I did see the Toaru Project 2018 title too, but indeed it doesn't actually say what that project is about. All we know is that S3 is on the way. The Toaru Project could just be mobile games, or another season of Railgun, or even a Toaru Accelerator series.

Yes, that was announced at the end of the original Kickstarter and now the live action is supposed to help in eventually doing that in the future but nothing's confirmed yet. The only thing confirmed is the live action and music video.

Hayao Miyazaki's final film -

Studio Ghibli director Hayao Miyazaki revealed on Saturday the title and expected timeframe for completion of his latest film. The director expects that it will take three to four years to complete his Kimi-tachi wa Dō Ikiru ka (How Do You Live?) film.

Miyazaki derived the film's title from writer Genzaburō Yoshino's 1937 masterpiece of the same name. He added that this book is a story that has great meaning to the protagonist of his film. Yoshino's book centers around a man named Koperu and his uncle, and through Koperu's spiritual growth, it discusses how to live as human beings.

There's supposedly some kind of "3D anime" planned for Spice & Wolf for 2019.

But the ANN article and/or its source is rather vague about what the content is. Something about "a new scenario is being written", but whether that just refers to a new "anime" script and is therefore just the continuation of the series (i.e. new anime season, at least content-wise), or if it's completely new, original material, is still unknown.

It's also not known if it's just a single episode or some multi-episode series or something else entirely.

I don't think the material is enough anyway for an anime. Bought volume 1 shortly after it came out when I happened to come across it when I was in Japan last Autumn (and I liked it) and this is the PV for volume 2 I think.

Just out of curiosity, around how long does it typically take from when people announce a project and when it's actually aired? And do they pretty consistently inform people if they're canceled? I ask because I heard back in February of last year or so that "Didn't I Say to Make my Abilities Average in the Next Life!?" was to be animated, and there's been absolutely no word since that I know of.

Typically I'd say the airing is within about 12-18 months of the announcement, but it totally depends. It's quite possible that there could be some issue with the production committee or some other conflict that results in internal changes that we never hear about.

In this case, it was the novel publisher announcing they were starting planning, but at that time they didn't announce any other production details yet (e.g. director, studio, character designer, etc.), so maybe it was announced a bit early in planning.

Overlord Season 4

Overlord has become one of anime's top isekai series, and fans always want more of the franchise. Recently, fans saw Overlord hit up the small screen thanks to an ambition crossover, but it seems the anime cannot be kept down for long. A new report has gone live about the anime, and it says a fourth season has been given the green light.

The report came from KSM Anime after the anime licensor took to Twitter. The German company was attending a local anime convention which hosted two creators on Overlord. It was there the publisher told fans a fourth season is on its way.

"On Saturday at the Overlord Panel, our Guests of Honor announced a fourth season of Overlord! No more information is available at this time though."

And just to elaborate on the story: a young boy decides to move to the capital and become a soldier, but no one in his village thinks he's cut out for it as he's too weak. However, his village is in the sort of RPG after-bonus region, and their concepts are highly skewed. They insult him for not being able to collect wood (meaning taking down lv-100 tree monsters in one hit), or swim or fish (meaning staying underwater for hours without going up for breath and singlehandedly killing giant spine-covered fish monsters), or fight (in this case you're not seen as a proper fighter if it takes you a whole night to recover from a couple hundred broken bones, or being able to take any injury from something weak like the holy sword Excalibur). Needless to say in the capital, which is basically a starter town, he's beyond superhuman but still thinks he's weak because his perception is so skewed. He earnestly thinks that he's the weakest person enlisting rather than strong enough to annihilate the entire army singlehanded and not even get winded.

I know, but my point really is that cast changes do happen in anime and aren't even all that rare. Any time a show is remade it's SOP to change most of the cast, especially if it's been more than a couple of years.

Madhouse also collaborated with Disney for the anime Stitch! for its first and second arcs (equal to 56 episodes total), between 2008 and 2010.

It is quite weird that Disney (aka the 800 pound gorilla) would accept what feels like leftovers, no one is doing a full length feature. On the other hand, it would not be beyond the house of mouse (lack of) ethics to use this opportunity to try to poach talent to build their own animation studio.

Disney used to have an animation studio in japan (since it was cheaper than having own on the USA) but disbanded it long ago. With anime slowly but surely becoming more popular and them lacking the capacity to produce non CGI animation, the fastest route is stealing already available talent. The long run is doing it from the ground up, which would take years.

The Ancient Magus' Bride Manga Gets New Anime With New Studio

"The official Twitter account for Kore Yamazaki's The Ancient Magus' Bride (Mahō Tsukai
no Yome) manga announced on Wednesday that the manga is inspiring a new anime
project, starting with an original anime disc (OAD) series titled Mahō Tsukai no Yome: Nishi
no Shōnen to Seiran no Kishi (The Ancient Magus' Bride: The Boy From the West and the
Knight of the Mountain Haze). The staff describes the OAD series as the "first part" of the
new anime project.

The three-episode OAD will be bundled with the limited editions of the manga's 16th, 17th,
and 18th volumes. The 16th volume will ship on September 10."
