japanese alcove called a tokonoma. Shiba-wanko is a very gentle and hardworking soul who does all of the cleaning, laundry and cooking in the house. Miike-nyanko is a different type all together, being rather temperamental and not very good with housework. Together, these two learn the manners and customs associated with events such as the proper Japanese way to treat one`s guests, preparing for a Japanese New Year and how to enjoy the kimono, the traditional Japanese costume. Each chapter covers a specific topic which has to do with living in "Wa" (the Japanese-style spirit of peace and harmony) throughout the changing seasons.

From We, the Fans (http://www.wethefans.net/):

Minami-ke is a manga following three sisters, Haruka, Kana, and Chiaki in their lives at home and school. It's a funny manga that depicts how these characters interact with each other and their classmates. It's a manga about ordinary girls and their ordinary adventures told in an extraordinary manner. -------------------------------------
Angelique
Release date: 2006
Genre: Shoujo, Romance

Announcement website/possible future official site (http://www.gamecity.ne.jp/neoromance/tv/ange/)

The Angelique TV anime was announced last year in celebration of the Angelique series' 10th anniverssary. It was a video game series that started 10 years ago. The game is a dating simulation game for girls (it's NOT an adult game/ero game...someone wrongly called Meine Liebe and Harukanaru Toki no Naka de ero games in an earlier post and they're completely wrong).

The general story in the Angelique world is that two girls are selected from different planets in the universe to represent the universe. They go through trials and training to see which of the two girls is more fit to take the position of Queen of the Cosmos -- a girl who will support the universe (think Magic Knight Rayearth). The trials vary and can be difficult. She has 9 guardians (among others) who are there to assist her, with each guardian corresponding to a different element in the world (fire, water, earth, etc). Will the girls fall in love with the guardians, or will they choose to become Queen instead? Do they pick love or duty? In the video game version, the player decides their destiny, but in the anime... how will they decide things? I'll have to watch to find out. :D

The series has been continuing as games, manga, CDs, concerts, etc for 10 years and features an all-star cast (Koyasu Takehito, Kotono Mitsuishi, and more...). It has previously been made into 13 OVA episodes. It's a very cute romantic series that is quite popular in Japan (you can see it referred to in manga such as Fruits Basket and Sorcerer Hunters).

The story is expands over several arcs, so no one knows which arc the anime will be about. The site that mentions it features a picture from the latest arc, so maybe the anime will be about that arc? (same characters, different story/clothes)

Here are manga pictures from the 11 volume manga series that covers the first story arc (first Ange game):

Saiunkoku Monogatari

Release Date: 2006
Genre: Shoujo, Romance, Drama, Historical

I don't know anything about this series except that it's a popular drama CD. The illustrations/character designs are by Yura Kairi, who also did the Angelique series art. So there will be two shows with her art airing at the same time. ^_^ I'm happy because I really love her art!

The drama CDs seem to be historical/shoujo pieces.

Here's a cover of one of the drama CDs:

The anime that got announced was called .hack//GU then they just changed the title of the anime to hack//Roots.

As to what games they are based on, I have no idea (I just know that the title is based on a game). what I know is that the title/name of the anime (based on some game) that was going to get broadcasted has been changed.

Maybe on the site they are just mentioning the Hack\\G.U. game or something like that.

There's also a manga that was published under a shounen comic imprint in 1994 and 1995 called: 妖怪人間ベムRETURNS (its a 5 volumes shounen manga).

From Anidb (http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=1447):

Three monsters, Bem, who looks like a gangster, Bera, who looks like a boy, and Bera, a witch, act as agents of justice, hoping that they will be allowed to become human.
Several episodes involve them protecting a young boy.
The style of animation is fairly distinctive, and the storylines not without interest.

I think it's a case of two series with the same name. One seems to be yaoi, the other a harem... The anime seems to be based on the former.
edit: The harem series is Gakuen Tengoku, written entirely in kanji which is translated as Gakuen Heaven, while the yaoi is Gakuen Heaven with heaven written in katakana. So the titles are different in Japanese, but when translated to english...

Yeah, I was wondering which Gakuen Heaven they were animating, too... but it's definately the yaoi game.

The PC game it will be based on is "Gakuen Heaven: Boys Love Scramble", which is a yaoi game. Official game site here (http://spray.product.co.jp/top.html), but since it's an adult PC game site I warn you that there might be adult content.. ^_^; Lots of famous voice actors...

I'm really looking forward to Dennou Coil (http://www.tokuma.jp/coil/) mentioned by NeoSam earlier. It won't be out until much later - they're actually advertising for staff to work on that particular show so I guess they haven't gotten anyone yet. Why am I looking forward to it? Because one of the l33test people in the animation industry is entirely behind it (director, script, original idea etc.) He did a very very memorable episode of RahXephon, ep 19 (coincidentially he also did a lot for Eva #19...) I'm excited to see what'll happen now.

I noticed there's like, more stuff on Kiba (http://www.ki-ba.com/) here - OK the character designs look generic and it's all liek teh fantasy-magical-powers stuff, but I don't mind it and HOLY CARP TEH BACKGROUNDS (http://www.ki-ba.com/about/index.html)! Teikoku Shounen's production design looks good. Also, good seiyuu - woohoo, Mizuki Nana as yet another female lead in a shounen magical-fantasy anime, as well as Hiroyuki YOshino (woot), and Shinichiro Miki!

From Newtype JP March - Garakan, new anime from Gonzo (possibly airing 01/04/06). Character designs by the very talented Okama (http://okama.nicomi.com/). Looks like a fantasy adventure type series. Website here (http://www.garakan.com/).

Cool, it's Gonzo x Satelight. The eye candy will definitely be there, at least in terms of effects and photography. As for animation I hope it's not the Hellsing Ultimate Satelight but more like the Arjuna Satelight or Noein Satelight... I guess the designs would be nice.

But I'm worried the story will suck like shit because the guy who did the series composition for UPS is behind this. Gosh if this is going to have contrived and stupid plots like that show then I'm not watching it.

More 'Noein Satelight' would be most welcome, especially in the battle sequences. Also I can't remember where I saw (or read more likely) but Okama replaced Range Murata as the concept artist on this show. I may be mistaken though....

From Anime News Network (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/article.php?id=8480):

I couldn't find mention in this thread, so here goes:

"Spider Riders" is a co-production of Bee Train and a Canadian children's television company (no, not Nelvana!) which, according to Moonphase, starts airing in Japan on April 5th. On March 25th, Teletoon Canada will air a 90-minute special, and start airing the series "later in the summer".

Here's some clips on the Teletoon site: http://www.teletoon.com/unrealworld_v2/teletoon.php?language=En&user=0&init=shortcut&func=tvSpecialsVip

The dub and the music are very westernized, which I guess is to be expected. The show is aimed at the young male demographic (what a surprise). The story was written by a pair of veteran Disney cartoon writers, and the dub kind of looks like that script was translated to Japanese, then re-translated back to English to fit the mouth flaps. :heh:

I haven't been able to find any information about whether or not the music will be different in the Japanese version or not; if it's in that Moonphase blurb, Bablefish didn't help me with it. :p

I think the animation looks like it might be pretty good, but then again, I'm biased. :D

Well, it's listed for TV-Tokyo airing on April 2nd, 5PM I believe. So I'm guessing, especially with the lipflaps on Teletoon's site, that they made a dub for this.

A little OT, but does the word "Drops" have any particular meaning in Japanese game/anime titles? I'm curious because Itō Noiji (illustrator for Shakugan no Shana) has recently been involved in a game called Nanatsuiro Drops (http://www.softpal.co.jp/unisonshift/products/project13/main.html).

Hmmm, the great Googoling god tells me this is an doujin ero-game for School Rumble-lookalike characters.

"Drops" in general probably refers to little candy-ish pieces (think of cough drops, only candy instead of medicine). "Mitsu" refers to honey, so MITSUxMITSU Drops is like saying honey honey candy. ^^; Nanatsuiro Drops would mean something like rainbow-colored (literally "7 colored") candies...

Like a lot of Japanese titles, it doesn't have a meaning beyond being cute... ^^;

Remember Otogi-jushi Akazukin? Cute little OVA, only one episode subbed so far.

According to AnimeNation there will be a TV series this summer.
Japanese fan site Moon Phase reports that TV Tokyo will broadcast an Otogi-Jushi Akazukin television series this summer. The Otogi-Jushi Akazukin OAV was released in Japan in February 2005.

Well actually Mitsu x Mitsu Drops is a shôjo manga by Kanan Minami that was turned into a dating sim. The manga itself seems to be rather smutty, but not more than Mayu Shinjo stuff for example. And it's running in Sho-Comi, definitely aimed at girls.

With regard to "Mitsu Mitsu Drops", "Drops" seems to mean "Drop out". It is a play on words. "Drop out from Honey" and "Honey Candy(Drop)".

Haha, it depends. Shounen-ai is fun to a certain point, that is.
Well, i did some "image research" and one of the manga covers was rather... Shounen-ai ish. ( http://www.gdyouth.com/photos/168/16785_15a74612eaf9fe52434fe6de4d604795.jpg )

If you look closely, the person in the blue is a girl, so it's not a shounen-ai picture at all ~ Look at her chest through the wings.

On a side note, this series looks interesting, too. I'm amazed that not only are SO many new anime coming out this spring, but that almost all of them look awesome! This is such a change compared to last year's harem anime crapfest... :heh:

I never knew that now is about the right time one wishes one were a yaoi fangirl...the selection this summer would still be good, but still manageable. I had already did 3 research elimination rounds on the list of new upcoming anime, and I still have 46 titles to check out. I was hoping to cross out more titles until I get a more manageable 25 or below, with eventually settling to 12-15 series as is my norm. I used to be proud of having varied tastes in my anime, but now I regret it, this is just clearly too much. Note that the list here on animesuki, combined with the list on animenation, plus movies and OVA come out to more than 50 new titles this summer, and that's still without the hentai!

New Production I.G. anime announced - Le Chevalier D'Eon (Knight D'Eon). 24 Eps, no air date yet.

Blurb from ANN:

18th Century, just before the French revolution, multiple religious cults of the dark side were engaged in secret maneuvers under the name of Revolution.

"Le Chevalier D'Eon" (Knight D'Eon) a diplomat and a special agent working for Louis XIV, is fighting against those cults, and also on a mission to find the killer of his own sister. A mysterious cult organization called “Rose Cross” stands in his way, using vicious powers to create a dark creature, “Gargoyle” to over take Europe....

無敵看板娘
Muteki Kanban Musume

From AnimeNfo (http://www.animenfo.com/animetitle,3707,urwdsh,muteki_kanban_m.html):

This is a daily comedy revolves around Miki, and other unique characters. For example, Ohta Akio is a son of a vegetable store, and he is an otaku of Ranger series. Kannazuki Megumi is another Kanban Musume of a bakery store. At first glance, she is quite and cute, but actually she is a dissembler. She thinks Miki of her rival, and she disturbs Miki’s job in various dirty way.

It really helps to crosscheck this list:

http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?t=27919

with this longer list:

http://animenation.net/forums/showthread.php?t=188873

because with different romanizations its easy to misspell some titles or confuse them as separate titles when they're in fact the same.

I can assure you Neosam has not started a thread on every new anime yet :D After a fourth research pass, finally shrunk it down to 29 titles, exclusive of OVAs. As I suspected, there are a few more upcoming 6-episode series (I think Strawberry Panic is one of them). If there's any OP / ED done by KOTOKO or Savage Genius I'll be sure to watch the entire show! :p

If anyone actually cares, I've posted my to-watch list. This may benefit those who are familiar with and share my interests and who may feel overwhelmed and don't know where to start. Oh yeah, and I don't care if they actually get subbed, if they are good enough (for me) they can be raw.

In general, the titles on the list:
-avoid shows listed on 'mainstream times' (i.e. 18:00, 9:00) and automatically go for 'hardcore timeslots' (i.e. 23:00-27:00). There may be exceptions.
-anything action, psychological, slice-of-life, harem, video game, bishoujo ---- I like
-I like shoujo too, but with too much seinen stuff I'd have to put you on the backburner (That means Nana....Oh noz! :upset: )
-any BL / shounen-ai --> OUT. any yuri / shoujo-ai --> MUST WATCH :D
-even a few bishoujo stuff I tossed out of the list if they are too cute or (*gasp*) loli.

Priority 1 (7 titles):

Soul Link
Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu
ARIA the NATURAL
Simoun
Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni
Kishin Houkou: Demon Bane
Kamisama Kazoku

Priority 2 (12 titles):

School Rumble Nigakki

Makai Senki Disgaea

Princess Princess
Ah! My Goddess ~Sorezore no Tsubasa~
Nishi No Yoki Majo Astrea Testament / Good Witch of the West / Project WestWitch

Evaluate (10 titles):

Shoujo Changguem no Yume / Janggeum no Yume (Korean animation)
Renkin Sankyu Magical? Pokaan ?? Get ready to chuck if this is instant suckage
Himesama Goyoujin / Himesama ga Youjin / Hime-sama Goyojin ?? " " Same here

As I suspected, there are a few more upcoming 6-episode series (I think Strawberry Panic is one of them).
I had heard somewhere that strawberry panic was going to be 13 episodes. However, I can't seem to find it anywhere, so I'm starting to think I just assumed it and began treating it like fact.:uhoh: I hope it's more than 6 episodes. That's a completely insufficent quantity of yuri.:heh:

I haven't eliminated any series though. I'll evaluate them as they come out. I'll probably end up watching episode one of every series that comes out, unless it's yaoi. I just hope my isp doesn't impose bandwidth limits. Haven't hit any yet, but if they're there, I'll surely hit them next month.:heh:
edit:The Moon Phase list (http://moonphase.cc/Html/anime.html) says it's a 26-episode series... I don't know if it's true or not, but that Moon Phase website is usually quite reliable.
So it does. 26 epsiodes of yuri FTW! :D *As I wonder why I didn't think of checking moonphase :heh:*

The Moon Phase list (http://moonphase.cc/Html/anime.html) says it's a 26-episode series... I don't know if it's true or not, but that Moon Phase website is usually quite reliable.

Apparently based on some online game, some The tower The Recovery of BABYLYM ???

Now, where on earth did they get so much budget to produce so many shows, and TV series at that? In the past decade we've had at most an OVA of Ah! My Goddess, an OVA of Canvas 2, an OVA of Tokimeki Memorial, and then now BAM! Full TV Series. I mean WTF. This couldn't all be attributed to the advent of digital animation. I just couldn't quite figure out how so much funding is put into the industry....is it an overinflation of the estimate of the industry's capilitalization by JETRO? It must be, especially if they're planning to export all of these shows. Notice most are seinen titles. So I guess they must be targeting all the international male otakus then who are working and have spending cash. But that doesn't explain all the galgame anime...surely those do not cross borders in international licensing.

For those who are interested in some background - Oban Star Racers is based on the short film 'Molly The Star Racer' which was a pilot produced by an indie French studio called 'Sav! The World Productions'. Molly was particularly interesting as it featured music by Ayumi Hamasaki. The series has been in development for a number of years and at times it looked like it would run out of funding. It's a good example of a how an anime influenced European project (other than the Marathon franchises) has come full circle being aired in Japan. Trailer is here (http://www.savtheworld.com/eng/oban_trailer.php3) (Real only, sadly).

I like the comment quote ANN..."Take Chobits and Koi Kaze, remove the serious, thoughtful elements from both, and mix" formula to appeal to the loli-con / sister-con set. "

Apparently based on a manga.

Really, I wanted to announced something else, but NeoSam beats everyone to it!

"Fuck yeah!" at the Black and White movie. Both the manga and the cel-shaded Morimoto directed "pilot" were awesome, and I was very disappointed after learning of it's cancelation. Good to know Studio 4°C is back in action. Also interesting are the new two IG's works in the shape of Chevalier and Mortbito along with the Spirit of the Sun anime adaptation.

Nevertheless good to know there are some good interesting proyects among the hideous amount of bad bishoujo anime we're getting nowdays.

The plot looks more serious and centered around realistic things than Fushigi Yuugi. ^_^; The only things they have in common are the setting (the similar clothes styles reflect the settings). Both are based off of ancient China...

Saiunkoku Monogatari takes place in a fictional ancient-Chinese style country called Saiunkoku. ^_^ It seems the heroine is a poor girl who wants to take part in the government/court, when a new king appears... sounds very interesting to me. ^_^

And I worship that shoujo artist and her character designs...

No, the author/artist of BLACK BLOOD BROTHERS novel is not the same one.

Author/Artist of BLACK BLOOD BROTHERS: Azano Kouhei (あざの耕平)

Azano Kouhei is also the Author/Artist of another seinen novel called Dクラッカーズ (D Crackers) (which is published under the seinen(young men's) label Fujimi Mystery Bunko)

If you are interested in seeing the covers of Azano Kouhei's other novel, just say so and I'll post the covers of the novel D Crackers.
