It's possible that they finally realized that there's lots of money in female targeted shows and decided to do one, but I'm not holding my breath.

ANN's been wrong before and I'm pretty confident they're wrong this time. They have no Japanese source to confirm this, so they have no credibility on this topic.

Whenever KyoAni had something related to a CM they aired, there was an immediate announcement on their website and one launched simultaneously as the CM finished. Unlike Beyond the Boundary or Tamako Market, there was no such website created. This is a CM and the first one Do created by themselves. Nothing more, nothing less. Anyone saying it's going to be a TV series or anything else is speculating.

Perhaps they wanted to advertise that Do could made a commercial? It's not strange for the subcontractor to hype up something they're making from scratch even if it's a small 30s commercial. Given that it has the same intro/catchphrase that all the CMs have (and Tamako Market didn't have), it's just a CM and nothing more. ANN is clueless when it comes to KyoAni (see the description for Chuunibyou's announcement for example #1).

Kawamori Shouji's new "multidimensional" project with Satelight, "The Fool." It's multidimensional because apparently it's going to mix various media such as live action, animation, novels, etc. It's sci-fi and it features historical people such as Oda Nobunaga, Leonardo da Vinci, Jeanne d'Arc, etc.

The title of the first episode is "Nobunaga the Fool" - a character drama fusing eastern and western history, a historical sci-fi live entertainment with fight scenes we've never seen before. Apparently it's going to be robot battles with Oda Nobunaga & other historical people on a planet where eastern type and western type worlds are at war with each other. Character designs by Kazuki Yone (yay!). It's set to be released this winter.

This looks great ! It reminds me somewhat of Glass Fleet and Horizon on the Middle of Nowhere with a sci-fi setting that involves characters dressing in pseudo-historical environment. Will definitively watch it plus the artwork department was awesome !

Yes, there's a manga but I haven't read it so I can't tell how good or bad it is.

As for whether you'd watch it or not... well, I think it mostly depends on how easily entertained you are. :heh: It's not a great show by any means. But it's deliciously retro (it's like something out of the late '90s or early '00s!), the character design is pretty, the voice-acting is good, and while story-wise it's been pretty meh for the first 8-9 episodes, the last two episodes were surprisingly strong, and apparently there's even a plot which will be hopefully explored in S2.

But if not, then would you rather have it Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou style, and have dozens together? It wouldn't work, since there isn't even much source material.

And I can't even imagine how they can pad it 'Minami-ke' style. Most of the chapters take place in school during a lesson, you know...

Not to mention it's being made by the same studio as Doraemon, which is pretty much a short anime too (at least the old ones were kinda short).

Yes, it's a mixed-media project, helmed by Kawamori the "vision creator." :heh: The story is sci-fi/fantasy about a "western" and an "eastern" planet locked in an eternal war, and the revival of a legendary super-technology called "sacred treasure" and Jeanne trying to find a way to avoid the end of the world, blah blah blah (the text is tiny, it zooms horribly and my eyes hurt when I read it). Oh yeah, forgot to write above, her name is actually Jeanne Kaguya d'Arc. :heh: (And it seems King Arthur is involved as the ruler of Western Planet. Don't ask.)

Apparently in the live project the characters will be played by actors, but if I understand it correctly the voices will be still provided by the seiyuu (don't ask how that's supposed to work), and the musical score will be played by a live band.

(Btw, looking at some of the art... doujinka, start your engines. xD)

Sabagebu! Shōjo Manga Gets TV Anime in 2014

The October issue of Kodansha's Nakayoshi shōjo magazine is announcing on September 3 that a TV anime adaptation of Hidekichi Matsumoto's Sabagebu! (short for Survival Game Club) has been green-lit for 2014. Masahiko Ohta (Yuruyuri - Happy Go Lily) will direct the anime from scripts by Takashi Aoshima (Kotoura-san).

The story of the original manga revolves around Momoka Sonokawa, a girl who transferred into a certain girls' high school. The club she ended up joining at school was the "Sabagebu," a club that conducts survival games.

Haikyuu!! is another one of those sports shounen with a big fujioshi fanbase, and the rampant success of KuroBas has everyone looking for the next cash cow in that market. Heck, they even got the same studio. Baby Steps doesn't have that going for it.

To be fair to HQ! it def outpaced what Kuroko did in the same timeframe in Jump, I cbf looking back @ old sales charts but it sold more in the earlier volumes. Of course Kuroko exploded after the anime though... Anyway HQ is part of the "New Power Generation" of jump after all so an anime was always on the way.

Anyway it's just JUMP pushing out another adaption of a successful manga, hoping to increase sales even more, would've been animated regardless with its level of sales, Kuroko's success has no bearing on that. Once a manga in JUMP sells at that level it gets an anime, see Medaka Box, Sket Dance, Beezlebub, Kuroko as recent examples. Other manga like PSYREN that had a near two year run in the mag couldn't get to that level and was left without an anime.

Yes, it's confirmed that this was a prank. A production committee isn't going to set-up a new Twitter account to announce something to no one when their existing account already has mountains of followers. It just makes no sense.
